While Pop and his 3 top assistants (Brett Brown, Mitch Johnson and Matt Nielsen) are staying, Spurs have lost quite a lot of people in their coaching staff this summer. At least 3 assistants coaches are gone (Darius Songaila, Candice Dupree and Greg Stiemsma) and Austin Spurs lost their head coach (Will Voigt).
To replace them, Spurs have hired some young promising assistants from other teams: Scott King from Knicks as Austin HC and now Mike Noyes from Grizzlies. This kind of profile surely command a higher salary than an inexperienced coach or that to promote someone from within the organization. Speaking of promotion, Kneeny Trevino will surely get one after his good coaching with the SL team.

On the FO front, Brent Barry left and hasn't been really replaced. A big question is what kind of role RC Buford will have in the FO with the upcoming "Project Marvel". I hope Spurs will have a strong group to help Brian Wright evaluate players/prospects. Wright is great at some aspect of the GM job like trades and manipulating the CBA but his eye for talent is questionable.

Seems like he’ll be good, no? Considering the improvements the younger players of Memphis have had the past few seasons (JJJ, Ja, Bane, Brooks).

Dieng got hired for Austin. Doesn't mean it's a big move, but cool to see a former player that was respected kept in the family.

The Spurs have consistently pulled former players in as coaches (or front office staff). A lot of the better ones haven't necessarily been star players either.

Names like Ime Udoka, Jacque Vaughn, Brent Barry and Sean Marks all started their post-playing careers with the Spurs before moving on to other teams (I'm ignoring the TV stuff that Brent did when he first retired). Becky Hammon would be another name from their former WNBA team as well.

I believe that he and RC have ties that go all the way back to when he was a prospect in the early days of the NBA Africa program.
