When's the last time Oberto has gone in besides garbage minutes?
ALVAREZ6

Is Pop expecting Oberto to want to play for the Spurs again next season?
I thought the whole point of having a lot of big men was if one is sucking it up (*cough* Nazr *cough*), then you play the other guys. At least play Rasho, he had a nice put back slam.
Parker 09
12-07-2005, 10:19 PM
Looks like manu and td are going off nice to see. parker 3-5 7 points and 4 assists, looks like his nice run is still on. miami look terrible in this game.

Probably since the second game of the season vs. Cleveland, that was the last time he got significant minutes outside the garbage time. I expect this to continue this way until February at least.

I feel in love with his play in the postseason last year. Now, he is just pissing me off. How long will it take for him to get back to that level? All-Star break? Playoffs?
If he wants his money, he needs to step it up and play like he did last year, or he aint gettin' dat cheeze!

Why would pop change it up in February?
Maybe a trade. But even if that doesn't happen, I expect him to be more adapted to the ofensive and defensive systems, and that would help him getting more minutes, appart from garbage time or a big in foul trouble.

I don't think Nazr will every perform consistently like he did last year in the play-offs because last year he came in around february or so from the Knicks, I guess he wanted to show that we got the better of the trade, and really domnated in the play-offs.
Now he blows.
Play Rasho and Oberto at C.

but in fairness to Kobe, his team won tonight because he distributed the ball well and made his team participate in the game, Odom especially.Kobe had 9 assts. if he continues to do this his team will get back in the playoff standing before this season is over...
which reminds me of point guards such as Marbury. currently playing vs. Clippers has ONLY 1 asst. and who has more assts than he has? our ex-Spur Malik Rose with 3. The Knicks will go nowhere if Stephon will do his " thing" over team play and Coach Brown's woes will go on and on... :angel

That's not saying much...
Actually, I've noticed Wade seems more than a bit frustrated with his teammates lately. I guess it's not that surprising, but he also seems to be distancing himself more than usual. I even caught some audio before commercial of Van Gundy telling him to "come back and join the huddle".
He's a great player, but I think what has made him so likeable is his carefree approach to the game. I wonder if the pressure this year of playing on a (near)Championship favorite has made him more moody than he has been in the past.

Just a couple of observations from tonight.
TP played tough. He was relentless taking the ball to the rack despite taking some hard fouls.
I am not sure if it started this year but Coach Budenholzer is much more vocal from the bench than I can remember. I heard "space" from both he and Pop on several occasions. I think he was also warning TP of re-picks.

SPUR-SISTENCE COUNTS
SAN ANTONIO (AP) -- With Shaquille O'Neal dressed in a white suit and sitting on the bench, the Miami Heat had nobody to stop Tim Duncan inside.
Duncan had 28 points and 16 rebounds, Manu Ginobili added 27 points, and the Spurs dominated in the paint in a 98-84 victory over the Heat on Wednesday night.
"We have to attack down low, especially with Shaq out," Duncan said. "That's got to be a big play for us."
The Spurs scored 54 points in the paint, compared to 22 for the Heat. Ginobili's ability to drive the lane helped him get back on track after he was 1-for-4 from the field against Orlando on Monday.
"It helps to get some confidence and get shots going to the basket," he said. "I tried to attack the rim more often tonight than I had been."
The Spurs have won five straight and are 15-3.
Dwyane Wade scored 31 points but got little help from the rest of the Heat, who shot 36 percent from the field. O'Neal, who sprained his ankle Nov. 3 in the Heat's home opener against Indiana, remained on the team's inactive list.
The finished 2-3 on their five-game road trip. Despite the strong play of Duncan and Ginobili, Heat coach Stan Van Gundy said the key to the game was Tony Parker. Parker had a season-high 11 assists and scored 14 points as the Spurs shot 47 percent.
"Tony Parker, if you've been watching this year, has just been picking people apart on the pick-and-rolls," Van Gundy said. "We made it a major emphasis and made a decent effort. ... It was tough to contain him tonight."
:D
San Antonio led by three points after the first quarter, but Gary Payton hit two quick jumpers to begin the second and Antoine Walker's layup gave the Heat their first lead of game with 9:19 to go. The Heat tied the score twice before the Spurs went on a 20-5 run, including nine points by Ginobili in the final 2:11 of the half.
The Spurs went to the locker room with a 47-30 lead.
James Posey began the third with two 3-pointers for the Heat. But Michael Doleac's ejection with 5:25 in the quarter for a flagrant foul on Parker halted Miami's momentum. Parker hit both free throws to give San Antonio a 20-point lead, its largest of the game.
"I don't even think we had time to realize we were down by 20," Wade said. "But you just continue to fight back, especially against a team as good as the Spurs."
The Heat cut it to 12 at the end of the quarter, and Wade hit two free throws to cut the lead to eight with 3:29 left. But the Heat wouldn't get any closer than seven.
Ginobili hit key free throws down the stretch and drove the lane to match scores by the Heat, whose league-leading shot blocker, Alonzo Mourning, had no blocks.
"There were a lot of good contributions by a lot of people," Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said. "It worked out well for us. We had pretty good overall defense and good offense, but a little sloppy. The good defense carried us through."
Game notes
O'Neal took part in halfcourt drills during Wednesday morning's pregame shootaround at the SBC Center. He said afterward that his right ankle was improving, though he wouldn't predict when he expects to be able to play again. ... Bowen, second in the league in 3-point percentage, was held to 2-of-7 from behind the arc. ... The Spurs placed Sean Marks on the inactive list, and Earl Barron, Dorell Wright and O'Neal were inactive for the Heat.

It's a good thing all five starters played well tonight, because the bench didn't do much of anything. :(
You would have called me crazy if I told you there would be a half of a game where Rasho would have a one-handed put back dunk and Nazr would miss three lay-ups that he didn't even try to dunk. He is turning into Malik- too worried about trying to do what other people ahead of him in the rotation can do and not focusing on what he can do best. He is averaging less than 1 offensive rebound per game in over 12 minutes a night.

Champs pick apart Heat
SAN ANTONIO — Combine fatigue, injuries and poor play and you get what the Heat got in San Antonio — a decisive beating.
The Spurs dominated from start to finish in Wednesday's 98-84 victory against the Heat at SBC Arena, giving Miami its first three-game losing streak of the season.
"Obviously we've got a long way to go to get to this level," coach Stan Van Gundy said in comparing his Heat to the Spurs.
Miami (10-9), playing its fourth game in eight days and its 17th consecutive game without injured center Shaquille O'Neal, couldn't do anything right and now it finds itself flirting with.500.
"A lot of people want us to be great right away," O'Neal said Thursday afternoon. "I think it's very hard to maintain greatness. I think it's easy to get to, especially at the right time. As long as we gel at the right part of the season, we'll be fine."
Miami, which has lost five of its last eight games, ended its road trip 2-3 after beginning with victories at Atlanta and Sacramento. Then came losses to Denver, the Clippers and San Antonio.
Miami is now 3-7 on the road, and it hasn't won in San Antonio since 1996, falling to 1-18 all-time in the Alamo City.
The Heat, which allowed San Antonio 54 points in the paint, got abused trying to defend the pick-and-roll, committed 17 turnovers that San Antonio turned into 23 points, and looked tentative and confused offensively.
"We went out there and we tried," guard Dwyane Wade said. "They were just better than us. Hopefully we do better next time."
San Antonio (15-3), the defending NBA champion, looked every bit the role while picking Miami apart at both ends of the court. Forward Tim Duncan (28 points, 16 rebounds) was dominant, as usual, and guards Manu Ginobili (27 points) and Tony Parker (14 points, 11 assists) couldn't be contained, either.
"It's a different world in here," Van Gundy said.
Wade and fellow guard Jason Williams weren't good enough to carry the day for the Heat. Wade had 31 points, 10 rebounds and six assists while Williams finished with nine points and two assists. Williams, bothered by tendinitis in his right knee, limping noticeably in the second quarter and didn't play in the fourth quarter.
Center Alonzo Mourning (seven points, seven rebounds), the league leader in blocked shots at 4.1 per game, had his streak of at least one block come to an end at 31 games, and forward Antoine Walker (10 points) extended his shooting slump to eight games by going 3-for-15 and falling to 26-for-92 (28.3 percent) during that span.
San Antonio's 47-30 halftime lead might not have been indicative of the type of dominance it exhibited. The Spurs ended the half on a 28-10 run after the Heat took its last lead at 20-19 and made their final 10 shots of the half.
Miami's 30 points were a season low for a half, as were its 10 field goals made. The Heat's 12 first-half turnovers were a season high for a half.
"Right now, we're having a lot of tough times, a lot of heartaches, guys are feeling that pain," O'Neal said. "Once they get tired of feeling that pain, then we'll become a better team."

Look at the bright side. All of Nazr's missed shots are padding for his superior rebound average to trash Rasho with.
