Mahomes willing the refs to not call Aaron Donalds super obvious lined up offsides to deny Super Joe Burrow a chance to close the win was GOAT epic Mahomes for sure.

:lmao what the fuck kind of argument is this? Mahomes and the Chiefs had nothing to do with that game. They were knocked out in the last game. Why does it matter if a conference opponent wins the Super Bowl to him or not? That's one of the dumbest arguments I've ever seen written. If anything, if you're KC you want Cincinnati to win there to justify that you were the real second place team and not the Rams because at least you took Cinci to OT, had a big lead over them etc.

Such an easy call.

Hold your stinking horses, week 2 just started and the Jets had to play @ the 49ers, probably their hardest game of the season, in week 1. Rodgers' first game with all these new wideouts except Lazard. I'm still picking the Jets.

Yeah, Tua is done and Miami needs to go back into tanking mode. They already lost half their roster to FA and just paid Ramsey way too much to be the top paid CB for five more years on top of it, so they have a good excuse to tank this time.

Millennial_Messiah
09-13-2024, 01:13 AM
I hope so bro. Getting rid of the diva worked wonders for KC so ya never know
The offensive line has looked dominant for Buffalo in the run game the first 2 games, but Miami's defensive line is a shell of its last year's self considering it was gutted in free agency, and Arizona is Arizona. They have one more winnable game vs Jax and then they have back to back at Baltimore and at Houston, I don't see them winning either of those two.

Millennial_Messiah
09-13-2024, 01:13 AM
But yeah, Tua is dead. It's time to call it a career. Unfortunately Miami just paid him top dollar so if it's football injury they're stuck with the entire dead cap hit. They might as well start tanking now.

Millennial_Messiah

In fact I don't see them winning more than one of the Patriots games without Tagovailoa in the lineup.

It won't be up to Tua. I may be wrong, but I don't believe we'll ever see him step on an NFL football field again. Roger Gooddell was there, and the Dolphins have a bad history of managing concussions with this player.

The images of him turning into Verbal Kint after every hit are extremely damaging to the NFL. Violence is an easy sell, but those particular images don't go over well with the viewing public.

Way old reference, but for boxing fans who remember, Ray Boom Boom Mancini was the hottest ticket in town and must-see TV, and his fight against Doo Koo Kim was to this day the most intense match I ever saw (albeit years later after it was fought). When the public found out Kim never woke from his coma and died, Mancini's popularity tanked, and the sport suffered. Even the ref calling the fight killed himself (I think). Watching death or brain damage in real time is not an easy sell to families. NFL has always been violent, even moreso in years past, but after big hits guys would just get knocked out cold and lay motionless. That is easier to watch than somebody posturing from brain trauma.

It's a Tua problem. His body is not that of an NFL player. He stupidly didn't slide once he passed the sticks too. This kid will die on the field one day if allowed to play again and the NFL knows that.

He's done.

I agree with all these points. And Goodell being there at the game just cements this probability even more. At least with RG3 it was mostly the legs that took the punishment and he was spared the brunt of the concussions. This guy Tua has been one serious concussion away from retirement for at least a couple of years. And oddly fitting that it was Damar Hamlin of all people that he could have collided with that quite likely ended his career. Life works in mysterious ways, man.

The thing that will be sticky is the brand new contract for Tua and Miami. If he's not medically cleared and/or reaches an injury settlement, the Dolphins will bear the full extent of his guaranteed money which is a whopping $168M over four years ($42M per year through 2028). Normally, for an extenuating circumstance like this especially when the league is involved in the decision, the league would give the team some kind of compensation in the form of cap relief and potentially an extra premium draft pick... but given that the Dolphins openly, outwardly and flagrantly tanked the 2019 season to get him, I'd say that Goodell and the league are probably looking at the franchise with very little sympathy (even if full sympathy for the player). The team has already recently been docked draft picks for multiple reasons. They might award them something like a bottom-second round comp pick in 2025 and still stick them with the full cap hit, which would crush the team's winning chances for a few years.

I agree with just about all of this except the Dolphins tanking in 2019. They started the year as one of the worst teams I've seen in my lifetime, coming out the gates like 0-7 or some shit, then finished the year 5-11, winning games in Week 16 and 17 (the latter upsetting the Patriots and costing them the #1 seed). In fact, Finfans to this day hate Flores because he cost them a chance at Burrow with his anti-tanking

Heading to Arlington now. Six Flags tomorrow and game on Sunday.

Based, but it's gonna be like 99. Make sure to get a back row seat on Titan (the helix before the mid course break run gives insane G forces especially in the heat that might make you grey out) and New Texas Giant (RMCs coasters are always best in the back). Also, let me know if Shockwave is back open (the older green looping Schwartzkopf coaster that's easily visible from I-30 but a bit hard to find in the park, it's behind the big red oil derrick) - last time I was there it was April 19th with friends and that back part of the park was shut down due to flooding - the river runs through the park and tends to flood that section near the oil derrick when it rains as it's low-lying.

As for food if you're going in a group i'd recommend getting the all day dining plan it's like $31.99 and you can share and mix and match, get food every 90 minutes, Ma Hunkel's in DC Gotham City still has the good wings on the meal plan, and there's also plenty of other good options like Texas Tacos, philly cheesesteak (if that part of the park is open), Tostito's carne asada tacos, and Chop Six chinese (again, in the flood zone part of the park)... other than that it's the typical amusement park fare (bbq sandwiches, turkey legs, "tenders", hot dogs, burgers, fries, pizza etc).

The Oktoberfest food which starts tomorrow there might also be on the meal plan... I know it is at Fiesta Texas, went last weekend... actually I'd appreciate you if you found out for me on my behalf, actually I'd also appreciate if you asked about that on my behalf (whether it's on the meal plan or not - also the seasonal promo food at both Six Flags Over Texas and Fiesta Texas tend to be some of the best food in the park).

The thing is Tua WAS the consensus #1 overall pick in 2020 and had been for at least two years, and only Burrow's SEC championship victory over Bama + national title + Heisman at the very end of the 2019 NCAAF season + Tua's late-2019 season injury at the end of his Bama career which changed all of that in Burrow's favor. Before that, Burrow wasn't even a consensus top 3 QB in that draft.

"Tank for Tua" was a real thing and Miami had bought into that and planned for that for a very long time. Sure, they won some games down the stretch, but that was mainly after the Tua injury and Burrow's ascent anyway, so it roughly evened out. But the scores from the first few games of the season pointed to blatant tanking.

Also Darth_Pelican (https://www.spurstalk.com/forums/member.php?u=22958) if you haven't ridden it before at Six Flags Over Texas the Texas SkyScreamer is 400+ feet tall and a must-ride, you get to see both downtown Dallas and downtown Fort Worth from either direction while swinging that high in the air for about a minute. You actually can see to where the metroplex ends in all directions and city and suburbia gives way to forests and farmland. It's way better than the mediocre version at Six Flags Fiesta Texas which is half as tall and an extremely milquetoast view of the quarry and surrounding woodland and La Cantera suburbia.

Wind is expected to be light tomorrow and no precip so everything *should* be open and operational, not sure if they've re-opened the old woodie (Judge Roy Scream) as that had been under construction for awhile last time I was there with Nick and Bradley/his wife Lexy.

Flores was at best a knight on the chessboard though. The fans and Ross all wanted Tua. The media picked Tua to Miami as early as the end of the 2018 regular season. It was the media's dream fit. Tropical and southern boy goes to tropical and southernmost team.

To be fair to Prescott, that INT was on the WR Brooks for slipping on the in-route and Prescott isn't the one (Zimmer) responsible for the Saints putting up 35, 5 touchdowns on 5 drives, in Dallas in the first half.

Purdy, Prescott, Jackson, Richardson, Lawrence all had shitty games. But, out of the QBs today I'm most disappointed in today, it's Jared Goff.

That's got to be some of the most awful last-drive game management from a QB that I've ever seen, and it proves Detroit under Campbell A) made a big mistake with the new top end contract with Goff, and B) won't make or win the Super Bowl as long as Goff is the starting QB.

How does a 9-year veteran starting QB, drafted first overall no less, not know that you can't throw short passes over the middle of the field when you're down more than a field goal needing a TD late in the game? I mean he was handed great field position with a spare timeout, no less. Apart from the Williams no/catch on the sideline all he did was throw 4-6 yard curls to the middle of the field, well short of the goal line with no timeouts and they would have run out of time even if they were caught... Seriously Jared Goff? Detroit is in huge trouble. The average middle school starting QB would know better than that.

Millennial_Messiah
09-15-2024, 03:50 PM
Not to semen shield for Prescott but he was far from the reason Dallas lost and snapped their two-year home winning streak today. When the defense gives up 44 points and 90% conversion on third down, five touchdowns on five drives in the first half, you can't fault the guy for chucking it into double coverage down 22 in the fourth to your best player, and the first INT was the young WR slipping on the in route.

Prescott did enough in the first half to win the game. The running game still looks shot (Deuce Vaughn is nothing like Prime Tony Pollard pre-injury. I don't know wtf the coaches see in him? He has no quickness, no lateral agility, and I don't think he's ever gotten more than a 3 yard gain on a rush play. Also he's not a great receiver) and the middle of the line doesn't block the way they used to. Prescott is missing his favorite middle target (tight end Ferguson) which is a major issue on got-to-have-it type drives, playing from behind. Doesn't quite trust Schoonmaker yet to fill that void. Lamb again disappeared in the second half, but was getting triple covered every play. Tolbert has been awful but he did make a few plays today, but settling for FGs early and not being able to run for more than 3 ypg is killing this offense.

Millennial_Messiah

Reid still the same conservative old fuck of always. Imagine kicking the FG on 4th and goal with 1 yard to go in 2024. :lol

I don't get why Reid is afraid to sneak Mahomes. Probability wise it's a low injury risk play for the QB because it's not high speed at all. Yes it happened once in 2019 and cost them a few games that year (but not the Super Bowl) but it was a fluke and it's dumb as rocks to go away from a money play just because your demigod QB got injured once in his career because of it.

How did Burrow just completely not see that blitz at all? He has way too many brain hiccups for an elite QB.
Yeah even Malik Willis would’ve seen that coming tbh

This is shaping up to be the most boring season in recent memory tbh. Chiefs will go something like 13-4 and sleepwalk their way to a threepeat.

So Payton didn’t go for the onside kick and now Denver gets the ball back with 20 seconds left. Very elite coaching!

If you look at Payton's resume in New Orleans, it's just about exactly identical to McCarthy's in Green Bay; especially when you consider they both had an elite QB for almost the same time frame. I assume the only reason everyone thought the former was a "great coach" while the latter wasn't was because McCarthy is a lard a$$ who gives off the impression of being lazy tbh imho

The Texans coach looks like an even more clueless version of Charlie Strong. 4th and inches at their 30, your O Line is moving bodies and you kick the FG?

Watch Taylor make the call. :lol

1. You're allowed to engage the first 5 yards.
2. Watch Taylor Kelce grab 33 by his wrists and shove off. Offensive interference if anything.

The call nullified an INT of Mahomes. Altho the same drive the Bengals got another legit INT which was allowed.

Imagine still caring about the Cowboons in 2024. Everyone knows the Dallas Cowboons are just an attention seeking digital marketing business designed to maximize shekels by staying "somewhat competitive" year in and year out so that the analyst apes on Tyrone Sports Network keep talking about them every Monday morning and giving them attention. Jerruh basically shoved a giant dildo up your a$$ last year by keeping things status quo so that he can retain them as the #1 most profitable organization. Tyrone keeps repping that Dak Prescott jersey and Shaniqua still 'twerkin that thang' at Ekko Lounge at every Dallas Cowboys Post game party and the shekels keep rollin in. Based on context clues, I'm beginning to believe that you/ DOK / Will Hunting (https://www.spurstalk.com/forums/member.php?u=17032), Fat Brandon Bass (https://www.spurstalk.com/forums/member.php?u=54479), JasonGarrett (https://www.spurstalk.com/forums/member.php?u=52792), and even Clipper Nation (https://www.spurstalk.com/forums/member.php?u=28500) are all the same person.... while certainly a funnier and more cohesive schtick than all the derp alts in 2021, it's kind of becoming a bit obvious at this point.

you supporting the Chargers (finally, again)... Will going with Struggle (it's appropriate, but CN founded that term) Wilson yesterday... you "two" quoting and using the same memes about ghetto black life in Dallas... it just makes too much sense.

Got there around 12:30 and stayed till around 7. The heat just takes it out of you. All of the rides were open except Judge Roy Scream. Top 3 rides were Titan, Texas Giant, & Mr. Freeze.

Yup, that's typically my experience as well, but don't like to go when it's 90+. I think Judge Roy Scream has been down since the beginning of the year at least, but it's good that everything else is up and open. And absolutely that's the top 3 no doubt.

As bad as Texas heat is, I'd reckon Louisiana heat is even worse, since it's much more humid, the nights stay extremely sultry like a sauna, and you don't even have a winter/cool weather at all even in Dec to Feb. There's a reason that hot peppers (native to the tropics) grow year round there.
