Anybody here been to the Dolomites? Looking for a nice, quasi-affordable stay, preferably Airbnb for 4 people from around 3-6 May. I only have a 12-13 day window to take the family on a Euro vacay and these are the only open dates left. I will be traveling by car, most of these destinations I’ve already been to but her folks want to see certain places.
Day 1: Bratislava, Slovakia. Been there a couple times but her folks haven’t. Nice enough city, good for a first stop. We’ve already seen Vienna 17 times or else we’d drive the extra hour.
Day 2: Hallstatt, Austria. Never been, but it’s always been one of those screen saver towns I wanted to visit.
Days 3-5: Dolomites. Loc tbh, but friends have recommended the areas of San Candido, Cortina D’Ampezzo, Sappada, Alta Valle Agordina and Canazei. It’s becoming a chore to find something cost-effective that has at least 2 double beds (Europe loves them some twin beds for some reason).
Days 6-8: Tuscany. So many spots to hit but I have a special place I go back to every year in Montespertoli. Rolling hills, vineyards and cypress trees as far as the eye can see. Food is ridiculous, I could die here.
Day 9: Verona. Such a gorgeous, underrated city. Take your Mrs here if you get the chance.
Day 10: Ljubljana, Slovenia. Beautiful “hidden secret” city. Staying here because I have an embarrassment of IHG points from work.
Day 11: Budapest, Hungary. Best view of the Danube River in Europe. Perfect view from IHG hotel which I am also milking for the points.
Day 12: back home
