Another late one in GS tonight as we take on a Warriors team that is hot right now. They've won 6 of their last 7, including a blowout victory in PHX last night, and the Nuggets, Lakers, and Grizzlies before that.. Both teams playing on the second leg of a b2b. Let's get this L tbh.

I don’t know how people can watch this game and watch Butler on offense on one end and then Castle on the other end and think they play anything alike. Castle’s handle is so creative and elite— Butler’s handle pales in comparison.

You could think that Barnes killed the tank by his amazing buzzer beater. But the 7th pick slot was hanging by a very loose thread (Toronto beating Dallas and then beating the Spurs) etc. It wasnt really going to happen. Winning against the Warriors will give the Spurs young core (Castle) a great boost in their confidence. Now rest Castle, Barnes, Keldon for the Phoenix game. And secure the 8th spot. And the Spurs' job is done.

Was just about to post this. I watched the last quarter and man the poise he played with was exceptional. Did not get rattled, consistently found open shots for his team mates. Got to the basket, was a menace on defense getting deflections and guarding both Steph and Jimmy at times.

LeBowen
04-10-2025, 03:40 AM
This final month of the season might just keep Mitch on the bench and I don't like it.

No point in talking about defense with current roster, but the offense has been looking better, more importantly it's fluid most of the time.
Some of it is on teams not taking tanking Spurs seriously, but we can't be haters just for the sake of it.

Since the start of March, Spurs are at 117.8ppg over 23 games, which would be good for 6th best in the league.
96, 105, 106 in lowest scoring games during this stretch, at least 109 scored in every other game. And that's with blatantly tank in some matchups.
14/23 of those games were against playoff teams, 2 games against the Mavs, 1 against the Kings and just 6 against tanking teams.

04-10-2025, 08:43 AM
In the NBA draft lottery, if teams tie for the same record, their draft lottery combinations are merged, then split evenly, and if necessary,
a coin flip determines the order of the extra combination(s) and the order of the draft picks if neither team wins in the top four.

Should the average number not be an integer, a coin flip is then used to determine which team or teams receive the extra combination.
The result of the coin flip is also used to determine who receives the earlier pick in the event that neither of the tied teams wins one of the first four picks via the lottery.

Spurs will get fewer combinations for a top 4 pick with a tie with Portland so not good for getting a top 4 pick with a tie. Also will draft behind Portland if they lose the coin flip.

Spurs need a way to lose one of the remaining games if they want to have more number combinations for a top 4 pick and to be sure to draft above Portland unless Portland lands in the top 4.

Ice009
04-10-2025, 09:05 AM
Darn, real happy with the win against the Warriors to mess up the seeding a bit, and also this is what I wanted (the Spurs playing hard to finish the season), but I don't want to go down in the draft order. Does one more loss lock in the 8 seed? Does Phoenix still have a chance at the playoffs? Is Durant back?
Edit : Darn it, just looked. Phoenix have nothing to play for.

The best bet was losing one of these last two road games as I think the players are going to want to win their last home game in front of the fans. Also, I doubt the Spurs would want to sit players in front of the home crowd for the last home game. I loved the win, but man, it might have screwed things up a little bit.

What a bitter win, this one is gonna sting for a while Yeah I understand your thought, but these guys played hard and won despite optimum tanking positioning. My question is with the Suns, who have lost every game they've played for a while. We know KD is out and doesn't care, but will Booker be willing to purposely screw the people who've spent thousand to see them? If so, we are in trouble because our last home game we will play to win...most likely.

Booker's not enough to win them games, just like he wasn't pre CP3. What a trainwreck that team is. Best part is they put off their rebuild another year by converting their unprotected 2031 into three worst of three picks almost certain to be mid 20s or worse. WTF kind of dipshit makes a trade like that?

Devin, Jeremy, and Keldon all sat the last few home games last year. If it comes down to the last game, they will start Malaki, Jordan McLaughlin, Biyambo, Bassey, and Keldon, and the bench will be our two ways.

If Pop gets the wins, doesn't he get the fine if Mitch does it?

I wasn't sure about "blatant tanking" comment I made as I was going to ask you guys and additional question, and yes, I think you're right that Pop would get fined (so maybe Mitch in that case since he's coaching for him).
I was going to say/ask/add to that comment, hasn't the NBA said they're cracking down on teams resting players for no reasons a year or two ago, so I assume if you list an injury there is nothing they can do about it, but I don't think they could start CP3 and HB and then just sit them to keep their streaks active. Maybe the NBA wouldn't have done nothing if they did that last game since it wasn't a nationally televised game, but I think they might have if it was.

That crackdown only really applies to players who have been an All Star in the last 3 years. Even if you list them with an injury, unless the player is out for the season, the NBA can, and has investigated cases like that, and levied fines.
