LOL hiring a guy whose winning percentage is like 30% after taking the third game of a series.

Oops, Coc is 32.7% in close out games in seven game series. Take out the 2008 Celtics and it's 28.6% :lol

SMH Rivers has to have incriminating evidence on high ranking NBA Sternfish and/or owners.
This is surreal.
Donald Sterling.

The way cock rivers keeps getting offers from contenders, and the players talk about it in the media, you'd think they were a dynasty.
Never seen anyone milk a championship win quite like the 08 Celtics :lol

Kinda shady how Inside the NBA/CNN is reporting his hiring while other sources are saying he hasn't been hired.

There are no decent white coaches either. Always the race angle from some.

Rasheed Wallace says Doc Rivers shouldn’t be a head coach in the NBA: “When he got a 3-1 lead, he fold like a lawn chair” (msn.com) (https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nba/rasheed-wallace-says-doc-rivers-shouldn-t-be-a-head-coach-in-the-nba-when-he-got-a-3-1-lead-he-fold-like-a-lawn-chair/ar-BB1hmFQ9)

It is weird tho how it compares to the NFL. Black coaches in the NBA get quite a lot of chances, even prime landing spots. Mostly because of their reputations as former players, and maybe even because of their close relationships to some players. Obviously, there are exceptions like Kerr and Nash, one worked, one didn’t. They got chances they may or may not have been deserving of getting. But former (black) players also get chances in the NBA.
Seems like quite a few of the white American coaches who end up being good are not former pro players but coaching lifers who have to spend years and years moving up the chain. Malone, Thibs, Snyder, Bud, Nurse, Jenkins, Hardy., Spoelstra (not white, but non-black). And those are the ones that may have to “settle” for head coaching gigs for at the time may be bad teams, maybe with bad ownership, and a bad draft history in order to prove themselves.
I think there is an interesting race discussion to be had regarding NBA coaching.

Some of those guys had the righ situation
Malone's dad won 2 titles with Detroit, Spoelstra was groomed by Riley, Thibs worked with JVG, Bud with Pop.
Not saying they don't deserve their success because they had good mentors, a lot of coaches have sucked ass despite being in good situations.
Thibs rang with Boston despite Cock Rivers :lol
Spo is the best coach in the NBA and he deserves it

The question should be where are all the black assistant coaches who never were successful players?

Going up the coaching ranks through apprenticeship isn't an advantageous path, the large majority of those who are trying will never succeed. Pop's path is like he was the 1st one through the door on Black Friday. He got the all star list of mentors. Then Bud and several others get Pop as a mentor.

Crazy that if the Spurs lost that game in Houston in 1999 after being blown out by Utah on national TV Pop would have been fired and replaced with Coc, who was the Spurs color TV guy that year. Then Duncan probably walks to Orlando to get away from Rivers and the Spurs move to Anaheim.

SMH now Coc saying he told the Bucks he didn't know why they would want to fire Griffin.
As he was Griffins *consultant* all season long.
