He was great in everything he was in. Played the villain roles so well too.

Deep cut: He was great as Ben Franklin in the HBO John Adams series. Perfect casting.

*(I believe) he played a married man who announces to his wife of many years that he wants to be a woman. She acquiesces and then dates the mean guard from -The Shawshank Redemption-. It's a fine movie, but can't recall the title.
