The nomination? I mean sure... but post conviction polls now have Biden up in the popular vote over him by 7%.
Today is a massive landmark in the election, like Mondale attacking Reagan's age, or if the Warren court had found LBJ guilty of killing JFK.

Completely disagree. He will always have the base because he is the exact leader they have been conditioned to want via 30 years of Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly, Glenn Beck, Laura Ingraham, etc. It doesn't matter if independents all ran to Biden, the GOP is stuck with Trump until he dies or decides to quit running. If they dumped him he'll either run third party or tell his base to stay home and then the Democrats win the house and senate in a wave.

That prediction isn't difficult at all IMO. Trump is exactly who the right wing mass media has been telling their audience to want for 30 years and it's the first time the base has gotten that. They're not going to let go of finally getting the candidate they were engineered to want. You live in Texas, you understand what a cult leader figure he is for the GOP base.

Nonzero for sure but unfortunately the judge has been pretty consistent with his leanings that Trump's 'First Amendment Right' to run for POTUS shall not be infringed, whatever that means. Means he's unlikely to do hard time but a lot of outlets are saying he could be spending the campaign trail on house arrest in Florida and thus be limited to campaigning within ~10 miles of Mar-a-Lago. Other outlets are saying that he'll get by with fines, extensive probation, and cease and desist type of injunctions.
The dream scenario is that he gets the full sentence (4 years state prison is the max, as per NY law prison sentences for white-collar felonies can only be served concurrently, not consecutively) and then a plea deal is done where the sentence gets thrown out but in exchange he agrees to forever give up all current and future bids for any federal or state public office, including POTUS. Unfortunately, I don't think that's constitutional. :lol Will Hunting can attest to that.
All we know is that the judge has the ability to sentence anything from zero to four years of prison time, but only 10% of similar cases generally result in actual jail time, most get by with probation and fines. House arrest is the intermediate option and it would all but ensure a Biden victory if only Biden could physically go to the swing states.
The GOP needs to do the smart and appropriate and right thing and distance themselves from Trump right now. Do a "runoff" primary in every state between the second and third place finishers, Haley and DeSantis. Hopefully DeSantis wins, which I think he would, even if he placed third in the primaries due to dropping out quickly.

I’m not sure if a plea deal where Trump agrees not to run would be unconstitutional but regardless, the GOP distancing itself from Trump and trying to replace him on the ballot would be political suicide. The base would revolt and sit out the election en masse.
Even if Trump gets sentenced to jail time for this, I think SCOTUS would manufacture some reason to table it until after the election or to completely throw it out.

He'll never quit, he already told us that, Will. And he'll serve his time either in jail, or, at the house, he already told us that.
I just pray that thru this lengthy appellate process the SC is able to remain static. If we lose just 1 that cocksucker Roberts will roll over hard Left and we're fucked on-the-spot.
And oh, yeah the RINO's are chomping at the bit to cast Trump down FOR GOOD, but they have no choice but to sit tight hoping that (TIME) is kind to them and not to us...TIME has still not picked a side. Leaning Left yes, but Right could still win with TIME.
