How much longer does this go on? 2 scoreless games, 3 games of 2 points, tonight's 3 pointer at the end of garbage time. Is this doomed to continue until the off-season?

Sure, he might be shooting 40% but no defenses seem to care when I get to watch. He has zero chance of being in the all star three point contest.

He's not impacting the game as a defender or rebounder that I've noticed

Being less bad than McDermott or Osman .... Is that enough?

I'd rather see Cissoko get some burn in this season of disasters. He'll get a chance to work on his wide open threes at least

He's statistically one of the best defenders on the team, which should tell you how mediocre this roster is. I'm fine with him starting. 40% 3p shooter and is probably one of 4 players that gives even a slight effort defensively. Knows his role as a role player unlike that shoulderless black hole Branham.

Wemby is getting a lot of shots with this starting lineup and that's all I want from this ruined season. Anyone that will take away from him gaining experience, can stay the fuck away.

Is he less bad than Osman or McDermott? Serious question because I say hell no.

Because he played like Kobe during SL

Champ held Lu Dort to 2 points on 1/6 shooting btw. I really can't remember a time this season where he was getting targeted defensively. I've seen teams intentionally do it to Sochan, Keldon, Osman, McDogshit, Branham, etc.

There's a reason he was +3 in a blowout while Keldon was -32 and Branham was -28. Before you mention that it was because he shared the court with Victor... Vassell was -19 tonight

Fair, he might just be a different kind of bad

this roster is a mess

The only reason why he's starting is so the offense can run through Victor more and Keldon can't take shots away from him. With that being said, Champagnie is not rotation material. He's cool as a plug and play 3rd stringer, not more. Defensively he's ok I guess and I think he's a better shooter than what he has shown this season, but he doesn't really impact the game. It would also help if he could develop some type of in between game, cause he has none.

Defenders stick to him in the perimeter and he provides some level of rim protection at the wing with his standing reach. He is a good enough placeholder with that contract.

Definitely not starter material

He's currently a decent 8th guy at best

Yeah, he's in a role way too large for his level of play. No reason to cut him. He should be a 10th man that plays in short stretches to see if his 3 is falling. We just have a huge talent deficiency.

How much longer does this go on? …

By the contract the Spurs gave him, four years. So, 3 and 1/2 more years.

Only the first year was guaranteed at the signing, tho. It’s year-by-year.

As a practical matter, it’ll go on until the lazy, amateurish, grossly incompetent Spurs front office replaces him.

As far as playing time for Champ, a person would have to persuade Coach Wino to reveal his arcane machinations to a curious world. (Ignoring the vicious rumors that Coach Wino himself doesn’t know what he’s doing from one game to the next.)
