You say terrible, but they have double digit leads in how many games? They get absolutely punished often in like 5-6 minute stretches that kill any shot at winning. They are not getting rag dolled all game long. They do plenty well all things considered.
Double digit leads in the first half don't meant shit when they give it all up during a 4 minute stretch in the 2nd half when teams actually starting giving an F.
Victor is legit, I'll give you that. But we came into this season thinking Vassell and Sochan were long term pieces. Vassell has yet to take another leap and still has injury concerns. Sochan looks completely broken by an "experiment" that his garbage head coach put him through.
They've taken a massive step back so far this season and it's not even arguable at this point tbh.

I tell you this, the game tape isn’t going to be kind to Sochan.
He morphed into Ben Simmons in last game Philly mode.
Multiple times he could’ve shot but didn’t…
Could’ve drove but didn’t…
Found the open man…
I Hope he turns it around as one of his strongest traits last season was seemingly his BBall intellect.
He wasn't very strong last year either. That's a misconception on Spurstalk, that Sochan played so well last year.

You can't compete in today's NBA without shooting the three bro
you cant jack up 40 in a game and make only 3.
You half that to 20, make half of those other 20 and you win that game rather easily.
That's horseshit that you cant win in the NBA in 2023 without jacking up 35 plus bricks from 3 point land.

They need to start selling off pieces at the deadline. Roster doesn’t fit around Wemby. The season is over - they need to start getting themselves ready for next season.

This is the classic mental crunch of young(est ever) teams. Watched it happen with the Tim teams. Oope they’re playing us tough but we got that 10 point run in the third we win by 2 or 4 buckets, defense doesn’t let them back in etc etc.
I agree getting those double digit leads that we squander is at least not discouraging.
20 teams are above .500 so we are going to get crunched.

Every draft day for the last 5 years, the Spurs have passed over talent to get some strange player they think has hidden potential just waiting to be uncovered. This is the result.
Edit: Wemby obviously excluded

What do you think they can get for these spurs
They are playing so well and their stats are great

Man Keldon turned out to be nothing special. Looks like we whiffed on that 2019 draft too when our best player in that lineup is Keldon.

People keep acting like the missed shots are an anomaly. The team can't shoot for shit when there's any semblance of defense. The anomaly would be when they have a good shooting night, and Victor needs to forget the 3pt line exists.

These refs have money on the game
Yep. The league is a joke. Zero integrity.

Spurs are 11th in 3p% and 10th in attempts per game.

Starting by Vassell instead of Haliburton.

Starting by Vassell instead of Haliburton.
And then you don't have wemby, 11 teams passed on haliburton and the spurs get one of the better player drafted before hali.
We need to stop this draft thing overall the spurs did good tough i hate samanic and really wanted sengun, the problem this year is on the staff imo. They killed the team by not choosing who's starting between johnson and sochan and they let it go too much.

Ugly game to sit through.
I really don't like this live by the 3 era of basketball.
The times the team looked good was when there was movement with the ball and more effort to get to the paint and the line for free throws.
The Defense looked better but seems like they over help too much at times.
After close to 20 games , the roster isn't bad. They just don't work completely alongside Wemby.
It's noticeable throughout the game when substitutions are made.
There is going to be a need for a shake up before next season starts.
Still enjoy watching the games Wemby is amazing to watch.

No, the Spurs are 29th in NBA 3pt% just ahead of Toronto.

Did I say you needed to shoot 5 of 41 to win in 2023? I don't remember saying that. At all.
What I said is the three pointer is a crucial part of 2023's NBA and you can't win without using that weapon, for better or worse. I'm not making the rules. But that explains in part why they shot so many of them.

He was #29. Not sure what you’re expecting there? Most of the back half of the first round just drop out of the league without a second contract. Getting even a rotation player there is a huge W.

Sure, but I can also say Murray and white actually made something out of their careers being the same draft picks as Keldon. I’m moreso just saying we got nothing from that 2019 draft. And it’s time to move on from Keldon. He does nothing for this team.
