View Full Version : IF Castle is a star from day 1 and a legitimate #2 option behind Wemby, what type of players would you surround them with?

Let’s say Castle is a good shooter from the get go and it’s immediately apparent that he will fulfill the second star role next to Wemby… how would you then fill the roster out? Would you keep Vassell as the third option on the team?
In this scenario, let’s pretend Castle’s performance is better than what any of the 2025 prospects will ever reach.

If he’s a good shooter and only if he’s a good shooter.
Keep Vassell use him as the SF or SG depending on who’s on the court.
Glue player PG like Marcus Smart or pass first PG that can at least keep it above 37% 3pt. Nembhard might be a guy that would work in that scenario.
If Castle can shoot and defend then Sochan isn’t a problem.
KCP type off the bench. Assuming Keldon is still here.

As I said, best case scenario is Bucks 2.0 with Castle/Devin/Wemby being Jrue/Middleton/Giannis.
Obviously Markkanen would be an ideal fit, our Brook with his floor spacing.
A couple of 3-D wings, one as a starter and one off the bench.
Jeremy as the glue guy off the bench and a reliable scoring guard as a 6th man.
A high-energy rim protector as Wemby's backup.
Best case scenario Harrison Ingram can become one of those rotation 3-D guys, kind of a Grant Williams type.
If we can't get Markkanen, just get two good shooting forwards instead of one of them being just average.
Obviously getting more complete players would be better, but getting forwards who can both shoot and create isn't cheap.
Having someone like prime Gallinari would be great.
This CBA is heavily restrictive towards teams with more than two max contracts and imo it works in our favor.
Wemby will surely be the best player in the league and not having to go against superteams will make things easier.

Klay Thompson
Kyle Lowry
and trade for Naz Reid

Draft Devin Carter. He’d be a great role player beside those two guys.

Cash Considerations or a 2034 protected pick tbh

I like Castle's pick but I don't see him being a star right away and if he's 2nd option it'd be by default.
Spurs are yet to find Victor's side kick imo, it has to be a player capable or carrying the scoring, which Castle won't be able to do at least fo a while.
Maybe 25' draft as I quit hoping for any surprise/big deal from this FO short term

I'd surround him with whoever they could have picked at 8.

I'm scouting 11 year olds that should be available in 2031

Yes, obviously people will have their opinion on whether this is likely or unlikely but that’s not the topic, man. Just play with the hypothetical.

Mobile, defensive big man for the 10-12 min that Wemby would be sitting. Other than that, I would fill the roster with 3&D role players. As many as we can get at every position. At a bare minimum, all this team needs is a play-maker (Castle in your hypothetical), Wemby, and defensive minded shooters that open the floor for Wemby to work.

How good could Castle be, if Castle wasn't Castle? As good as Castle could be, if Castle wasn't Castle.

Shooting, passing and high IQ (usualy goes with the latter) have to be the 3 unnegociable criterias. Whatever position
I still wanna see if Vassell passes a real step in terms of playmaking other than that BPA any position with said criterias
I'd keep Vassel and I'd look for 2 Jarabi Smith Jrs.
I'd want to keep Sochan bc every team needs an agitator on their team, but not sure I'd want to start him unless the shot really improved.

Yeah all the talk about Vassell being the only asset besides Victor is gonna dry up if he doesn't have more impact this year.

Big IF on Castle though. I told myself 3 yrs ago I'd stop saying, "if this kid gets his shot..." It very rarely happens but I'll go ahead and take you up on your query nonetheless.
Wings that can drive to the basket and shoot.
You do that and your indefensible collectively.
