Not saying the FO doesn't deserve these accolades, but it is worth nothing that the author of this piece, Sam Quinn, has been a huge glazer of this FO for a number of years now.

As for me... I'm generally pleased with the moves the FO has made (and am fully of any Fire Brian Wright campaign for now), but I don't think any FO deserves to be near the top of a ranking like this while having the second longest active playoff drought in the league. Let's see the team do some winning before handing out the awards.

He also has Utah at #5... another team that wins a lot of trades but doesn't win a lot of games. I don't think they're deserving of that ranking either. At the end of the days, wins and losses is what determines success, not the most amount of "A" draft day and trade grades.

Utah ahead of Memphis is such a bad take tbh

They don't deserve these accolades. We're about 15 years removed from a competent FO.

#3 is way toooooo high given how much work those ping pong bills did.

Castle was a good pick. Trading away the #8 seems to have been the right move. The Fox deal has the potential to be a home run.

But none of those are possible without lucking into Wemby.

If this was a luckiest FO ranking then yeah #3 makes sense. But in terms of competency, I'd say they're recently middle of the road so far with strong potential of moving up.

Its fair to call them one of the best front offices. We have a mostly good reputation with players and the way Spurs are run is kinda unlike most sports teams, feels more like a family than an organization in some ways. Like you know they aren't going to do you dirty.

They dont make big splashes generally but they don't make horrible decisions either (cough Mavs cough). We might have had a few head scratching drafts which is maybe the biggest knock on recent spurs but they swung and missed on a few and thats normal.

I say drafting Primo alone drops their ranking. They did a lot of bad post Kawhi and pre Wemby.

:lol #3 is a joke. Brian wrong has picked nothing but low iq players who are extremely flawed, and Wemby and castle were obvious picks.

Keldumb Johnson

All fucking horrible picks and they don’t seem to be developing. Doesn’t help that our coaching staff has mailed it in as well.

We were in the WCFs 8 years ago. Try again.

Just look at the ranks of the teams the Spurs have dealt with recently.

Toronto: #15
Minnesota: #18
Atlanta: #26
Dallas: #27
Sacramento: #29
Chicago: #30

Pick on the suckers. Might even get a chance to fleece the #28 Suns this summer.

Since and including the Dejounte Murray trade, the FO has done an outstanding job of bringing in talent and accumulating draft picks as a whole - and I don't have a problem with them this high on the list based on that.

But if coaching sits under the FO for this ranking, then the Spurs should be way lower.

The old man clearly lost his touch over the years and Mitch Johnson has proven that he does not have an ounce of technical nous and gets outcoached every game. It's the worst, or at best near the worst, coaching and development group in the league now.

Things have looked better in the last two years, but this is still the FO that thought a two pronged mid range attack of Aldridge and DeRozan had potential, and I just feel like lots of time was wasted riding with those two. Forbes getting more minutes than D White two seasons in a row was maddening too, but that's probably more on Pop.

Having Sochan as a PG while Victor is on the court should not only remove a FO from any award contention, it should remove the head coach from head coaching.
