There are people who have played in the paint, tall guys, who know how to catch the ball in the right spots and keep it there. This starts with teammates who can get you the ball in the right spots, but Victor cannot be setting up so far from the rim, so that he needs to put the ball on the floor (even though he's good at it). Spurs need at least one real point guard and a stretch 4 who can pass the ball well.

They had quite literally the worst roster in the NBA last season, yet did zero trades to address any of the team's longstanding and glaring issues, while only incorporating a rookie, 19yo bigman. I don't think that has anything to do with Pop's coaching or lack thereof this season; as they often say, tanking is a FO design first and foremost, rather than a coaching or players' actions.

These Spurs are playing much better than they did before, sure. But it's improvement on the curve of a historically bad season. They never had a playoff ceiling to begin with.
