One of the biggest games this year outside of maybe the Christmas game... against the defending champions on ESPN. Our team is mostly healthy and we have another dynamic playmaker in Fox now so it should be a fairer fight. I am curious to see how competitive we can keep this game on the road.

Keldon needs to be glued to the bench.
The corpse of Bismack Biyombo will need a double double in his debut here

If we lose close I'll be happy, but I can see a painful blow out coming here if all the stars don't align.

PHX is @ HOU toda and GS plays DAL... so could actually be a pretty huge W for the Play-In race if we could somehow pull it off. The good news is that so long as HOU takes care of a business a loss doesn't really hurt us too much and the status quo will be maintained. Those CHA and ORL losses loom large right now. We're going to have to go on a legit run here (like a 9 out of 10 type run like ATL and POR recently put together) if we are going to make a go of this. I'm a bit skeptical that we can do it.

CP3 shooting tailed off a lot since the start of the year and defensively he’s a net liability against most teams too. You can’t regularly have a starting PG score 6 points on 30-40% shooting and expect to win. Fox obviously needs to supplant CP3 and Fox and Castle form our new Big 3. This is not CP3 hate at all, just rather being objective at this stage. I don’t regret for a second that we brought in CP3, we may not even be the dumbest team in the league anymore largely thanks to him.

Either Vic will shut that down, or he won't... but do not give these guys open fucking 3s. Literally this should be the defensive strategy. Sochan on Tatum, Castle on White or Pritchard. Would rather give up a drive than an open 3 against this team. Just try and survive the Wemby minutes as much as possible. Would actually be helpful to have CP3 lead those non-Wemby units because he slows the game down so much.

I started watching late then once the Spurs score was stuck on 15 began fast forwarding to only Spurs made baskets. Wemby’s dumb and lazy play kind of defeats the purpose of watching.

This performance was predictable.

Culturally, the Spurs lack consistent effort, hustle, attention to detail, a commitment to defense, and above all, accountability for these deficiencies. This has been the case for years. As Popovich aged, he mellowed out of being a hardass stickler for “playing the right way” and got wrapped up in how much he enjoyed his relationships with the players. Now that he is old and sick, with no way to know when or whether he is coming back, the Spurs effectively are headless. Mitch Johnson is a figurehead. The Holt kids lack the fortitude to make any decisions.

Despite all this, the team has the foundation in place for a contender if they don’t fritter it away. Wemby, Fox, and Castle are a core of stars to build around. From here, they have to establish leadership, establish an identity, get rid of the players who are bad for the culture, namely Vassell and Johnson, and build around their core of stars with defensive-minded role players.

That may not happen though. The Holts may be too afraid of their shadows and too cowed by the memory of what Pop used to be to make any decisions and so the team may just remain stuck in neutral and underachieving until Wemby gets tired of it and leaves.

Some aspects of the Celtics offense are fun to watch. But some aspects are definitely not. They are going to obliterate the record for three point attempts this season. The beautiful game didn't run plays strictly to get three point shots like the Celtics do. And tbf they're playing a Spurs team that is not only god awful at defense in general but especially bad at giving up wide open threes. When Boston plays a good defense and their shots aren't coming as easily and falling with the same frequency it gets pretty ugly to watch. I'm sorry but running plays to spam three point shots just isn't fun to watch to me
