Poll.

Selections:

-The fanbase. I love to talk about the Spurs with other people.

-The highs and lows. The Spurs were once the best. They’ve been recently the worst. I believe they’ll return to former glory. The whole journey’s worth it.

-Nostalgia. Today’s Spurs have some semblance of yesterday’s Spurs, of which I hold in fond memory.

-Their uniqueness: from era to era, I appreciate the strategic way the organization operates, always zigging when others zag.

-How they handle things with class. When they lose, they also win. It’s easy to be proud of the Spurs because they do things the right way.

-They represent my hometown of San Antonio. The Spurs do great things for the community in the city I call home.

Robinson, Duncan and now Wemby. I live closer to Dallas but been a fan of the Spurs since I was a kid because of Tim and DRob.

Best managed sports organization. Spurs had ups and downs, mostly blindsided by ungrateful nephew. But for the most part, ex-Spurs had great experience and memories of their time with the organization, because PATFO always try to do good with their players, even to their detriment at times. But in the long run, it’s all good. The Spurs are the model of a small market organization, how they can compete with the big market. I’ve often used the mantra of “pounding the rock” in my pep talks. Back then, everybody’s a specialist. Not everybody’s going to be a Duncan or a DRob, but one can be a Danny Green, a Bruce Bowen, a Malik Rose, Diaw, Splitter, Patty Mills. Individually, they may have their weaknesses, but are integral part of the whole. CIA Pops with his low-radar approach, no need to talk about and unnecessarily share your game plans, no dramas just eyes on the goal. Pop’s ability to win championships as the personnel got older, switching to different styles of play to maximize their potential. I doubt many coaches can do that. I still believe Pop is one of the best X and O coaches or if not the best. Haters would say sniffer, but that’s why I’m a Spurs fan through thick and thin, and not only when they were winning.

It’s a new era of Spurs basketball with Wemby and company. We don’t know if Pop is ever coming back. But as Mr Miyagi says, “if root is strong, the tree survive.” Keep pounding the rock!

None of that. I enjoy the actual games and our best players when they do good.

It has always been and will always be the players. From Ice to Artis to Alvin to David to TC to Sean to Tim to Tony to Manu to Kawhi to Lamarcus to Dejounte to Victor. It has been a hell of a fun ride.

I like the Game...and the Spurs are my local team to watch the Game.

They are a terrible team to watch the game right now. But...that's part of the game too. Good times, bad times. Warts and all...:)

Pop and his accountability required from his players from the franchise player to the 15th guy.

International players like Tony and Manu and a whole lot more.

Class front office and organisation with no scandals.

Started with David Robinson when I was a child and boy have they brought some memories so i’ll say nostalgia.

Close seconds:

- bitching and moaning about PATFO when we are losing
- OP’s meltdowns

The main reason is that they are my hometown team…. but I feel blessed to be represented by a high-class organization and doubly happy for the success they’ve had. I’m on this site for the highs and lows, the insights (to better understand and enjoy the games), and soap opera drama (for entertainment purposes)

Currently, roster and player development. The Spurs landed the grand prize, they have hefty chest of draft picks, and lots of salary flexibility. Hope they don't fuck it up; I know I wouldn't.

A year or two from now I want my response to be, watching the Spurs dog walk the league on their way to their sixth NBA title. And then? And then, in my lifetime, I want to see the Spurs pass the Celtics and Lakers for the most NBA titles. [/Daydream].

P.S. - Fuck Houston!

I put "nostlagia" by default.

I've tried supporting other teams with players I liked, but just couldn't. I'm a real addict even if don't even like the roster/coaching/ decision-making etc

Today only Wemby (the reason of my "full time return") and Castle's development draw my interest until PATFO finally build a real team.

I hope Pop comes back soon for entertainment purposes and bc we're going nowhere with Mitch

Baseline said it, the amount of legendary players this small market team has had.

And then even some all time role players (Horry, Boris, Danny, Bowen, etc.).

I would file those under nostalgia tbh

Hard to pick only one answer. I'm only interested in the Spurs, not the NBA in general. I watch nearly every Spurs game, but very very rarely watch any game that doesn't involve the Spurs. I just don't care about what other teams do.

It used to be the quality of the teams year in and year out but that's ancient history so i'll say the fanbase now.

Is there an explanation for why they're all fat hogs?

Nah hard to call Wemby nostalgia. I meant that there is usually at least one mindblowing player worth watching.

We're the players shaboinking the silver dancers? Maybe that was the reason besides the Spurs being P.C.

I answered Hometown Team but I'm not sure that really answers the question. That's certainly the reason of why I am a Spurs fan, but as far as what I enjoy most? Certainly they've provided us fans with more winning than most fans ever experience or deserve. We're still the winningest franchise in ANY of the 4 major sports, measured by win %. We have banners hanging from the rafters. We have multiple top-25 of all time players, with another one currently playing and just beginning his journey. We have the greatest head coach of all time. We're spoiled AS FUCK. I definitely enjoy all that winning. I enjoy the legacy. I enjoy talking to fans of other teams and rubbing it in their face that WE are the greatest franchise and THEY are not.

I also enjoy talking long-term strategy. I enjoy discussing the game-to-game tactics. I love the evaluations that we, as fans, get to make of our players, coaches and front office. While in the end, none of it actually matters, it's still enjoyable to me to talk about (and there is no need for anyone to kill themselves because they hold different opinions than mine). I enjoy diving into the analytics and understanding the gears and mechanisms that make the complex machine work. I look at the league, the team, the game like a Rolex... a simple machine made up of extraordinarily complex combination of simple parts.
