ROFL Bird used to have beers in the locker room after games, can't imagine trading him for that. That was so disrespectful when that Mavs exec (was it Nico? :lol) took away Luka's beer after earning that Finals berth.

"Many Mavs fans and season ticket holders reacted to the average 8% increase as could be expected."
They aren't even trying to hide they are trying to move the team out of Dallas.

That's honestly the best possible outcome at this point. Just wipe your hands clean, and get another expansion team to the DF dub to start from scratch. Whenever the Kyrie/AD "experiment" door closes in the next year or two, the Mavs are f*cked indefinitely

Man you guys are rebuilding the western powers between the Doncic trade to LA, the 2028 unprotected swap to OKC, the 2029 unprotected swap to Houston, and the unprotected 2030 swap to the Spurs. Didn't look so bad trading those swaps when it looked like you were gonna have Doncic and be title contenders but now JFC.

Actually clueless baseline bum I am tired of your insults as you are clueless to debate real tact. AD higher PER Luka and smokes him on all defensive analytcis.I know far more about the game than a total casual like you will ever know. I went to the Medical of Georgia and have a teaching appointment now at that University See my bio as a national director and a professor with positions including with the US Surgeon General. In basketball been a paid writer two sites, am considered a national expert on analytics and rankings, was Shaq's team doctor at Cole HS in SATX, and am a high level official did games with Adrian Dantley and 4 current NBA officials. https://www.publichealth.va.gov/about/bios/director-pre-911.asp Learn a little basketball (for it seems the first time) here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yw_KMvvARKI

Im basically just a pseudo-Laker fan at this point due to the weird unprecedented nature of this, but man this just feels so strange. It’s like a college powerhouse who just received the death penalty. You have to constantly remind yourself that it was 100% self inflicted.
Even when the A’s wanted to move , they didn’t trade prime MVP Jason Giambi midseason for rafael palmeiro

I'm 50/50 on the Vegas theory tbh
The obvious idiocracy type moves would make you think something is afoot. On the flip side, Dee Eff Dub is still a massive hub. Even if it is on par with Mogadishu Somalia in terms of quality of life, I can't really see billionaire Jews being ok with losing massive amounts of money in merchandise, ticket sales, etc even in the short term
Unless Trump is sending some of that money that would've gone to Ukraine straight to the Adelsons so that they can sacrifice more baby goats to Moloch in return for all the campaign donations IMO

I really don't think Silver could stop Adelson and the obese failson if they decide Texas isn't worth it when they can't get their casino. Also Trump's repayment will be genociding Gaza to the point Adelson can build a casino there.

This continues to be the wildest and the most dubious element of the trade. You have an empty cupboard of assets and you only get one 1 FRP-- and it's from the team you're sending an in-his-peak superstar to? Really? This where you are allowed to go beyond the 'sheer stupidity' explanation and actually entertain the theory of plan hatched-up in some smoky room the goal of which is to deliberately torch the franchise to the ground in Dallas and moved it to Vegas by 2031 (clean slate)..

Plus since the 27 is a pick and not a swap they owe Charlotte it means they can't use their 26 in any trade lol

Despite this being possibly the biggest meltdown in any sports franchise history, somehow Nico could actually somewhat salvage things if they immediately flip AD to a desperate team for like 4 first round picks. Then the net change ends up being Luka for five 1st round picks and Max Christie. Goes from being the all time worse sports trade to 'only' a very bad trade :lol

It would still be in epic fail territory since the Mavs don't control any of their drafts from 2027 through 2030.

Biggest front office gaff: 1996 Magic or the 2025 Mavs?
Context: Magic didn't want to pay Shaq. Mavs didn't want to pay Luka.
Both legendary players ended up in LA. :toast
Sp*rs didn't want to pay Nephew. We know how that turned out. I dare you farmers to balk at paying Wemby! :downspin:

To give you perspective, I've casually watched less and less of the Cowboys over the years with Jerruh as owner and it was only around 2020 that I just stopped watching the games altogether. So even someone as bad as Jerruh, got almost two decades of fandom out of me before checking out. Even then, I'm not bandwagoning to another team, just not watching until he's no longer the owner.
The Luka trade is so bad, that I immediately became a Laker fan (can't change the NBA skin on ST anymore) :lol like, there's no justification for remaining a Mavericks fan when your Magic Negro GM is willing to destroy the franchise in the middle of the night when you have a generational talent. Imagine the Thunder or Cavs gutting their roster right now for journeymen players, that's basically the only thing I can think of that is worse rofl

1 player downfall. No I can't either.
Dodgers traded Piazza. Comes to mind MVP level player still in prime and outta nowhere. Dodgers declined and Mets (acquired from Marlins) reached the World Series a few seasons later.

The Mavs had been taken care of upon Cuban's reign by the NBA in New York. (He) was permitted to fly coast-to-coast warning the NBA owners that no longer would they be permitted to be the Lakers farm teams. Stern stood down, kept silence and was not named in Cuban's indictment. That was the deal. "Yes, you're owner, yes you can indict the owners, out of court, but I must remain untouched. Deal?"
"Deal."
We lost our advantage in the blink of an eye and couldn't even fight back because what we'd been doing was unconscionable.
Obviously the debt has been paid, Cuban has had enough vengeance and now wants to turn lose the ligature and we got a ringer, well, a possible ringer, in Luca.
He ain't Daddy.
&
He ain't Kobe.
And it'll never be like it was pre-Cuban. But I have the memories and those cannot be taken from me.
Does nobody else think the league played a role? Even if the owner is a cheap ass why make a secret pact with the Lakers of all teams? The Mavs could've started the biggest bidding war of all time if they would've informed other teams he was available.
-league struggling
-gift wrap Luka to the league's biggest brand
-repay Dallas with Cooper Flagg
How is the NBA being rigged not blatantly obvious? Although tbf Wemby was probably rigged for us too. Not a big market but the Spurs are a pretty big brand for the league as well--especially internationally.

Are you suggesting the NBA only rigged the lottery for San Antonio when the obvious, generational talent #1 prospect had a terribly boring personality and was virtually unmarketable? I’m not sure. But that’s what it sounds like you’re saying.
A future hall of famer that fans don’t give a shit about? Oh, well here you go, San Antone!
