Well gents, the grain has been separated from the chaff. Lots of great matchups and storylines. All four one seeds and three of the four two seeds are represented.
Cooper Flagg and a talent draped Blue Devils team versus a Bama team that has the ability to flat shoot the the fucking lights out. Mark Sears and Bama torched BYU in the sweet 16 sinking a tournament record 25 threes. If they light it up again, they could all that Duke talent to the NBA early.
Houston and Tennessee should be a low scoring slugfest as both teams are near the bottom at pace and two of the best defensive teams in the country. The great equalizer here is shooting. Houston is the best three point shooting team in the country at 40%.
Florida on paper should overpower Texas Tech, but TT is scrappy and are coming off of a big comeback win over Arkansas. There's also the question of how bad Condons ankle injury is. If he's limited this game could be a lot closer.
And last but certainly not least is number one overall seed Auburn against Tom Izzo and Sparty. Izzo is the last of his kind...a gritty, old school coach who wins with not only talent but sheer will and toughness. He'll need every ounce of it to take down Johni Broome and Auburn.
Tournament fun fact: Since the tournament expanded to 64 teams in 1985, all four number one seeds have only made the Final Four once. That was 2008...Kansas, UCLA, Memphis and North Carolina.

There's a good chance we see it happening more often. In the new era of NIL and transfers you will see a lot more of the power conference teams plucking the talent away from lower level teams. It will mean less Cinderellas in the tournament. We are already seeing the effects with the number of SEC teams that made the tournament.

I don’t think the Raptors will draft Kon. I think they will go with a C or PG which leaves Maluach, Queen, Jaku. I think they take Maluach and develop him behind Poeltl.
The Nets need everything so they will go best player available which is probably Kon, but could see them taking anyone of Kon, Tre, Queen, Jaku.
The Sixers I can see taking Kon also, but could also see them taking Tre, Queen or Maluach given Embiids health issues.
If the Spurs stay at 8 I think there’s only about a 50% chance Kon is still there.

Bet OKC would love him if that Philly pick falls and seems like Jakucionis likely draft position is hard to pin down, giving another strike against Kon being there at #8. Maybe if Knueppel is gone it means Tre Johnson is still on the board though. And if not Maluach is probably still there and maybe the Spurs can trade down and pick up an extra first for their troubles.

I feel like this is an overreaction. Just last year NC State made it to the Final Four as an 11 seed.
Two years ago a 4, two 5s, and a 9 were in the Final Four.
Those were both in the NIL era. This year just kind of sucked for college basketball in general and so the top teams went through.

Is the FF played in the old Spurs Alamodome configuration with the curtain, or is the full stadium like they did for that Warriors game?
Do they host other FF's in basketball-specific arenas?

Well, they’d be role players in a major school for a reason. The mid tiers may catch a late boomer once in a while but it just means the odds are stacked against them. Not to mention your need multiple hits at the same time to be able to make it to the final four.

Don’t fall in love with 22/23 YO college players. 90% of the time,it ends badly after a few seasons.
yeah I mean realistically he is mocked at like 45 overall and I almost even typed "at the college level" after what a player. Maybe this pulls him up in the 30s but I'm not expecting much at the next level. Still what a shooter. His shots swirl into the basket like a 2k animation

I think he's got Jalen Brunson potential. His play this year would indicate he's a top 10 guy if you didn't know his age. We do know his age and that knocks him down quite a bit. But I don't think it should drop him to #45 in this draft. I see his value somewhere in the 20's much like I see the value of Tyrese Proctor (although their games are different).

Kneuppel looks closer to 6'4 than 6'7 to me. Could be the doughiness playing tricks on my eyes.
Thought the same tbh.

Yup... to me he looks like he's an inch taller than Proctor and 2 inches shorter than Flagg.

That is the part of Kon's game I don't like and noticed it in the first highlight video I watched of him; he relies on that pump fake on his drives, didn't see one dunk on any of those drives; got blocked just now.

Most of his drives he can’t separate he just tries to pump and muscle through guys on the ground.

Eh. The calls were pretty even good/bad. Houston lost a possession when Kon kicked the ball. From the ref's vantage the over the back looked worse than it was.

Too bad for Duke.
Flagg played me-ball too much in this game, more than he usually does. He really wanted the spotlight.
Kon was open several times for a 3. Think if they passed to him more on those open looks, this would have been an easy W. Kon played lockdown D all game, made timely touch rebounds, great passes… what a hooper.

Definitely. ESPN darlings.
Coach K switched to getting 4-5 five star recruits every year and turned into a Coach Calipari turnstyle of freshmen every year. Just one mega class after another. K never won a championship after that and Scheyer is a worse coach by a good amount. This year they came close because the college year was pretty bad, but it's a risky model.

I agree if FLA wins a National Championship on another big performance from him plus he does well in combine and workouts I could see a team going that high and pulling Clayton Jr like 25-35 ish perhaps 22-25 even. He also seems to have good demeanor and that poise is valuable to GMs. I have doubts as to just how he will translate to the next level but he is having a hell of a tournament. He's kinda short and seems more like a score first sg so at 6'3 and his age I think GMs will downgrade a bit for that but if there is a good fit in a limited role as a scorer at first and then see if he can establish himself from there some team might go for it. Players like Clayton sometimes do the Duarte tumble though and Jacquez is another example so teams might be wary of that. Also agree Proctor should receive good interest.

I hate the running clock in college.
I know they use it sometimes in the NBA but it's so dumb that a team can burn 5-10 seconds off the game clock in clutch time just by making it hard to inbound quickly.
