View Full Version : What movie(s) do you like that you cannot convince your significant other to watch?

Ok, I'm not talking porn here fellas (and ladies)! :lol

In Manny's Office Space thread #2, I noted that I love that movie but couldn't convince the Mrs. to watch it until just a few months ago.

The other movie I've tried to get her to watch to no avail is Bull Durham.

I have to admit that I am guilty of being unwilling to watch more movies than Mrs. Chopper. Usually I'll give in at some point and end up liking whatever it is (grudgingly of course :lol).

The one movie I refuse to ever see is Bridges Over Madison County. It would ruin my lifelong admiration of Clint Eastwood and since I have modeled my entire life after him I, myself, would be forever ruined. The testosterone would cease to flow through my veins and I would transform into an old ugly woman.

I've kind of gotten more into what he does, though. :)

I'd actually watch Office Space if LJ rented it and put it on in front of me. But I'd never go seek it out.

I'm not sure what movie that he'd want me to watch that I would refuse. Maybe E.T.?

Why, oh why, won't my husband watch Lifetime movies with me? Doesn't he understand the need for my need for teen angst and/or murder with a crappy happy ending fix? *sob*

Where's SaraPet when I need her?

I couldn't get Kori to even attempt to play video games so I retired.

True.

It's absolutely the worst show that they have ever put on the air in the history of television. You guys have to watch it so you can see for yourselves. It's on at 4am on channel 7 (or 11?) weeknights.

It's the worst show EVER!

I can tolerate Bridezilla, that show with that hot model and the guy from the Brady Bunch, and numerous home make-over shows now. Actually, I think I lik ethem now.

But Cops and Maximum Exposure are two shows she can barely, and I mean barely tolerate now.

I can no longer watch Max X. It's the same damn clips, over and over, but in a different order.

Yes, I know the skiier is going to hit his head on a rock, only to be slowed enough by his continuous tumbling to be caught in the avalanche and yet by some miracle make it out alive. Yes I know the car will pull away as soon as the cop turns his back only to be lead on a high-speed chase, endangering as many innocent bystandars as possible. Yes I know that guy will pull the landing gear down on the plane and YES I know that firefighter is about to barely make it out alive.

Same story over and over and over and over again.

I cannot begin to begin to count how many times my husband has watched Willie Wonka and the Choclate Factory (the original one). Not only do we have the DVD (burned, of course) but every time that stupid movie is on HBO, he has to watch it, even if there's only 5 minutes left.

I hated the book and I HATE THAT MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Shelly, nicely played, I didn't know that moms who aren't "cool" would know that. You get 10 points.

I never read the book, any redeeming qualities?

Jekka, Nina post's follow up album was OK, but to me it lacked the Veruca Salt edge.

:lol I know your pain! My girl is ok with watching me play Halo or Ghost Recon, but once I pop in NBA2K6, she's uninterested. Lately, she's starting to hijack the 360 to play all the online puzzle games, while now I'm left to be the spectator and to take care of the little one.

It's not so much that my wife refuses to watch certain movies... It's that she falls asleep 15 minutes in if she's not interested. She has yet to see a single Star Wars movie, which offends me deeply.

That said, she did step up to the plate and offer to watch The Godfather with me... I told her she wouldn't make it, but like the trooper she is, she made it through a solid hour before dozing off for good.

He won't watch Pride and Prejudice. Well, he watched it once. But he will never, ever watch it again. Or musicals. Never, ever, never.

He's pretty easy going about a lot of other stuff though.

I've never watched The Usual Suspects (clearly one of his favorites).

As for TV shows - I'm a reality show whore (though I don't generally scrape the bottom of the barrel, ANTM and My Fair Brady excluded), but outside of Amazing Race can't get him to watch. He had me watching wrestling for awhile, but he can't get me to watch stupid shows like MXC on Spike (the only show I watched on Spike was . . . you guessed it! Joe Schmoe).

Titanic. Granted she hasn't really tried to get to watch it. I actually watched the last 20 minutes or so once when it was on TV, and it just holds no appeal. Evita is the other one.

I can't convince mine to watch any Will Farrell movies like Anchorman or Old School, which is kind of funny because she likes the American Pie trilogy, which I find far more sophmoric and gross.

Any horror flick is basically scratched from Mrs. Chopper's "must-see" list.

She does like action films though, which is great for me. And she loves all three Godfather movies, which I love too. In fact, when we were on our honeymoon there was a day that we were both a little under the weather so we stayed in our hotel room and watched all three Godfather's back-to-back-to-back.

Timvp mentioned "Cops". Mrs. Chopper won't watch that either. I like it because they used to do the show from Albuquerque it seemed almost every other week and I'd see a lot of police officers, and a few convicts, that I know. Our mayor quit letting them film from here though as he said it was painting a bad image of our city. :lol

Oh.... And Chopper Boy, he still has his facial hair and all the other stuff too. :lol

But one show I leave to him alone is all the Alien movies. He has them on DVD. I saw them once and that was enough for me. He could watch AVP every weekend if I would let him. Sitting through those movies is like getting teeth pulled without anesthesia over and over again. :shootme
