Stern Jr. claims this is the exact type play the NBA can issue a flop fine the next day.

Sochan did a great job imo of holding up his momentum and NOT charging into Trae Trae.
Also when Sochan went up for the shot, he actually leaned backwords so as not to give the charge.
Watch it in slo mo and you'll see Trae Young flops like a bitch. Watch the feet especially.
Was. Not.Set. in proper draw / Sochan did not take the bait.
What did you see?
Pop couldn’t challenge because he had no timeouts to use. Horrible call

I forgot to give the option of No Call Play On.
In which case we're in great shape with Wemby about to do the game ending slam.
50 50 call. I don't think he was quite set, but I think in that situation at the end of the game, you don't make a call. Pop looked doubly stupid not being able to challenge it - he's still locked in mentally for 2014 and it's about to be 2024.

Watch the last part. Trae’s left foot was still moving and not yet set. Yup that was a blocking foul on Trae and should be a FT for Sochan instead.

My question is whether Sochan's decision to try to make that move was the best decision. He wasn't even close to making the shot as it turned out.

Comment:
Young (ATL) beats Sochan (SAS) to the spot and firms up on his left foot to establish himself in a legal guarding position in his path. Sochan then drives through Young's space and dislodges him from his defensive position during the driving shot attempt.
If Pop would have had a challenge, he would have lost it, at least per the NBA. https://official.nba.com/l2m/L2MReport.html?gameId=0022300272

A prime Manu type move would have been for Sochan to jump up, (while not bumping pussy Trae at all) slowly spun in the air and do a dump off pass to the trailing Wemby for the Slam.
Sochan is not there yet but that would have been cool.
Trae Trae did a good job of setting up. But my Q was did he flop to exaggerate the contact. Exact thing Stern Jr. claimed would be called this year.

No moral victories.
Maybe the guys should play defense and be more assertive and decisive on offense if they don't want to lose on tough calls.

So the Spurs would have lost the challenge. There was zero percent chance that was a charge, and you'll never convince me otherwise.

It wasn’t a no call. It was called an offensive foul.

Refs in the moment, may have made a different decision. There's no harm on challenging at that point, with 2.7 seconds. It's bad gameplanning, point blank, though I agree it's likely it doesn't get overturned since it's a 50-50 call.

I don't see how on earth that's a 50/50 call. He wasn't set, he moved under Sochan while falling back and he took the contact on his shoulder.
I guess you're right though because NBA refs are such shit now that they call shit like that at least once a game.
