After decades of listening to conservatives bitch about "activist judges" and their agendas, once they are handed power, they go straight for doing that exact thing.
Roe V. Wade,
Supreme Court rejects multibillion-dollar Purdue Pharma opioid settlement that shielded Sackler family
Supreme Court halts Biden’s ‘good neighbor’ plan to curb smog
Supreme Court limits power of SEC to unilaterally enforce financial fraud regulations
etc, etc, etc.
The Supreme Court on Thursday rejected a controversial settlement that would have sent billions of dollars to treatment programs and victims of the nation’s opioid epidemic but also shielded the Sackler family from future lawsuits despite the fact that it made its fortune selling prescription opioids.
Justice Neil Gorsuch wrote the opinion for a 5-4 majority.
“The Sacklers seek greater relief than a bankruptcy discharge normally affords, for they hope to extinguish even claims for wrongful death and fraud, and they seek to do so without putting anything close to all their assets on the table,” Gorsuch wrote. “Describe the relief the Sacklers seek how you will, nothing in the bankruptcy code contemplates (much less authorizes) it.”
Kavanaugh said in dissent that the court’s decision will have a “devastating” impact on thousands of victims of the opioid epidemic.
“As a result, opioid victims are now deprived of the substantial monetary recovery that they long fought for and finally secured after years of litigation,” he wrote in the dissent, which was joined by Chief Justice John Roberts and liberal Justices Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan...

Dems still bringing a pencil to a gunfight.
Dems still think that the terrorists on the other side are somehow going to play by the rules of democracy and the rule of law.
The war started decades ago and the dems still think they are participating in a democracy where everyone puts democracy and country - over everything.
Terrorists are winning and have surprisingly made progress to turn the USA into a south africa style stealing of power by the minority.

The Supreme Court on Friday significantly weakened the power of federal agencies to approve regulations in a major decision that could have sweeping implications for the environment, public health and the workplace.
The 6-3 ruling, overturning a precedent from 1984, will shift the balance of power between the executive and judicial branches and hands an important victory to conservatives who have sought for years to rein in the regulatory authority of the “administrative state.”
The lawsuits were filed by two groups of herring fishermen challenging a Commerce Department regulation requiring them to pay the salaries of government observers who board their vessels to monitor the catch. But the decision will net a far wider swath of federal regulations affecting many facets of American life.
The decision overturns the Chevron v. Natural Resources Defense Council precedent that required courts to give deference to federal agencies when creating regulations based on an ambiguous law. Congress routinely enacts open-ended laws that give latitude to agencies to work out — and adjust — the details to new circumstances.
“Chevron is overruled,” Chief Justice John Roberts wrote in his majority opinion. “Courts must exercise their independent judgment in deciding whether an agency has acted within its statutory authority.”

looks like Stare Decisis is out the window.
as is the ability of the government to protect us against fraud and corporate malfeasance.
It is time to impeach and remove Thomas.

Chevron was the victory for the right when it happened, that's how far the right has goneThe rationale on the right in the 1990s was that Chevron had created a more predictable regulatory climate for business.
Hard to see how nonspecialist judges, all over the country, deciding instead of executive agencies, leads to more stable and predictable business conditions. Unless of course the whole point is to deep six the adminstrative state and turn business loose to foul the air, poison the soil, ripoff the public, and abuse its workers.
