I know some folks might think I'm trying to "anti-jinx" because I have picked against them in every single game this postseason, and maybe subconsciously I am, but this just never felt like a Chiefs' season to me. I know they played it conservative against Baltimore but that offense still stalls after halftime. It has happened all season long, including the playoffs. If this were the Lions, it would have been an easy win for the Chiefs, but the Niners have been there, they won't be satisfied just by showing up. They want to win it this time and that type of mindset makes all the difference.
I'll say this, though, if the Chiefs do win it, they would have gone through the 11 and 6 Dolphins; the 2nd seed Bills who were the hottest team at the moment and the team I thought was going to win it all; one of the most dominant regular season teams we have ever seen; and the NFC 1st seed, another team just as dominant and who has been a powerhouse for a while. I don't know where this would rank in toughest pkayoffs runs of all-time but it has to be way up there. And to do it in a season where they haven't looked like the usual selves, it just speaks to their championship pedigree.

On paper a 3rd Ring in 6 years would put KC in discussion for greatest American sports runs
This is Chiefs best run. Winning road games. If they beat another #1 seed AND its Back2Back, some media would rightfully argue greatest NFL run.
I watched the Patriots & Broncos B2B. Pats were very rare better on the back end. Broncos shouldered Elway missing games and I believe they were down at Halftime of the 1998 AFCCG. They avoided the 98 Vikings.
Bills, Ravens & 49ers as Wild Card no less would be Mahomes signature run. Reid should retire unless he wants to try 3Peat

Compared to their previous SB they have upgraded the QB position so they have a good chance
Donald Sterling.

Imagine losing the SB to a QB that was the last pick in the draft. That's the type of thing that can really stain a legacy.
Hope that doesn't happen to Mahomes though.
I dont really care what happens in the game. I'll root for Niners I guess. But I really want Taylor Swift to do a cameo in the halftime show except she comes out in a Brock Purdy jersey and sings "We Are Never Getting Back Together" and then dumps Travis Kelce.
It would be so on brand for her girl boss image and romantic relationship history.

I'm cool with the Niners winning this time but how many times have I been right about KC this playoff? Literally 3-0 picking KC including 2 very tough road playoff games.
Kansas City and Mahomes are a different species in the playoffs. They've officially become the '01 and '02 Lakers. Coast the regular season, break your hearts come playoffs regards of whether they're home or away because they're just too damn clutch.

Initially I wanted SF DC to come out aggressive hair on fire
We should flex don't break 1st Half. Focus on slowing Chiefs running game. Saw stats, since the Mahomes INT in OT vs Bengals, Pat doesn't turn it over but he also isn't as lethal.
49ers defend the long game and trust our Offense. Shortening the game is to our advantage anyway. Then dial up the pressure down the stretch. Priority #1 is controlling the trenches.

I was in 4th grade when we won in 1994
This is the most well rounded team since. There are obvious concerns- kicker, pass protection and yes our QB.
I still believe this 49ers team has another gear and Chiefs have reached their ceiling. We are more likely to have our best performance of the season AND lay an egg.
I don't remember the last time Vegas favored 1 team and all of media/analyst (and neutral fans) the other.

2019 defense was definitely better. You could count on the 2019 49ers defense stopping a 3rd and 1, or 4th and 1 every single time... book it. Not the case this year. Running game was dominant but in the super bowl they decided to go away from the run with a double digit fourth quarter lead in typical Shanahan style.

Better positions in 2019
- CB Sherman
- S Ward (biggest blunder in the game)
- Kicker Gould
- DC Saleh

Watched the NFL network pregame hoopla. I like this aspect of the build up. Chiefs came out with Warchant and 49ers with Metallica "For whom the bell tolls"
Might be 70% 49ers fans. I felt the booing was overkill. We made our point but then allow the opponent to also enjoy the moment.
I must tip my cap to the Chiefs. This version is respectful & modest. They are a great representation of the sport to foreign audiences for example. Watching Andy Reid's media interview. He's a breathe of fresh air.

Well, well, well. Without going off on a tangent and wishing/hoping. I'm moving to Berlin in May. 33 years of 49er football. I'll remain a fan but it won't be the same. 49ers are arguably American sports best franchise without a ring over this time span.
The Defense has been subpar since Christmas day and issues go beyond X's and O's. Not fighting off blocks and average tackling.
Vegas has us favored. Media is 75% KCC. Most prefer the Chiefs QB, defensive unit, special teams and coaching. What's left for us?
All or nothing. This talented team will finish the job or be steadily forgotten like the Harbaugh 49ers. We are healthy, revenge factor and feature a number of ringless All Pros nearing their end.
49ers win. Slow the Chiefs run game and avoid turnovers/penalties/missed FGs. Chiefs might win today and Monday but tomorrow this SF49 finally showcase a complete game.

There's no way anyone can reasonably predict this game. It could either be a 49ers blowout or a nail biter win by the Chiefs.
I think the 49ers look at how stupid the Ravens were in not running the ball and I think they give a huge dose of McCaffrey to keep Patrick off the field. I'll really be surprised if he has more than 120 yards passing by halftime.
I'll say 31-20 9ers but no way would I touch this game except for the stupid super bowl pot where you pick the numbers for the totals in each quarter

2018 Rams were a dominating offense that got held to 3 pts in the Super Bowl. It doesn’t matter how historically good your offense has been if your quarterback is capable of going Full Derp at any moment. On paper the Niners should win, but I’m just not betting against Mahomes.

Nah, it's not just the undisciplined thing. Roger Goodell hates the Dallas Cowboys, and the league more than likely because of that or something else possibly, has a clear vendetta against them. You simply wouldn't know this unless you've watched most all their games for the last 20+ years. And I mean really pay attention. The league has it out for Dallas. You either know this or you don't. Mahomes is just the best player right now. "Why didnt the Ravens and Niners just run it more" the Chiefs defense did a great job thats why. And when Mahomes is on the other sideline it adds a mental element where you feel like your playcalling and execution has to be perfect.
The Ravens ran 16 times, Lamar ran 8 of those times, 5 were WR handoffs.
They threw 37 times.
They had the best rushing attack in the league and ground up the 49ers during the regular season that way. It's absolutely shit play calling on their part to try to go toe to toe passing when that's not your strength.

Kelce threatened the life out of Andy, and Andy responded. Now it's probably water under the bridge, and has been toasted a dozen times.

:lol Ya 6 handoffs to the RBs after Baltimore had a top running game all season / Chiefs running D was soft. That was just Patty genius.
Ditto McCaffrey getting good yards on the regular.
FOH.
Yeah, Mahomes going on surgical TD drives to start the game did nothing to rattle the Ravens. Their defense selling out to stop the run and giving the Ravens looks that make them throw the ball was all just Baltimore being dumb. And Baltimore should have score multiple times but fumbled because guess what....the Chiefs defense gets turnovers.
Chiefs had the #2 defense this year yet people are somehow confused as to why people had trouble scoring points againt them. It's really weird.

Well when the Chiefs take up an entire quarter of the first half on 2 drives maybe game plans change.
When are yall gonna figure out that it literally doesnt matter what the other team does. Mahomes is going to do whatever he needs to win. If he has to throw it hes gonna throw it. If he has to run it hes gonna run it. If you take the lead on him hes gonna march down the field and answer.

...they were afraid they weren't going to pick up positive yardage. That early fumble by McCafferty? They/He never got over it. His reckless style of running was abandoned in stark favor of ball retention. That's all it took.
& it's all in your mind...if you pass it the reward is (bright.) Handing it off 5 yards behind a line of scrimmage is (dark), especially with the scoreboard is in peril.
As soon as it kicked off I fell in line with SF, away from KC. I wanted to see Swift in sadness. I wanted to see the announcers slighted as they declared for KC early and then often. Then confirming my preference for SF was Kelce attacking coach like that! Oh, CBS did not want to show that clip, but had nary other choice. Then shut their mouths with nary condemnation to the sodomites for Kelce.
GD, I hate when MSM gets their fuckin' way!

Brady was 43 when he beat mvp season Rodgers, Brees and Mahomes on his way to a 7th SB win.
Beating Jimmy Garapollo, Jalen Hurts and Brock Purdy in the SB doesn't impress me, at all. Maybe I'll take notice when he beats a somebody in the SB. We'll see.

That was a ridiculously bad look for both of them. If I was Andy I would have chewed the shit out of him in front of the team and the world to stop that shit. The first time it happened.
But then again the beetus might have killed Andy if his blood pressure went up any.

Down but maybe at least 2 score I might see it. The final score was 17-10. The Chiefs weren't exactly lighting up the scoreboard in tecmo style.
The answer is you run the ball, control the clock, keep him off the field. Especially when your qb is Lamar.

It's always weird when people say "ha that QB didn't beat that QB in the game" when the defenses are different

That's the whole point, DS...is to get there and find a Garapollo, a Hurts, a Purdy there instead of a QB with the caliber you display/Mahomes. I was never happier than in '09 when Kobe lined up at the center court jump with that idiot Howard across the way. I was tickled pink.

:lmao
yeah that's how I felt when the Rangers drew the Diamondbacks in the World Series tbh. I knew if they faced the Phillies, they would lose in humiliating DFW sports fashion with Harper and the rest of those guys mean mugging the pitchers and 'stanky legging' after every home run like they had been doing all postseason imho

:lol well atleast something great, sports-wise, came out of Texas Tech tbh imho
Something great football wise. I mean Sheryl Swoopes isn't as cringey to say as Brian Grinder but it's not great either.

Stop all this nonsense that the Chiefs were so far ahead.
Right you are the 2 fumbles were very hurtful to the Ravens, just as the 2 fumbles hurt the 49ers.
The Raven rookie fumbling as he was going into the endone for the 17-14 close.
Still doesn't erase the moronic strategy to not run.
Dumbaugh at his worst.

Especially when Brady beat Delhomme & Goff while losing to Eli (twice) and Foles. A Super Bowl win is a Super Bowl win. Doesn’t matter who you beat to get it.
And Brady did it 7 times in case anyone forgot. Mahomes has 3, again in case anyone forgot.
