nice win! wonder how long it took us to secure 10 wins last year?

January 27th

Let’s hope Wemby doesnt miss time. He already only has 15 more games that he can miss. This is a new era now, we should give a fuck about awards.

Yup. Better than sitting at 27-30mpg, that’s a sure way he won’t ever get used to 35mpg and up.

We got win #10 on January 27 last year.

would be nice for the spurs to have a game that they just control through and through without needing a huge comeback or giving up a huge comeback only for a dramatic finish

You got your wish :toast

It’s been a long time since the Spurs showed that they’re the better team. That was a pretty controlled game.

You know he cares about that shit and so should he tbh. Big 3 spurs was able to get away with it because they were winning championships anyway. But look at how they’re looked at now individually, less because of the lack of awards.

:lol the Spurs will be in first place in the group if the Lakers lose and the Suns win by less than 21 points in their game going on right now. I think my math checks out.

Mitch showing great rotation. Champ’s defense is getting better and better, defending even Markkanen and not getting him get to his spot. Great defense

Not really in control through and through, tbh. It was basically tied coming into the 4th.

Do 2 teams qualify per group?

Yeah, we dicked around defensively in the 1st half.

Offense was the definition of consistency doe. 30 pts or more in every Quarter.

Do 2 teams qualify per group?

6 group winners and 2 best second place teams.

Our math is simple, got to beat the Suns in Phoenix for 3-1 W/L and we're good.

What about OKC? They're still at 1 loss in the group.

Unless OKC wins their 2 games and take over point differential

I guess either as a group leader or as one of the best 2nds, 3-1 should get you to the next round.

If the Lakers lose by 20 tonight, gotta root for them against OKC on Friday in a squeaker.

If the Spurs and OKC both finish 3-1 (which means both Lakers and Suns finish with 2 losses), wouldn't head to head result matter over pt differential?

I hope Vassell can fit in with this team when he comes back.
Sochan should flourish with the defensive focus and screen and cut offense

Thunder haven't played the Lakers yet, meaning they can't both finish 3-1, two teams will be at 3-1 when the group is done.
Then we hope points differential is good enough if we beat the Suns.

PT Diff is the first tie breaker.

Yeah H2H is first tiebreaker. LA has to lose the next game at OKC and we beat PHX.

And Dallas has a +41 and will almost certainly advance as 2nd best team in the West if they beat Memphis.

Sorry I stand corrected. I misread it initially:

In the event two or more teams are tied within a group, the tie among the teams will be broken according to the following tiebreakers (in sequential order):
• Head-to-head record in Group Play;
• Point differential in Group Play; ^^
• Total points scored in Group Play; ^^
• Record from the 2023-24 NBA regular season; and
• Random drawing (in the unlikely scenario that two or more teams are still tied following the previous tiebreakers).

Yeah H2H is first tiebreaker. LA has to lose the next game at OKC and we beat PHX.

So what is it? It doesn't make sense for pt differential to be first tiebreaker in a two teams race.

Why?

He's had a pretty busy last year and a half tbh. Team will prolly try to sit him as much as they can. That being said, if the team continues to play this well he might force their hand.

I was going to argue with you, but then I realized you are right. He does have post move.

There were moments when he posted, he was waiting for the double-team to start the mis-match or take his defender to hole. That shows a growing maturity on Wemby’s game. And kudos to Mitch for drawing those plays.

Thats what Im banking on. I had this team with play-in expectations before the season started with Wemby getting 2nd team and DPOY. My prediction is looking good so far.

Liked seeing Mitch adjust the second half subs and rotations.

In the post game, he didn't call out Collins, said it was just trying to reward "Charlie" (Bassey) for his strong performances last week. Like that he is sending a message but not trying to publicly call out his guys.

Loved the offensive boards in the second half... Spurs becoming a very formidable 4th quarter team!

Haha... it was funny listening to Danny try to cover his tracks on that one. I forgot they played together in Philly. Danny said he was disappointed when the Sixers let him go.

But speaking of Danny in Philly, he also would have spent some time with Julian there. Danny is the 99th percentile outcome for Julian and the ideal archetype for what we need from the 3... maybe Danny could backfill Mitch's spot on the bench?

I was joking. You said "post move" which is singular. Victor has a single effective post move: he turns to face up.

In other words, he sucks with his back to the basket. If his teammates aren't cutting and screening while he has his back to the basket, most of what is about to happen is bad.
