Hi everyone,


Apologies for the extended downtime and thank you for your patience. We’ve been dealing with hosting issues and, as a result, have decided to upgrade the forum from the legacy Vbulletin platform to Invision Power. The migration is already in progress and will be fully completed before the start of the pre-season.


All existing data will be transferred, and the new forum will be much more stable and reliable. The outdated Vbulletin system has been creating numerous errors and overwhelming our server’s disk space, so this upgrade will eliminate those problems.


The forum will remain ad-free, and we’re excited to share that LJ Ellis will soon begin publishing articles directly to the homepage.


We truly appreciate your understanding as we make these improvements, and we’re committed to providing a smooth, reliable experience moving forward.

And the response about forum upgrade is just not it.
Members who've been here for 20+ years have been begging for not even upgrades, but some transparency about what's going on and noone, LJ included, ever even bothered to acknowledge us.
We kept the place alive during the Spurs darkest era and blatant tanking.
Now that the infrastructure fell apart completely and we made a new forum someone decides to revive spurstalk? For what? For it to be left unattended yet again and for these rampant trolls to constantly ruin every topic?
You had years to acknowledge us, but nobody cared.

If you're to ever get this place back to it's former glory step 1 would be completely deleting the political forum garbage. If you want to talk about overwhelming the server's disk space, that's the first place to look.

Nobody here is disputing the value of timvp's insight or articles (AI game grades aside), but a large portion of recently active ST posters grew frustrated with the ever growing down times, ridiculous delays in important dates (draft, trade deadline, games, big news, etc), raging lunatics which no one does anything about, and known insecure platform, and at last decided to do something about it other than complain as the site dies.

Personally I don't see the point in trying to persuade anyone to do anything, if you find the state of SpursTalk to be acceptable as it's been for the past couple of years and enjoy it as is, good for you. For those who don't, know there's an alternative forum where they are welcome. That's the extent of what I want to say, then anyone is free to choose.

Is rather fascinating to see how ST reacted to the blackout.

On one hand its sad that this site came back and no one wants to post anymore, a tiny bit of communication before the blackout would have done wonders to prevent that. Two things caused the collapse of this site. Lack of communication and lack of action when upgrades were promised a year ago! Members now have little faith that upgrades are actually coming or that they will be even worth waiting for.

On the other hand the other site is such a huge upgrade in every way and its beautiful that it was made by members who are passionate about this community of Spurs fans. Because of that this site is losing the civil war... at this point it may be best to admit defeat and surrender the domain or try to partner up with the other site somehow.

They posted that there will be an update before the draft (not this one, but 2024 Castle draft) only to disappear and not be heard from all the way up until last week after the site went down for almost a month.
How can we trust these people? We already endured a couple of seasons with horrible servers, not being able to post during games, the site crashing completely when critical news broke etc.
A lot of members pretty much begged to help them and even invest their own money to update this ancient relic of a forum - no response.
Then they had the audacity to use timvp's account and post grades while completely ignoring that forum was shitting the bed and literally took minutes to load.

Baselinebums is what this place could've and should've been with the updates that community would've made free of charge.
But as per usual, most business owners are clueless and careless up until their revenue stream gets cut and then they suddenly start caring. Thanks, but no thanks.

I remember when Spurs Report went down I think during the '06 playoffs and all of a sudden everybody went to Spurstalk. The irony now is that Spurstalk lost it's community the same way Spursreport did.

The only thing really active on ST is the political forum. If you want actual Spurs talk then head over to BB. Good discussions are taking place there without waiting for the site to load. There's a thread from 2016 saying that they were stepping away. Kori made an account on BB to say that they haven't been running the site for awhile. timvp grades seem to be AI generated. Before, he'd at least link the grades in the forum, but now timGPT doesn't do that. This DC23 guy pops up once a few months to promise an update, but then nothing ever happens. :(
