I just think it's too risky. Forget about the No. 2 pick, but if the Spurs hypothetically had the 3rd pick, I'm not sure I'd take him there either. Would likely go with VJ Edgecomb instead. I'm not certain about if he can reach his ceiling.
I would much rather the higher floor and high ceiling guy like Harper. I want someone that can step in and be a franchise player with that second pick (another reason why I wanted Flagg, but the 2nd pick isn't that far off). D-Harp, I think also has a chip on his shoulder/dog in him, and I think he'll go for rookie of the year if the Spurs give him the court time. It's not 100% that Flagg will be the best player of the draft. They could even both be great.

Its not a terrible fit to have Harper, Castle and fox. Could be dangerous if they can keep the egos in check to have multiple slashers who can handle the ball. I do worry about this making Castle a little uneasy as he has claimed he wants the point guard position and he keeps getting pushed further and further from that.

Not advocating for not selecting/trading Harper, but that and the other usual suspect examples (Robinson/Duncan, Olajuwon/Sampson, Jordan/Drexler) aren't the same as this.

The issue here isn't whether Fox, Castle and Harper can play together in terms of size/position, but role, as none are off ball players/credible shooters in an era where that matters more than ever. They're also not an all time player/prospect in the bunch to render it moot.

On top of that his attitude is trash acting like he is already Kevin Durant when he's really more like Keldon Johnson minus the great teammate part. I was so excited about Bailey a year ago but he has completely tanked his stock and not improved his game in a year at Rutgers. I'd probably take Bailey at 14 but no way top 8. He has done nothing to live up to those comparisons to TMac or KD from high school. Those guys both had elite handles at age 19 and were good defensive talents too.

That makes no sense. Dylan Harper legitimately plays like Manu, hence all the Harden comparisons. Bailey is like a poor man's Brandon Ingram, completely one dimensional jump shooter. Harper is an elite passer while Bailey has an absolute trash assist to turnover ratio. Harper might also end up the better shooter based on the FT signal. Harper scored at the rim at the levels of a bigman this season thanks to his ballhandling and footwork that have him play like Luka or Harden in the paint (while Fox is more a blow by you kind of guy like Tony was). He adds so much to this team and could be an absolutely devastating pick and roll partner with Victor. Bailey gives you none of that; the guy's ceiling is probably a taller Allan Houston minus the elite three point shooting, as Bailey's three point shooting is far from elite (only 1.3% higher than Harper's). Even if Bailey was giving off the vibes of a good teammate and hard worker he'd still be way behind Harper on both talent and potential. This is just not even close, Harper is the far superior pick here.

He was high originally because people thought the was 6'10". So his defects were less important. He is actually 6'7". He has terrible shot selection among other problems.

Thank God they didn't do that. This was the right call. I saw Harper and Bryant as our two picks and they are. This is going to be a contender in a year or two. We should make the playoffs and be a tough out this year, but we're not quite there. We know what we need to work on.
