That first quarter and I knew we were in for a fucked night. This game just emphasis the sheer lacking of spacing, and it'll take trades (plural) to rectify that.

Our offense is just tragic without Devin. No self-creation whatosever.
We can't get anything going, every possession takes monumental effort to even get into good positions.
As timvp wrote, Barnes did nothing. Some of it is on him, but the team needs to do better, feels like they're not even considering him in most possessions.
I'd rather have him go 1-10 than 1-4 while worse offensive players are wasting possessions.
B2B against Portland coming up, losing that one would push us into full tank mode yet again.
10/11 upcoming games are at home, if we're to actually try and compete, we must be at .500 at the end of this run.

I think Mitch should start Mamu to help with the spacing and bring Castle off the bench to assist with running the offense. Not to mention Mamu playing beside Victor would help cover his defensive issues

The only win so far without any concerns was against Minnesota. You try to be patient and understanding with injuries but without those two, this team is completely lifeless. As much as I agree that Wemby is probably frustrated and maybe disappointed in this team, he’s a good chunk of the problem. It’s way too early to call him a bust, but he’s definitely been exhibiting bust type behavior. I’m a little concerned for him at this point.

For all the stuff he brings on offense Mamu is worse than Zollins on defense.

The good: There were flashes of Wembanyama figuring out how to score against shorter, stronger defenders. Quick, powerful moves work best in such situations.
One on one 2 feet from the basket. Such an accomplishment

This game showed how bad this team still is. Without fundamentals of Sochan and CP there is a mess.

There wasn’t enough offense in the SL. I would start Mamu for Sochan. He rolls to the basket and should open Wemby.

The ball fumbling just shows a lack of preparation, coaches and players. Spurs looked like an expansion team. Somebody needs to elbow Barnes early in these games and wake him up. I agree that Mamu needs to be playing. His stroke and willingness to play in the lane is needed, and since nobody besides Vic is doing much on D, no damage is added. Hard to remember a NBA team that had a harder time just running a play when they needed a bucket. Would like to think Vic’s shots are being analyzed so they can sit down with him and help him improve. Sure looks like a team of discouraged players considering they’ve only had a handful of games.

For all those longing for the return of Devin, likely he will be rusty for a bit but once he gets his wind he will be good for the team. The unappreciated Tre Jones is also a rotation piece that would help being back as well.

Without Jeremy or pop, it seems like the team has lost their confidence. Not to mention, their superstar is playing like crap and not making anyone better. In a sense, I can see why he played well at the end of last year with Mamu and Sidy, because they moved the ball around the court so quickly, it doesn't get stuck too long, including with Victor.
Let's tank for Duke`s white guy

I do forget that Vassell and Jones are already out, along with now Sochan. The team's depth is awful to begin with. 3 of our starters from last year are not playing. Spurs added 2 starters in the offseason, but that just means we are probably at a status quo

WORD.
I really hope this is a sign Mamu should be getting more minutes. His defense is nothing to write home about, but Zollins sucks there too.
I was about to kick my TV last night as I watched Zach stand 4 feet off of Sengun with his hands down in the paint just to let him drop a casual jumper over his head.

If there's anyway to prove you are bad at talking about basketball or knowing anything it's even mentioning the word bust and Wemby together in the same post. This is just so incredibly stupid.

I keep seeing really bad pick and roll defensive rotation and just poor rotation in general. How are these guys not improving in this area? Surely this is beaten to death in tape.

He's actually almost never by himself, but he makes Wemby pause and it allows help defense when he tries to dribble.
Wemby knows he has to do it, he said it in a french interview last summer, but still doesn't go straight to his move when he receives the ball.
The longer he waits, the easier it gets for opp (help) defenses

We can't defend NOR play the pick and roll. It's always been the case. They just don't work on it, it's obvious

Not only might Devin be rusty, the offense has no structure or movement at all… Devin back in the starting lineup is just going to result in what we saw from Devin last year… him dribbling the air out of the ball on the perimeter before putting up a really difficult shot that he makes at a high clip.
Devin isn’t going to fix the offensive woes on the team, because they are structural and while Devin will absolutely raise the talent level of the unit on the floor, he isn’t good enough to single-handedly make a structurally bad offense look good. Only a handful of players are (Luka, Ant, SGA, etc).

Collins atrocious performance gets a C, the Deep Bench all play 8 minutes but that’s not enough for any more than an Inc grade… Timvp is already in the midseason form that we’ve come to expect from these tanking years.

1 rebound in 15 minutes warrants a C. :)
Wesley is a lost cause, tbh.
Couldn't drive past Landale in garbage time, embarrassing.

Someone who gets it. We’re a young and learning team that’s down two starters and another rotation player.

we have to have players that can score for chrissakes.
its just a bunch of try-hards that hopefully one day can shoot and Wemby, who hasn't been able to shoot either so far this year.
i'm just so exhausted watching these guys brick shot after shot.
everyone "plays the right way" but the "right way" involves ACTUALLY FUCKING SCORING every once in a blue moon.

The Chris Paul effect is that the Spurs suddenly are a below average assist team? ... last three seasons the Spurs were top 5 in the league in assists per game .. now we are 19th. No wonder this is really tough to watch.

I was surprised too that our assist numbers are really low. Then again we don’t really hit shots, so it’s hard to get assists :lol

i mean we are a bad shooting team.We are missing open 3s and missing layups.About half of us said branham and wesley along with keldon
and collins should be off the team. What do we do?We fucking extend them.Four rotation players who dont even look like nba players half the time.

It takes making shots to generate assists. Also, the high assist number is not necessarily indicative of a good offense. Sometimes, it just indicates a roster of players that can’t generate baskets on their own

its a bit of everything ... we don't make shots ... Paul and Wemby take a lot of unassisted shots
without Sochan cutting it will not get better :spin
