how is illegal to have a different opinion than the president?

letters of dissent in government have generally been considered protected speech up til now, why not anymore?

The EPA said Thursday it has placed 139 employees on leave after they signed a "declaration of dissent" accusing the agency of "unraveling" health and environmental protections for political reasons.https://www.axios.com/2025/07/03/epa-workers-on-leave-letter

I don't think it's being asserted they violated any law therefore, what they did isn't considered illegal.

letters of dissent in government have generally been considered protected speech up til now, why not anymore?
Over 270 EPA employees signed the letter of dissent. 100 did so anonymously, 170 signed their names. Only the 139 that did so, using their official government titles, are affected by the action and they were placed on PAID administrative leave, pending an investigation.

Winning.

In a statement Thursday, the EPA said it has a “zero-tolerance policy for career bureaucrats unlawfully undermining, sabotaging and undercutting” the Trump administration’s agenda.https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/jul/03/epa-employees-administrative-leave

No, as usual, you're looking at the circumstance through a lens that confirms your bias.

What the EPA did was take an administrative action, pending an investigation into the possibility 139 employees violated the law by endorsing an internal dissent under the auspices of their government office. I'll wait for the outcome of the investigation before saying they committed a crime.

I'm not a lawyer but, using your official capacity to effect political change, within the agency, could be a criminal violation of the Hatch Act.

We'll see. And, remember, the EPA isn't going after those that didn't sign using their titles or that signed anonymously.

I get what you're saying but a simple read of the EPA action will prove you're wrong, and I'm right, in this case. And, you're wrong because you want everything President Trump does (or his appointees do) to be some fascist, totalitarian, bigoted, clusterfuck of a deal.

Fact. None of the 139 (our of 270) signers have been charged with a crime.
Fact. Those 139 were placed on leave WITH PAY pending an investigation.
Fact. Speech wasn't criminalized by the EPA's action -- but, they're investigating to see if those who used official titles did violate the law.

Seems prudent.

celebrating freedom by deporting veterans, their families, and people playing by the rules

President Trump and his administration are carrying out the cruelest and most sweeping mass deportation program in modern U.S. history. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents, acting at Trump's direction, have detained and deported veterans, their children, their spouses - even those who served alongside us on the battlefield. This is being done under the guise (https://x.com/USCIS/status/1932075210276016163) of "making America safe again," when statistically America has never been safer. In fact, the administration is destroying the families who actually do keep us safe.

Trump's efforts to deport veterans and their families are not simply part of his broader immigration crackdown - they are a deliberate attack on service members and our veterans. In a February 2025 memo (https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/document/policy-alerts/NTA_Policy_FINAL_2.28.25_FINAL.pdf), the administration announced (https://www.cbsnews.com/news/ice-detains-marine-corps-veteran-wife/) it will "no longer exempt" active duty military personnel, veterans, and their families from deportation while they pursue legal status - a complete reversal of prior U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) policy.

celebrating freedom by deporting veterans, their families, and people playing by the rules...
I didn't know how to respond to this so, I did some research.

Yep, President Trump's administration is deporting non-citizen veterans. I don't know about their families (unless they're also here illegally) and, frankly, according to what I'm reading, it's precisely because they're not "playing by the rules."

Immigrant veterans aren't automatically granted citizenship and they rarely follow through on the process to be naturalized...even though their service puts them at the head of the line and fast tracks their naturalization. They have to do their part though Then, there are the immigrants that commit disqualifying crimes.

These are the immigrant veterans that are being deported by this current administration, the Biden administration, before him, the previous Trump administration, the Deporter-in-Chief Obama's administration, and for administrations going back decades. Every president promises to do something about it but, they never do.

The real issue isn’t that one president started deporting veterans—it's that U.S. immigration law allows it, and agencies have repeatedly failed to ensure veterans naturalize before discharge or the veteran's themselves, fail to follow through with the process to become citizens even though their hands are held and they're fast tracked through the system. When veterans get caught in the immigration system later—especially if they have a conviction—their service rarely saves them.

I'm sure you were caterwauling when Biden, Trump v 1.0, Obama, Bush, Clinton, Bush, Reagan did this.

Yonivore
07-04-2025, 10:32 PM

Yep. And, I'd do it again. Especially when you look at how the State of New York had to bend the rules on the Statute of Limitations to prosecute him and how they failed to identify the specific predicate crime that raised the out-of-date crime to a felony. I'd do it again, in a heartbeat. I predict the convictions will be overturned and dismissed with prejudice and that you'll no longer be able to say I voted for a felon; because, he won't be one. Time will tell but, in any case, it doesn't bother me one whit because, he's kicking ass as President.

You expect me to remember anything you said yesterday? Much less over the past 10 to 15 years?

My response was based on your characterization (maybe implicit) this administration invented the deportation of veterans. Quite frankly, if they commit disqualifying crimes or can't be bothered to do their part in a fast-tracked process that takes years (sometimes decades) for other immigrants to complete, I have little sympathy if they fuck around, do nothing, and get caught up in an ICE raid.

When is melania going to be deported for defrauding the usa and overstaying here and getting an “einstein visa” which are not for immigrant prostitutes?
Technically, she didn't overstay her visa, Homer. She was paid for work when here on a B-1/B-2 (Business/Tourist) visa which does not allow for a person to be paid for work. Apparently, she did this for about 5 weeks before obtaining her H-1B which does allow her to have paying employment. Was it a crime? Yes. Was it enforced? Apparently not. This was a call made by the Clinton administration but, in many cases, such lapses are not prosecuted if the infraction is for a short duration -- such as 5 weeks. Your beef is with President Clinton, not the First Lady.

when will her anchor baby be deported?
Baron Trump was born in the United States with a father who is a U. S. Citizen. Not an anchor baby. It wouldn't matter if Melania was here illegally, when he was born, but, she wasn't. At the time of his birth, Melania was a lawful permanent resident (green card holder) and was naturalized shortly after he was born.

if not- then stfu about deporting people “not playing by the rules”
Like I said, the opportunity to deport Melania lasted about 5 weeks in the Clinton administration. After that, she did play by the rules. Take it up with them.

so glad US Customs is preventing subversive cultural exchanges and the apparent danger of Czech-extremist clarinets

Several concerts in Nebraska featuring a Czech musician had to be canceled after the man was refused entry into the country earlier this week.

Jaroslav Skuta, a clarinetist from the Czech Republic, was scheduled to play four concerts - Saturday in Wilber, Sunday in Omaha, Monday in Lincoln and Tuesday in Fremont.
But he posted Friday morning on the International Clarinet Association’s Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=10235659678411059&set=g.137717256305617), saying that he had been detained by immigration officials at the airport in Detroit and refused entrance to the country.

“For hours I was in their custody – phone and all devices confiscated, very rude bullying interrogation, threatening me with jail time. After (a) couple hours of this, they ultimately ordered to send me back home to Prague,” Skuta wrote.

“I had proper documents for the projects I was invited to – I was supposed to visit multiple Czech communities in Nebraska and Ohio with my friends there and perform chamber recitals in their community spaces and churches. This was planned as like sharing Czech classical music with Czech communities in the U.S.,” he wrote.

The immigration office didn't believe me and they were ready to be done with me from the start. It was (a) devastating experience, but I hope I could come to the U.S. in the future when the country administration changes.”

Officials from U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the Transportation Safety Administration could not be reached for comment.
The concerts were organized by the Czech Culture and Education Foundation of Nebraska.

Well, if they were prosecuted by Alvin Bragg (who ran for office with the singular objective of "getting Trump"), assisted by Matthew Colangelo - who left his job as second-in-command of the DOJ to do so - and, if the prosecutor also stretched the tolling on their cases to make it fit in to a statute of limitation by less than a week; and, if the prosecutor just made up "possible" crimes (for which they were not convicted), in order to elevate the principal crime to a felony; then, yeah, I think all these cases you mention should be reviewed, regardless of the crime or the conviction.

2018 was a blue-ish wave (Dems lost some legacy, red-state Senate seats) because the population was more progressive back then than now and there was more public woke, anti-Trump sentiment

2014 was a red wave because the hopey-changey pro-Obama movement was stale and so liberal progressive turnout was very low.

2026 won't have the prominent social issues on the ballot like in the past decade or two which helps the GOP, but I'm not convinced the MAGA base will turnout too much either given that they still feel accomplished from winning in 2024. I could see a very low turnout midterm in 2026. Democrats aren't exactly highly approved of, either.

you invented most of that ^
Nope, I invented none of it:

FACT: Matthew Colangelo resigned from a senior position at the U.S. Department of Justice in December 2022 to join Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office as a top prosecutor on the Trump hush‑money case.
FACT: Had the Statute of Limitations not been tolled by the District Attorney's office, the statute of limitations would have expired on December 22, 2022. Bragg tolled the Statute of Limitations just long enough to exceed the March indictment date by about a week.
FACT: Bragg never provided a predicate crime which would have raised the crime for which he was accused to a felony. Bragg only suggested Trump committed the crime to possibly cover up another crime...given a range of possibilities without ever charging him with any of the crimes so, not only was a predicate crime not alleged, he was never charged or convicted of it.

President Trump's legal team is appealing on the basis of all three of these FACTS.

There's also the matter of Executive Privilege to be addressed.

he was convicted based on the evidence- period.
The only evidence presented in court was for a misdemeanor crime (falsifying business records) for which the statute of limitations had already expired - had Bragg not tolled the limit to take in the date of the alleged crime.

Debunked by who? It hasn't even made it to the appellate court yet.

Fact: Trump is a felon. You voted for a felon. Don't ever pretend you want the law enforced. You want your prejudice enforced.

The evidence was weighed by a grand jury
a trial jury
a judge

and the felon was CONVICTED.

This is how the law works and has worked for two centuries.

Hang on a minute. Let's stipulate for a minute that Trump is a convicted felon. I'll set aside my belief that he will eventually win on appeal and his cases will be dismissed, with prejudice -- as if they never existed. Then, he will no longer be a felon and, in fact, he will have never been felon. But, in your world and in you mind, the law was enforced.

He was convicted, he was sentenced, and he's now a free person who, in spite of that conviction, was not ineligible for the office of President. I voted for him based on my belief he was wrongly convicted not your belief. But, even if I believed as you do, I would have still voted for him because he campaigned on the very things I wanted a president to accomplish and, as President, he's doing them.

I never said I don't want the law enforced.

What do you have against reformed felons who have paid their debt to society?

Well, the law ain't done with this case so, we'll see.

Meanwhile, Marcellus Williams and Carlos DeLuna (and thousands of other wrongly convicted felons) were unavailable respond to your steadfast belief in the inability of the legal system to fail.

Lol "stipulate".

Nope, no stipulation. The conviction came in and you couldn't believe because you're retardedly biased. You're now digging and scraping for anything to confirm your bias and your conspiracy.

I'm fine with a rehabilitated felon getting gainful employment. He's not remorseful nor rehabilitated. Instead, he's empowered by you tards to keep on grifting.

The court you just got done lauding was the one handing down the sentence. Now you have a problem with the justice system?

He's a felon and hasn't paid for it. I disagree with the unconditional discharge but that's how it goes.

And then you rewarded him with your vote. You like lawlessness unless it goes against your bias.
