Zach Lowe joins The Ringer

Good stuff. Lowe is probably the best NBA reporter of past 10-12 years. Access journalism (mainly with Toronto and Warriors) and ESPN dumbing-it-down approach may have taken some of the sheen off his work, but in my opinion he is still at the top of his profession: An incisive basketball mind combined with great story-telling skills.(I actually prefer his writing over the podcasting)

This is awesome. Lowe will be allowed to be himself there and will get the freedom to be the best NBA journalist that he is.

Simmons can be weird sometimes but have to say I’m looking forward to regular podcasts with him and Lowe.

if Lowe can forget the over the top theatrical delivery style i guess he was trained to do with ESPN and go back to what he was say, in his yahoo days, this could be great

simmons is definitely different/eccentric but he has a pretty unique viewpoint on things and puts out a good consumable product with his podcasts and whatnot

and the ringer does a very good job with their site design. hope this works out well

Nice! I’ve missed Lowe. I do wonder what it means for their other offerings though. Lots of mouths to feed (they have at least 2 other basketball podcast in addition to Simmons’). They’ve also started featuring Goldsberry
more too.

I prefer his amazing writing too. Very sharp, analytical, folksy and deep.

Glad to hear it, I used to listen to his podcast regularly and can't wait for the new one. Good coverage that is mostly unbiased and also doesn't just focus on the big markets like BSPN.

Gossip was never his strong suit, and that’s all ESPN wanted. He’s a basketball analyst, and a damn good one. 75% of that “intel” shit is probably made up anyway.
