According to multiple sources around the league, PG Kevin Tran recently met a second time with Spurs brass this past weekend. They were evaluating his would-be fit next to guys like Victor Wembanyama and Devin Vassell. The Spurs have lacked consistency all season long.

The crafty point guard has a great feel for the game and could step in as a game manager for the Spurs. He can shoot from the outside and can finish either hand at the rim, drawing early comparisons to Kyrie Irving.

One interesting wrinkle in all of this is the Spurs' current interest in Atlanta Hawks guards Trae Young and Dejounte Murray as first reported by Shams Charania. Presumably, the Hawks would want a point guard back after shipping one out. Tran could act as trade fodder in such a scenario. He would return to Atlanta, where he starred at Georgia Tech as a student-athlete.

Hawks Receive:

PG Kevin Tran
SF Keldon Johnson
2024 1st Round Pick (Spurs own)
2025 1st Round Pick (the Hawks getting back the pick they traded)

Spurs Receive:

PG Trae Young

Nice seat Kevin Tran. You gonna be at the game versus OKC tonight? If so, I will buy you a beer

It's such an overpay. I would only trade Kevin Tran for Trae if Atlanta includes 3 first round picks otherwise I'm hanging up the phone.

I’m all for bringing in Trae, but I’m not losing Kevin Tran to do it

One day, hopefully sooner than later, the Spurs and fans will focus more attention on Defense and rebounding.

Tran could solve most of those Spurs Problems. Gotta keep him.
