I read that a block that ended up with the ball in the hands of the blocker is considered a steal if it doesn't hit the floor, and a rebound if it does. Seems wonky. Probably not even remotely accurate.

But ESPN hated and still hates the Spurs with a passion, so they didn't. They (ESPN) ended up succeeding BIG TIME in making it uncool and icky for the mainstream to root for the Spurs. The result is what you see today when 3/4 of the stadium are Lakers, Warriors, etc fans and the arena also being 1/2 empty when we aren't playing a big market.
