1.8 secs is too little for Horry .. he'd never get open to do his stuff...

I'd give NVE the ball ..

Don't you mean it's too early for Horry? He doesn't go for dramatics till April.

OK TP, do your thing in OT again. Is this a flashback to last season's game against the Clips or what? Hopefully it has the same outcome.

I have a feeling the Spurs will pull it out in OT.

These sort of games remind you just how hard it must be to actually beat the Spurs at home. Spurs obviously didn't play there best, no Ginobili, Timmy's FT's etc, and they still pull it out.

If the Clippers had Maggette and the Spurs didn't have Ginobili, I think it may have been a different story though.

Angel Fan is right.

The electricity in the arena tonight was second round esque.

Nip and tuck.

The Clippers are the Sonics from last year, but better.

These Clippers, when they get healthy, are going to meet the Spurs in the western Finals.

Book it.

They have inside, outside.

Their defensive cohesion isn't TOTALLY there yet, but there are stretches where they play FANTASTIC man to man D.

Cassell playing defense tonight was absolutely stunning.

Dunleavy getting him to play D, is akin to Avery Johnson getting Jason Terry to play defense.

They should share the coach of the year honors just for these monumentus feets.

In for injured Ginobili, Spurs' Finley comes up big in OT

Dec. 13, 2005
CBS SportsLine.com wire reports

SAN ANTONIO -- Tim Duncan hit two free throws with 12 seconds left to send the game into overtime and then led the Spurs past the Los Angeles Clippers for a 95-87 victory Tuesday night.

The Spurs climbed back from deficits as large as eight against the Pacific Division's leader, outscoring the Clippers 11-3 in overtime.

Michael Finley, filling in for an injured Manu Ginobili, had 21 points and 10 rebounds, both season highs. Finley had seven points in overtime, including two free throws with 28.7 left to seal the win.

Duncan was 1-11 from the free throw line before hitting two in the clutch. He swished the first and bounced the second in to tie the game.

He had 27 points and 22 rebounds and five assists and Tony Parker had 25 points and seven assists.

The Spurs were trying to bounce back from Saturday night's loss to the league's worst team, the Atlanta Hawks, and overcome nagging injuries.

The Clippers were led by Elton Brand with 24 points and 12 rebounds. Sam Cassell had 20 points.

Duncan scored the first four points of game, showing no signs of a nagging sore foot. Parker had 11 in the quarter as the Spurs held a lead as high as six points.

The Spurs turned up the defense after trailing at the half and went on a 16-9 run to take the lead at 6:15 in the third. Finley sparked the run with 10 points, including the go-ahead score to clean up a miss by Parker.

The teams exchanged the lead in the fourth, but Chris Wilcox led the Clippers offense, hitting a runner in the lane as Duncan was called for the foul midway into the quarter. By the 6:35 mark, the Clippers led 78-72.

The Spurs climbed back, led by Duncan who hit a runner in the lane after being hammered by Brand to cut lead to two with 5:08.

Duncan's banker over Chris Kaman tied the game again at 82 with 1:20 left.

The Clippers' Quinton Ross hit a 17-footer for a 84-82 lead with 17.5 seconds left.

In need of a basket, Brand fouled Duncan with 12.6 seconds left. He hit both free throws and after Kaman missed a shot in the lane, Nesterovic grabbed the rebound with 1.8 seconds left.

Robert Horry inbounded to Duncan who overshot the rim as time expired.

Notes
Ginobili (foot sprain) did not play. Sean Marks for the Spurs was inactive. ...

Rasho was a BIG reason the Clippers only had 34 second half points and 3 in OT. After he sat for those couple of minutes early in the third quarter, he came out motivated, to say the least. I was glad to see Pop give him the chance at Crunch Time- both late in the 4Q and OT and he played great. The stop and rebound at the end of regulation were big.

Finley did a great job tonight, as did Parker. Tim's 2 FT's late in regulation were amazing after such an awful night at the line and the free hernia check from Sam Cassell.

Mostly, I was proud of the lack of turnovers-- only 4 in all of 4Qs plus OT.

SAN ANTONIO -- Even after going 1-for-11 from the line, Tim Duncan resisted the urge to try a new approach to his shot.

Duncan made two free throws with 12 seconds left to send the game to overtime and the San Antonio Spurs dominated from there, defeating the Clippers 95-87 Tuesday night.

"I don't ever do anything different. I just put them up there and hope they go in," said Duncan who had 27 points, 22 rebounds and five assists. "Sometimes it goes good, and sometimes it goes bad, but I just want to give myself a chance."

Tim's free throw form is drasticly different from pre-season and early season when he was making them all. He has now reverted to last years form without realizing it. I was shocked during pre-season at how much better his form was....good release timing with his legs and a nice arc. This also seemed to translate to his outside shot which also looked great.

Now, though, he's back to poor release timing which leads to the flat arc we've seen for the past few games. I wish he'd watch some tape from when he was shooting well. I'm sure he'd realize what he's doing.

first half sucked, outscoured both 1st and 2nd qtrs, badly outrebounded and out hustled.

Spurs appeared to show some interest in the game in the 3rd qtr, but couldn't sustain it in the 4th qtr. Looked like another Atlanta game.

Spurs played well in overtime. escaping with an ugly W. It's December.

I saw this game differently. I thought it was a hard-fought game, once the Spurs upped their rebounding and defensive intensity in the 2nd half. The Clips were beating the Spurs to reb. and loose balls in the 1st half.

Their 3rd quarter effort was outstanding. The Spurs took care of the ball particularly well considering the Clippers doubled Tim hard almost every touch. It was a matchup of two of the best defensive teams in the league and the Spurs held true on that by holding the Clippers to 33% FG shooting.

It was a very entertaining game, highly competitive and indicative of a battle between 2 of the top 4 teams in the league.

I agree. Never thought I'd see a top-tier important NBA game against the Clips.

I agree it was a great game WHEN THE SPURS DECIDED TO PLAY, which excludes at least all of the first 24 minutes.
I recorded the game on my DVR. I see no reason to keep the first 24 minutes.
