there is nothing to fear.

you only fail when

1. you don't take the 1st step.

2. you stay down when you fall.
(and you WILL fall. we all do. you just gotta get up again.)

3. you make the same mistakes over and over, never learning.

The only thing we have to fear, is fear itself.

That's pretty catchy...and to think, i just made up that last line, all by myself too...:lol

naturally, but it is possible to learn from mistakes and still not want to take the extra step, that's where i've been for the past 4 or 5 years

There was a great article in TIME magazine last month about ambition. It basically said that while everyone has dreams and goals they'd like to achieve, what separates people is that some sit on the couch, munching potatoe chips thinking about doing it, while others makes plans, lists, and wake up every morning with it in mind.

Although, I don't sit my ass down on the couch, I do think the biggest thing stopping me from acheiving my dream is sometimes I think I don't have the energy, stamina, or even will-power to achieve it. Goals aren't achieved over night, they take time and patience and determination....and it's very hard to lose sight of it along the way. It's always easier for people to take the easier path and say, "oh they'll go after it eventually" or to find an "easier dream" to achieve.

But no worries, I know me and my Type A personality, and I'll end up doing what needs to be done because though I lack energy and am getting somewhat lazy, I'm also one of those people who doesn't settle for anything less than what she wants. It's just hard to motivate yourself sometimes :)

It's at the very end of the song: Cult of Personality by Living Colour.

And it's not the band members that actually say it, it's a quote from some political leader.
