Yep, I'd get pretty sick from this stuff every year when I lived in SA, when I moved away I was shocked that I was no longer getting sick every winter.

Of all things it's these fucking juniper trees that I fear could be the thing to drive Wemby out of San Antonio.

Worst part is you fucking never get a tolerance to it no matter how long you live in the area.

How did the big 3 deal with this? Seems like it's just Wemby from last year and this year.

It’s actually worse in Houston because I think the humidity compounds it. Weirdly, being in Austin helps a lot.

Yup, and the flu is going around the city like herpes.

Yeah I have heard a lot about this being a particularly ugly flu season. I went to a big family Christmas GTG where a bunch of family got pretty nasty cases of both COVID and flu. No life threatening cases thankfully but still very nasty. Got vaccinated against both back in the fall and caught neither though.

The issue with Jeremy is that he keeps getting the short end of the stick with worst possible roles.
He's not a backup big and as a 6'9 wing he shouldn't be chasing the likes of Trae around.

Really hard to optimally develop that way.
Devin? Solid enough, but consistency is the issue with him. We'll see how the rest of the season goes.

Been wondering what’s wrong with Sochan, this is a good point. Also on O when you’re battling 5’s all night, it’s hard to do what Sochan does best, which is cutting, taking advantage of opposing 4’s size (not 5’s), and swooping in for OREBs.

Was Fox saying he was a bit out of shape, or was he referring to Victor?

I think he was referring to himself, mentioned that he didn't get to do any conditioning the day of the trade, so he had to use the treadmill recently to keep up

Strange, I never noticed it when I lived in Houston. Humidity definitely does make it way worse though. Thank fucking god this pollen doesn't come in June when we're pushing dew points in the 80s and heat indices around 120.

Thats good for you. Caught the flu a few weeks back and still coughing up a lung everyday. Worst consistent cough I've had in awhile while living here my whole life. I think about it every time i see wembys nose blown up, the guy has been struggling with allergies and sickness while here.

This is what I've been saying. They are really doing Sochan a huge disservice by playing him as a back-up 5. He already has enough issues on his own (3pt shooting and being a dumbo at times). He's a solid young player who should be getting ALL the help he needs from his FO and they are doing the opposite with these experiments at PG and Center.

He appears to share the same cedar pollen allergy that makes so much of San Antonio miserable from around Christmas to early February most years. If you're not from the area it's a really nasty pollen from the juniper ashe trees that are all over the Hill Country northwest of town. The shit releases pollen in the winter and the symptoms of it for me at least are identical with when I have had COVID, eg a throat that feels like you're gargling razor blades and massive nasal congestion.

Sochan is a good defender and a decent rebounder not much else. Much like Dev I don’t see what makes him so untouchable in a trade. Offense VS defense role player through and through just like Dev and KJ.

It has been a very mild year by San Antonio standards, but it was still near 10,000 or so a few days ago. Usually the season peaks around 20,000 to 30,000 out here though, usually in mid January.

Sochan, Keldon, and Vassell are low IQ guys and should be expendable.

Our offense looks in shambles whenever anyone of them get the ball. It's been this way since last year.

They are the tank commanders. They were the major players during the tank years to just play poorly and the front office didn't care, nothing was done about it. Bad habits still persist with the tank commanders.

Fox 13 assists, 1 TO, epic shit

Vassell quietly had a good game as well, at least overall. 20 points, 4 steals, 4 assists on 1 TO. 9/18 shooting, +5. If only he had nailed a couple more open 3's I'd say he's finally in the role he was meant. 1 game in, he's right on track to be that #3, at least on a playin team

Why is Vassell always leaning sideways whenever taking a wide open 3? I feel he could be a 40% 3pt shooter if he would just jump straight up.

Vassell isn't too bad. He can't be relived upon as a number 2 scorer on the team but he's ok as a number 3/4 offensive player on certain nights when his shots are falling.

If Spurs can get lucky one last time to land another top 4 pick they can get their number 3 scorer and with Castle and Vassell the spurs would have enough offensive fire power, as good as any team in the league.

The more I watch him, the more I believe he truly does believe he has Kobe's fallaways and shit in his arsenal, even when he's wide open he wants to use those types of shots. I'm thinking it's a mental thing from being forced into a #2 scorer spot he's clearly not capable of achieving -- hopefully he just starts letting loose now that we've got Fox.

Good game, other than a terrible third quarter. Wemby’s obviously still recovering from his illness, but he was still active and effective on the offensive end.

We can’t have any more Sochan, Castle, Keldon lineups. One of Paul, Fox, or Wemby needs to be on the court at all times.

They actually consume a huge amount of water too. I’ve heard of people cutting them down on their property, and springs start popping up and overflowing afterward.

They really have no redeeming value. If the environmentalists get offended, they’re welcome to plant an oak or something for each one that’s cut down.

Last season he had time management, fake injuries/gamed missed, had a lot less responsabilities and was A LOT less the target of every teams.

There's a fear factor that make them be physical and tire him up to mitigate his impact.

That's (also) why it's so urgent to give him some help

Great win with Fox 1st game. Agree easily a blowout without Fox. He’s been a thorn on Spurs side, so seeing him do what he does for the Spurs is a real treat. I’m hoping the talent just rubs off to other players. This could be one of the better defensive transition teams if we’re not for CP3 slowing the tempo. That should’ve been Castle as the other guard. Champ could also benefit as a starter feeding off from the opening that Fox is creating, if only Mitch has the cojones to shake the lineup. Vassell would be the perfect 6th man with his offense. For now I’m hoping they get a backup big with all the trades going on.

RC_Drunkford
02-06-2025, 04:50 AM
there's honestly no reason to have Castle run point by himself out there with Fox and CP3 on the team. Mitch should stagger them even when he starts both. Terrible job on the rotations tbh. Shoutout to Quinn Snyder for blowing his last time out on a challenge that clearly had no chance to turn the call over.

How does he kill the flow of the offense when he very rarely has the ball in his hands for more than half a second?

Lately he’s been pausing / indecisive. With almost no ability to shoot, he rightfully tries to find other shooters. Earlier in the season he was driving to the rim ala Stephon’s strategy, making short hook/floaters once he got closer, but I haven’t seen that lately. I’m as big of a Sochan believer as anyone, but lately he looks scared and hesitant.

Long story short:

- Yes they’re native. When German settlers came to TX they observed extremely tall, straight cedars, with full biodiversity (including large mammals) beneath them. They chopped 98% of them down as their logging livelihood. The cedars we have now are “young cedars”, which grow short and wide in order to maximize their chance of survival. If we stopped cutting them and stopped fucking with the soil, they would eventually grow back to mature tall trees allowing for more eco diversity. However the young cedars today are still valuable to other plants and animals in their ecosystem, another myth.

- No, chopping them down around SA, and especially just from your property, won’t do shit for your allergies. There are too many, and their pollen travels far through the air.

- No, they don’t use more water than any other tree. No, they don’t spread wildfires.

- Lobbyists have run a false campaign for decades to Gov and public to spread public disapproval in order to clear massive mature ecosystems for cattle and real estate.

Interesting. Thanks for posting your thoughts. I assume you had a great time at the game, especially with the Spurs winning.

Do you think Keldon knows he was that close to being traded and doesn't know what to do now that it didn't go through, or do you think he thinks he's still on the trading block? And if he doesn't get traded, I wonder if he's dejected about having to forget about it and somehow keep playing like nothing happened.
