The SNGs at PokerStars are awesome. I haven't played any MTTs there yet, but I'm sure their good as well. They take too damn long though.
I withdrew my cash from PokerStars to max out a Party bonus, but I should be good to go again once I clear the bonus tomorrow.

I just wish that Party Poker had the options for tournaments like PokerStars.
I hate the PokerStars setup and chip/pot style.
But I like the amount of 50 to 180 man tournaments they have also
MannyIsGod
12-13-2005, 10:26 AM
I love the stack amounts and blind structures for Stars. Party is a crapshoot. 800 chips for a tourney is ridiculous. I can't even throw out a few raises because if I have to raise AK or AQ and it doesn't hit, or JJ and I get overcards and action, I'm shortstacked like a motherfucker. So then, at the 25/50 level I'm already stealing blinds just so I'm not in a race situation the moment I get a hand.
No way man, I'm tearing through the 10-1s on Stars because it lets me play TAG.

QQ is a great hand man. There are only 2 prelop hands that are better, and preflop your a slight favorite against AK.
I dno't think losing QQ to AK is a mistake. Just the breaks sometimes.

I have had the worst cards in my life tonight..I am seeing only 19% of the flops
MannyIsGod
12-13-2005, 09:51 PM
Um, I only see about 19% on a normal night. In a tourney it drops down untill the later stages where I'm stealing blinds, but then I don't want to see a flop most of the time. I just want people to fold preflop.
But 19% in a tourney before the middle stages probably means you're seeing too many flops and playing too many cards.

MannyIsGod
12-13-2005, 10:00 PM
Thats not in too bad of a shape really. Try to steal some blinds when you ahve medicore hands (k10, a8) but don't be afraid to dump them if you get reraised. If you hit a monster and double up, you're back in business, but if the blinds are high enough try to steal a few and you'll have a good stack as well. Then if you can at least steal one set of blinds per orbit, you can sit back and wait for a monster and hopefully you'll double up. But don't waste your chips away on marginal hands. Thats death.

I had 5-6 of diamonds on the button, the guy to my left raised to $120, I called, a 5, 6 and 3 flopped, I bet the pot, $500, and the guy to my left raised to 1200, I went all in knowing I had him beat, because of his raise.
He turned over 10-10 and a freaking 10 came on the river.

I just finished in top 4 in another Satellite Tournament to Saturday's $200+16 WSOP Satellite tournament.
There was a huge battle in the final 5 players as nobody wanted to be the 5th place guy, as all he won was $98. I finally knocked out the 5th guy with pocket 9s against pocket 5s.
:elephant
The same guy that knocked me out of the last tournament and won $2500 in 3rd place, was in the final 4 with me, so we will be going at it again. I almost knocked him out earlier, had he called, because I had an A high straight and he folded to what would have been a bet to put him all in....I wanted his ass.

Jim, I think it would be smarter to play in a money tournament rather than a WSOP, try to win a seat to one of the 50k or 100k tourneys, and if you win money in one of those, play in a WSOP Circuit event rather than the Main Event, because now that 7000 people enter the Main Event, its basically a crap shoot.
MannyIsGod

Hmmm, I think you have alot better odds in a circuit event rather than the ME, plus a circuit event is cheaper, most of the same pro's will be there, less fish players will be entered in the tourney, so less possibility of a bad beat to end your tourney.
But I do understand what you are saying Manny, I definitely wouldn't mind playing in the ME, even though I'd have to get extrordiarily lucky to win it, or even cash in it.

MannyIsGod

Just right now? I busted out in 3rd.
I had 66, and the shortstack had raised so I rereaised him all in. He calls and shows Q8 and he hits an ace high straight and wins.
Next hand comes and I had JJ. Once again, me and the shortstack (although he's not much shorter than me now) go heads up all in. He has A10 so he only has 3 outs (the aces) to beat me. Ace hits on the flop.
I'm now pretty short stacked, and I get 33 in the next hand. I push hoping to at least get the blinds and the leader calls. He shows 44! Neither one of us hit so he wins.

It's just a matter of style Manny. You think you are awesome because you are so patient and conservative. If I played everyday, I'd win just as often as you do. I just don't play online because, to me, a lot of the game is interaction with other people.

You are so consescending to me about poker. Yet when I moved to your table, you had over four times as many chips as me. But within an hour or two, you were on your way home while I was in a heads up battle to win a 20-person tourney.
So maybe, sometimes you have to stray from the book and just read some people and take them down?
And sometimes it's just luck. :)

I learned how to play poker when I was 8. My uncle used to have poker parties at our house almost every weekend and I used to stand behind him and watch them play.
When I was college, I played every weekend and made extra money to buy shoes and purses (scholarships paid for school).
I just play the opposite of how you play, so it bothers you. :lol You fold your way to victory (or to losses) and I play more on reads and hunches. Phil Ivey plays like I play. So it must not be that bad (and I know it's a lot more fun). :smokin

I don't play passive at all. I just don't play K2o. I'm not the tightest player by any means.
:)
Actually, online when I play NL I'm a lot more aggressive than I am with you guys. Thats because theres a lot of super tight passive players. So I can take a lot of pots down with jack shit. They are usually small but it adds up.
With you guys, I can't read some of you but I know that you play ultra loose, so I tighten up a lot. The times I don't I get myself into trouble (10-8 2 pair anyone?), so I'm better off waiting for the hands I can play strongly.
But your style does throw me off my usual game.

I'm not sure if I'm happy with that call. It was a coinflip, but KQs is a good hand. I just don't know if it was too early to push. I had about 12 BB left, so maybe it was a just a bit early.
The guys reraise with 4s wasn't what I'd call a good move.
On second thought, this would have been a great place for Raymer's "Stop and Go". I missed out a good chance to make that play there.
Too bad this wasn't a tourney for a decent buy in. 4 1/2 hours of play for 32 bucks blows.
