Indeed a very good read ... but missing on mentioning the 2014 championship which is a Popovich masterpiece feels a bit odd.

Thank you for that. Interestingly enough the Pop/RC tandem was little known when Timmy was about to dominate NBA. And such is the case with Mitch/Brian with Wemby, the future face of the NBA. History would seem to repeat itself. A Stanford graduate, people could be talking about this brilliant Spurs coach when all is said and done.

meh...

I thought it was very light and the trump/maga thing was fearfully minimized....if this writer/reporter was any good - he might have had the balls to really reveal what pop is made of and how courageous his trump views have been...

but he chickened out and pretended it was a minor blip and pop cowardly refrained from his political views and decided to just "shut up and coach"

what a cowardly piece of shit - sounds like a magat to me.

The bar for a "great article" is apparently very low these days...

I hope our team gets a new identity soon. We've been doing the "more important things than basketball" routine for a decade now and it's an awfully stale mindset for a fucking basketball team.

What manager even leads with that shit? "What we're doing is not important." It's too bad Pop's passion for his chosen profession will never match his passion for alcoholism or wanting POTUS dead.

The article starts out saying Holt hired Pop but I thought it was McDermott, Holt was part of the ownership group when Pop came back to SA but was it he or McDermott that brought Pop back?

Jack McCullum! Reading him after ages. Used to be one of the best writers around in the early-mid 2000s. Nice to see him write this excellent tribute of Pop.

He randomly mentioned the restaurant in reference to covering the Spurs over the years. He mentioned the spicy chiles in their food (iirc), which is funny because the restaurant is for gentile old rich white ladies, and the food is definitely not spicy. Lol.
