In this thread you post predictions about the upcoming season. There are two competing sides here though that will be against each other. You can be sunshine and rainbows Spurs will be great this year and every player of ours will work out and improve and have a long and successful career here. You can add on PATFO have more experience than any of us idiots could ever dream of so of course what they say is correct and their long term plan is the one we should always follow. Heck you can be the ultimate sniffer and predict playoffs this year with Castle winning ROY.

Or you can be Debbie downer. Pop lost his fastball and can’t develop players anymore. Team can’t shoot the ball and will lose a buncha games bc of it. Castle will be a bust. Wemby is carrying scrubs. Fire Wright for trading away the 8th pick bc Dillingham is the perfect bench. And the Spurs will finish bottom 3 in the west and last in the division. Otherwise the ultimate hater.

You can even do a little bit of both but in that case you will still have to designate a team to choose. Either “hater” or “sniffer.” Just a little fun here bc we all know that (myself included) everyone is going to blow up this year fighting about this team.

I will predict that Castle will play under 25 minutes a game. He will not be our backup PG until January. He will average 7 points and 2 assists and 2 rebounds a game. And he will not be on Rising Stars or make an all rookie team.

Wemby will win DPOY award. He will finish all nba 2nd team due to injuries of other star players like Lebron, Embiid, Kawhi. He will average 23 ppg 11 rebounds and 3 blocks a game along with 3 assists. And he makes his first all star game. He plays under 32 minutes a game.

One of Sochan, Vassell, or KJ gets traded at the deadline.

Due to injuries Spurs finish last in the division.

We get extremely lucky and finish with two Top 10 picks including one in the top 4.

Sniffer Elite position is to not have any prediction other than whatever happens will be part of some grand PATFO plan that none of us are capable of understanding, and that even if I make a prediction now that turns out completely unwarranted, I can later come back and say that I was confused and simply not in tune with the Grand CIA Pop Plan.

See: 2023-24 NBA Season, SpursTalk Forums for evidence of this in practice.

I think this all sounds about right.

I'd add in these additional predictions:

We lose multiple close games, several of which are due to coaching malpractice. Sniffers here chalk it up to tanking, letting the young guys cut their teeth, etc. It will all be justified as part of some grand plan.
Sochan continues to fail to develop. Sniff crew tells us that we just need to be patient. Growth plates may still be open, we just don't know.
Chris Paul leads the team in "wtf did I sign up for" facial expressions
There will be an increase in prominent NBA media calling Pop out. Sniff Crew will point to this as evidence of a biased cabal out to destroy the Spurs franchise
Exstatic will remind us that Sam Presti traded 3 draft picks for Osmane Dieng, so watching that team succeed should be discounted
Branham will get more minutes than Castle for way too many games to start the season
There will be multiple trades in the league that would seem to make sense for the Spurs to have made, but we won't. It will be okay, because those 20131 picks are just around the corner
The Hawks will over-perform this message board's expectations. We'll trade that pick away for peanuts on the dollar. This website will come up for some justification why it was actually a good thing

I hope I'm wrong on all of these, tbh.

That's my representation of win possibilities. If everything clicks as well as possible, they can push a play-in spot. I think they'll win about 30-32 games though.

Meanwhile, this forum will be swarmed with people who don't actually want the team to be successful. Instead they get their joy from pissing all over everything, including themselves, relentlessly, like an obnoxious, constant downpour of piss, and people with low post counts will run in to join the constant thunderstorms of piss because they want to be like the cool kids of piss cyclones and piss hurricanes.

Mr. Body loves piss. A hot stream of it right to his face is his preferred method.

I hope and pray the spurs will tank and end up with 27 wins or less but I think they will win about 30 or so.

Wemby will take another step and become a legit allnbaer, DPoY, 25/12/4/4/2 season.

Castle will be coming out of the gate extremely slowly, with a bunch of games where he plays 5-10 mins with no discernible reason. He will end the season as a 10/3/4 guy with good defence. But also lots of fouls. All rookie second team.

Vassell will have his averages dip, because the first half of the season comes up extremely slow, but will ramp up and average about 22 ppg after the break.

Sochan will not show much statistical improvement, but will shoot and make more 3s. His defence will take a step back, shirl his ball handling will see some improvement.

CP will be a steady hand but will be a 25mpg guy.

Barnes will be a huge disappointment stats wise. Will take a notable dip in production from years past.

Champaigne will shoot way more threes and make it at a decent 37/38% clip. He will play solid defence but won’t do much otherwise.

Braham and Wesley will be one good game out of every 10 games, but never together.

Tre jones will be like last year, but be on 20 mpg.

Many will play spot minutes and spurs talk will scream their heads of about how he’s the second best player on the team.

Bassey will be injured some more

The spurs end up with the 9th and 11th pick of the draft.

Vegas I think has the over/under at 35.5

Take the under

Play in team despite Pop. CP3 was brought here to coach the team and between his desire to win and Vics talent this will be at least a play in team.

Wesley and Branhim still play way to many minutes and their will be more than one stretch of games where Collins is the worst backup big in the league but keeps getting trotted out there while Bassey rots on the bench.

I'm torn on a lot of things.

I liked the decision to trade #8 for 2 FRPs, but I really though we'd pull off Markkanen trade or get someone else. Like this, it would've been better to take a swing on one of the available wings.
Brian Wright has proven to be great at accumulating assets, but the question remains will he be as good of a buyer because sooner or later we'll need a big trade or two.

Pop looks past it most of the time, but every once in a while he'll show he still cares. We missed out on so many great options because he probably overstayed his welcome. My biggest fear is that Brett Brown could take over in a year or two.

I wanted Castle and he was obviously the right pick, CP3 was also a great addition to show the young guys how it's done, but it left those guard positions overcrowded while we don't have a single legit wing other than Barnes and our backup bigs are easily the worst in the league except for teams that bottomed out.

I guess this season we'll actually try to win games, but there won't be much pressure. If we do well - great, if we don't we'll get another high pick.
The roster is still full of uncertainties and most players will need to show they're worthy of a roster spot next season when we'll hopefully start competing.
Devin, Castle, Wemby being the only long-term locks. I'd even say that Devin's future could be at risk if he can't stay healthy.
Jeremy, Tre, Wesley, Branham, Champagnie, Mamu are all at risk if they don't improve this season.
