Ugh already bad enough having the DeVos family in the NBA, now the fucking Adelsons too. Maybe it'll make Luka walk knowing the owner is Trump's biggest donor.

Especially when Laker Stern tried pushing the Clitter Paul to the Flamers stench.

Wonder if Adelson has ulterior motives to move the team to Las Vegas. Gonna at least threaten it in an attempt to get Dallas to welfare them a new arena since the AAC is 23 years old now.

Doubt it. I could have seen him run if Sanders got the Democratic nomination in 16 or 20 to be a spoiler candidate but neither Trump nor Biden is a threat to his money so wouldn't make much sense.

Aac is decent for an old arena

The lease expires in 7 years so they'll probably be pushing hard for a new arena in 3-4 years.

Maybe Cuban thinks the next broadcast deal will be underwhelming and he's cashing out early? Especially if the NBA wants to stick with TV networks with the way cable TV is dying.

It’s pretty fitting that Cuban’s reign of incompetence will end in him being ousted from running the team, and the Mavs going to Las Vegas, because he was dumb enough to trust a billionaire family in the MAGA cult :lol

I don't see the NBA approving a move of a current big-market team to Las Vegas, it would make more sense to just go the expansion route. I guess worst case they might move the team and then start the expansion franchise in Dallas.

1. Mavs relocate to Vegas (new owners lied to Cuban)
2. Spurs relocate to Dallas (larger market, more attractive looking home crowd)
3. Expansion goes to Seattle (who gives a crap about San Antonio tbh)
4. Mavs fans now get to say SIX RINGS FAGGOT

The dream is alive!

Mark Cuban emphatically said they are NOT moving to Vegas...so 100% chance now that it will happen.

no way DFW is going without an NBA team though...Mavericks have been top 5 in attendance every year basically since the AAC opened. From a business perspective, I'd just move the Grizzlies to Dallas. Why the h*ll did Memphis get a team anyway? Complete sh1thole city, and Nashville is the much better market anyway.

If Dallas won't gift the Adelsons an arena they'll move. Just like any other city that's not LA, NYC, or SF.

Again, they want to build an NBA arena inside a casino located in Texas, where gambling has been legalized. My guess is Cuban has already purchased the votes or he wouldn't be clearing his portfolio and his schedule.

I don't see the NBA approving that without a backup plan for a DFW franchise. But who knows. The importance of market size is probably decreasing rapidly with shifting viewing habits.

I can't see the owners voting against their ability to hold cities hostage and demand publicly financed arenas. Most of them are going to do the same when their leases start nearing expiry. You'd be asking billionaires to stop demanding taxpayer subsidies, which is as American as apple pie and mass shootings.

I wasn't disagreeing with you on that, I'm just saying it's weird to specifically implicate Cuban in "buying votes" when we're talking about the Adelsons who have given $100 millions to GOP reps, Trump, Abbott, etc. and are basically the gold standard for buying votes.

Put your fuckin' soap box away, Karen. I have no idea who the Adelsons are. I'm from Dallas and the story is about Mark Cuban selling the majority stake in the Mavs. The Texas state legislature couldn't be more up for sale, and if your evil Trump supporters are funding it, Mark Cuban is clearly in bed with them. You try to draw a distinction as though it matters. Go cry in the fucking political forum about it.

:lol That escalated quickly.

The specific political ideology isn't the point, but I'm sorry if you feel attacked. You've admitted to not knowing who the Adelsons are. The next step is just to admit, if only to yourself, that you were talking out of your ass.

I knew the snowflakes would be all triggered by the Adelson's buying the team :lol

Be glad that's all they're buying. I wish Soros would buy a Sports franchise instead of all the major city DA's in this country.

Cuban stopped caring after 2011 so this is long overdue, tbh.

A few hinted. I went to RealGM Mavs when I read the news. A portion of deleted posts.

I'm seeing arguments for both sides - Cuban has lost faith vs Cuban already checked out and this is better down the road.

Pivoting around this same idea: he may want cash for another investment and figure this is the best thing he has to sell.

He's one of a handful of power players not projecting negative sentiment around the stonk theories (essentially that DTCC and others are involved in ongoing, widespread securities fraud that will be revealed once companies separate from their infrastructure). Maybe he wants to join Cohen, Pulte, Icahn, etc. in that play.

but doesnt change how horribly he mismanaged lukas time here. until this trade, nico has done a great job of turning cubans mess into a really good team. and honestly, while its hard to expect the health to be good, this team if healthy, could be pretty legit. their defense should be amazing.

I can't understand mortgaging your future to bet on a lesser player who is injured more than Doncic. All those picks and pick swaps you owe 2027-2030 are no big deal if you have Doncic leading you to a top 10 record, but now you're talking some ridiculously valuable assets since Davis isn't going to be All-NBA in 3-4 years. Though it could make the Spurs 2030 pick look a lot more enticing to Sacramento now.

meh, this seems obviously rigged and Harrison is just the fall guy or the Jewish owners dont give a sh!t about basketball and want that future $350 million tab to just go away. No point in even wasting time trying to dissect how dumb it is when it's just distant ivory tower billionaires treating a basketball team they don't give a shit about like their crypto portfolio. Just a bad day for basketball/sports overall IMO.

At some event with Bill Gates he asked Gates for advice, on stage, about what he would do, if after he left Microsoft he found out that Steve Ballmer traded the new hot Windows 11 for Windows 10 hall of fame but old, and that he knows a couple people who are in that situation. LMAO.

The Celtics just won the Finals and are on a pretty good pace now to get back there. Last time they were at this level (2008), Pau Gasol was traded to LA to capitalize on the rivalry. This is the NBA optimizing their profits. Otherwise the NBA faces the possibility that OKC will face either Boston or Cleveland in the Finals. No one will watch that, relatively speaking.
