May not have HAD to. Sometimes, changes are made to a given model year going forward, and if you don’t like those, you stick with an older year.

I actually think it’s cool that he didn’t go out and buy a million dollar Bugatti or some shit. He’s not quite Matt Bonner frugal, but is showing pragmatic flash.

They still have the clover leaf ramps in place for now, and it’s not hard to enter those a bit too hot, and lose traction.

Looks like a 911 GT3 RS (they still mKe them) which is an enthusiasts 911 (less bells and whistles, RWD all about performance)

A car that actually takes considerable skill to get the most of, skills that I'm sure 20-year Jeremy Sochan does not have unless he spent his formative years on a youth F1-path whilst in Europe.

A thing about cars like this is that when you see people in them driving like assholes, it's because that's the only way to properly drive them. They ride like shit if you operate them like you would a Honda Civic. I once watched one of Thomas J Henry's dipshit teenage sons stall out in his Ferrari like 7 times in a 60 second span because he doesn't know how to operate a vehicle like that.

I had a friend crash at this same spot - probably more the driver than that exit tbh

It’s probably both. Cloverleafs can be a bit tricky, but if you try to brake in the curve instead of before, you stand a good chance of the back end breaking loose,or even switching ends.

What blows my mind are the people who rent Porches / Ferraris / etc. in places like Las Vegas or Miami without ever having driven one. I can't imagine the insurance premiums those companies must have, and assume those cars are just driven into the ground.

Having recently seen Miami traffic / driving tendencies first hand, I wouldn't even want to drive my own shitty car out there, let alone a super sport. People drive like maniacs out there.

NBA player is a retard, more at 8.

If you want to drive a supercar, go to a race track somewhere and do some laps instead of embarrassing yourself in public.
Worst thing of all is that those cars are mostly really uncomfortable, especially for someone who's 6'8.

Many exotic rental agencies have monitoring devices with regards to speed, rev limiters, they measure tire tread depth etc

Real talk but he can do multiple 200k cars and laugh. That is nothing to him. 50k in damage is a few technical fouls. I like that he is a tad reckless from what we see here. This choir boy, sweet stuff needs to end if we want to start rebuilding something. Let the boys be boys.

Oh I'm not dissing on him at all. He earned that car, good for him. I'm just saying, I understand how he'd wreck it... because that's a special car that takes driving skill that most humans do not possess.

That's how players end up broke. The NBA (and sports in general) are full of examples.

Exotic or semi exotic cars are actually a decent store of value. I’ve basically made a side hustle on my toys over the years. Guys go broke not understanding taxes, gifting family/friends depreciating assets and blowing money in clithes, hoes and jewellery. Newer NBA players with 5ish years or more of longevity have proper financial advisory resources and are simply making too much money to go broke these days.

I mean statistically he’s probably not wrong. Many players probably only get one contract, and those that reup after do so on cheap deals. For every Wemby there are probably 15 Lonnie Walkers.

Not totally true - i mean there are dumbshits who combine their idiocy with underestimating a cars potential vs their incompetence

but the cars themselves are not complicated or difficult to drive and most supercars today are actually as easy to drive as any modern car.

Maybe those specifically built for the racetrack where the seats are fixed, a/c stripped out, and racing harnesses installed -
those might require some more effort to drive - but pretty sure this Porsche is not one of those.

It’s a testament to the indelible brand identity of the Porsche 911 that it is still called the 911, even after 9/11.

How many supercars have you driven? If you've ever driven a Ferrari, you know you can't simply roll off a stop light at 1800 rpm.

A Porsche 911 is affectionately known as the Daily Driver Supercar, but that generally refers to a base model. A 911 GT3 (this does not appear to be an RS) is a different beast.

Only a few but they werent mine,

of course the first couple times you are intimidated and the clutches are always like as stiff as a motherfucker and most people stall the car a time or two.

but its not rocket science and actually as the years have gone by, most supercars have been pussified as more and more marquee brands had to outdo each other in plushness and niceties and navi’s and automanuals and formula one type automatic kunt boxes

so just a little practice and a day at a track and any pretentious kunt is suddenly michael schumacher pre- paralysis…

Of which he has probably seen less than 10 million. Let's say for giggles that is $2,000,000 per year just the federal on 2 million is 750k. Now that he's with the Lakers instead of taxes he has state income tax which is also over 100k, and his agents fee, and then you're thinking that I have 2 million dollars and spending that 2 million when you really only "have 1 million then turn around and it is gone"

He was most recently with Brooklyn but similar state tax as LA. Just before he left for LA he bought a modest starter home in SA for like 500k. The NBA has solid resources for young fellas to manage their finances these days. I recall watching a podcast where JJ Reddick said he seldom sees young players go broke these days. Jonathan Simmons got AI money for 4 years.
