In June 2021, Yoon announced his candidacy in the 2022 South Korean presidential election. He joined the right-wing People Power Party (PPP) in July and won its nomination in November. Considered conservative and economically liberal, Yoon ran on a platform promising economic deregulation and measures such as abolishing the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family.

Yup, sounds like your average conservatard...

Because deMOOcracy has failed in today's Shitmerica, it's long overdue time for the dawn of the Great American Empire. Authoritarian, right-wing, strong and not to be trifled with.

Just like ancient Rome didn't really take off strong until it abolished demoocracy in favor of Julius and Augustus Caesar and the Great Roman EMPIRE. I wish (but not optimistic about it) that Trump and Vance could be somewhat of the USA's Julius and Augustus Caesar. Because the world was built by great MEN, great INDIVIDUALS, great kings and leaders of MANkind, not by voting or democracy, and certainly not by homeless plebs on foodstamps and women voting to decide the outcome of a country, hell women can't even make proper basic decisions in life because they're mentally wired to put feelings over facts. Hell even in pre-industrial times when women were put in charge of society their societies decayed because they couldn't lead due to menstruation cramps.

If we could all hold a vote to sunset voting and demoocracy for the executive branch (i.e. sunset presidential elections) I would vote yea without hesitation.

After Augustus it was just a bunch of assassinations and paranoia.

I dont believe the entire world needs to live like USA.

I believe countries can and have to pick what style of life is best for them at the time.

If North Korea would not be sanctioned to hell by the world at US behest. They probably would have a more similar life than SoKo.

Same applies to other countries like Venezuela, Iran, etc

The chief of the Army Special Warfare Command said Tuesday he was ordered by President Yoon Suk Yeol to drag out lawmakers from the National Assembly building during martial law operations last week.

Lt. Gen. Kwak Jong-keun made the claim during a parliamentary defense committee meeting, saying Yoon called him on a secured phone.
"He said the quorum didn't appear to be met yet, so I should break down the doors, and go in and drag out the people inside," he said.

Kwak said he consulted with commanders in the field about whether to storm into the parliamentary building while firing blanks or cut off power to stop the lawmakers from voting.

The commanders advised against such actions, and Kwak said he agreed with their judgment.

"Even if they were to go inside to execute the order, the troops involved would later become lawbreakers and too many people would be injured if they broke their way in, so I judged it wasn't right," he said.

"I told them not to go inside further, and after seeing them move away, I stopped them from undertaking any additional operations," he added.

South Korea's parliament on Saturday impeached President Yoon Suk Yeol over his stunning and short-lived martial law decree, a move that ended days of political paralysis but set up an intense debate over Yoon's fate, as jubilant crowds roared to celebrate another defiant moment in the country's resilient democracy.

The National Assembly passed the motion 204-85. Yoon's presidential powers and duties were subsequently suspended and Prime Minister Han Duck-soo, the country's No. 2 official, took over presidential powers later Saturday.

President Yoon Suk Yeol removed from office as court upholds impeachment

The Constitutional Court upheld the impeachment of President Yoon Suk Yeol, resulting in his immediate removal from office. The decision to remove the president from office was unanimous, with all eight Constitutional Court justices voting in favor, 8–0.

The ruling came 111 days after the National Assembly passed the impeachment motion against Yoon, accusing him of treason for declaring martial law on Dec. 3, 2024. It had been 122 days since the martial law declaration that sparked the impeachment.

Acting Chief Justice Moon Hyung-bae began reading the reasoning for their ruling at 11 a.m., and the decision to remove Yoon from the presidency was finalized at 11:22 a.m.

"The respondent declared the martial law in question with the intent of overcoming a standoff with the National Assembly, then deployed military and police forces to obstruct the Assembly’s exercise of its constitutional authority, thereby denying the principles of popular sovereignty and democracy," Moon read the court's decision statement, emphasizing that Yoon abandoned his responsibility to safeguard the Constitution and gravely betrayed the trust of the sovereign people of the Republic of Korea.

Yoon tried to start a war with NK so he could declare martial law

The temptation for Trump to do something similar will only increase as his tyrannical regime gets more unpopular and his power continues to wane

To justify a case for martial law, former President Yoon Suk Yeol tried to provoke neighboring North Korea into taking military action, South Korean prosecutors alleged Monday, according to domestic media.

Speaking to reporters, special counsel Cho Eun-suk said that Yoon and his military commanders tried to lure North Korea into mounting an armed aggression against the South, but this failed as Pyongyang did not resort to military force.

Cho and his team have indicted 24 people, including Yoon and five cabinet members, on insurrection charges following a six-month investigation.https://www.cnbc.com/2025/12/15/to-justify-martial-law-former-south-korean-president-yoon-tried-to-provoke-north-korea.html

Former Prime Minister Han sentenced to 23 years for aiding Yoon's Dec. 3 insurrection

The court found that declaring martial law and issuing emergency decrees amounted to an insurrection, meaning that Han had played a critical role in that insurrection by neither expressing opposition to the martial law declaration during the Cabinet meeting, convened just before Yoon's announcement, nor preventing the meeting from taking place in a formal setting.

“The insurrection could have been prevented had Han fulfilled his duty,” the court said. “He also accepted then-Interior Minister Lee Sang-min’s proposal to cut off power and water supplies” to media outlets.

A South Korean court has sentenced the former president Yoon Suk Yeol to life imprisonment with labour over his failed martial law declaration (https://www.theguardian.com/world/2024/dec/03/south-korean-president-declares-emergency-martial-law) in December 2024, finding him guilty of leading an insurrection and making him the first elected head of state in the country’s democratic era to receive the maximum custodial sentence.

The Seoul central district court found that Yoon’s declaration of martial law on 3 December 2024 constituted insurrection, carried out with the intent to disrupt the constitutional order.

The charges stem from events on the night of 3 December 2024, when prosecutors said Yoon attempted to use military force to paralyse the legislature (https://www.theguardian.com/world/2025/jan/21/south-korea-yoon-suk-yeol-denies-ordering-troops-drag-out-lawmakers), arrest political opponents and seize control of the national election commission. Yoon claimed he was rooting out “anti-state forces” and alleged election fraud (https://www.theguardian.com/world/2025/jan/28/yoon-suk-yeol-impeachment-charges-insurrection-supporters) without providing evidence.https://www.theguardian.com/world/2026/feb/19/yoon-suk-yeol-sentenced-to-life-in-prison-for-leading-insurrection-in-south-korea
