Bush, Toadies, Sunday, Smashing Pumpkins, Bon Jovi (I was like 12 so it was cool), and I really can't think of any others. I know I've been to a lot of local joints here and have seen so many more bands play. Not only that, when I was in middle school/high school I went to some La Semana's and Summer Jams where other artist would play.

My sister wasn't into them and gave me the two passes. My friend and I went. We had a blast and got to meet the bands and see the show practically from the stage.

i went to a Nelly concert and Usher concert.

USHER...funny you mention him. Great talent and humble young man. When I was in Okinawa, Japan as an AF Doc, Usher was there to perform in 1997 for the troops in Okinawa. He became ill and had a sore throat. I just happenned to be working in the Acute Care Clinic that day and took care of him. I had no clue who he was or even that he was famous, except that 1) he had an entourage and 2) The rest of the clinic (the young airmen, especially the girl with dripping panties...so I am thinking Public Health needs a call and penicillin, zithromax and flagyl are needed in bulk supply) were gathering around the Acute Care Clinic and were shooed away. One of my friends, an Internal Medicine MD, put a carbon paper under the release sheet that Usher had to sign, so he could try to get his autograph. (The Int Med Doc is about 5 yrs younger than I am). The "DOC" put the carbon paper upside down and never got the autograph. Would you want HIM taking care of your heart disease? hahaha...

Anyhow..Best concert...Day On The Green #2 in 1981 in Oakland Coliseum. I was a jr in HS and saw REO Speedwagon, UFO, Kansas, .38 Special and Gamma with Ronnie Montrose, . It was awesome!

BEST CONCERT EVER MISSED? NIRVANA! I was in med school and swore I would get to one, but Kurt blew his cranium off beofre I could get there.

When in Afghanistan, I met Ted Nugent and Toby Keith which was very very cool. If you want photos (I have digitals) message me. I have Ted Nugent with a Marine Corps sniper rifle in hand. The Great White Hunter is an awesome, righteous dude.

OK..SO NOW I AM SOOO OLD!!!!!

Hussker, you still an AF doc?

Nope, I retired in April this yr. I work in the Prison system now here in Texas. Thankfully, I am not a inmate and I get to go beyond the gates at the end of the day. When I was enlisted in the AF, I was an MTI (other services call them drill intructors) in the AF. That was back in the mid-late 1980's before I went to med school. The Prisons fit me well and the medicine is awesome. What do you do, oh VERY MIGHTY (I am not being facetious) 1369?
I take it you were in the military by your references in the past. I love my PJs in the AF, my Rakkasan and Airborne Army bretheren, all the sailors who are kicking @$$, and, especially, the USMC who are the tops in my book. I learned to appreciate them and the things they do and their REAL military structure while in Okinawa and while in Afghanistan. I trained with the Marines in Okinawa in Jungle Warfare Training at Camp Gonsalves and was stationed with some fine Marine marksmen/snipers in Afghanistan. My wife was a Japanese translator for them in Okinawa and she loves them more than I do.

What do you do, 1369?

Living in the most remote capital city of a state in the world (i.e, perth - australia, it doesnt get much more isolated) we have VERY FEW concerts of great bands come our way, as it is just so damn expensive to fly everything over... for example, Nine Inch Nails just recently toured australia... went everywhere EXCEPT for perth. Sigh.

Anyways, from those that have come here - ive seen

Tool, - best freaking concert ever!
A Perfect Circle,
The Tea Party, - another brilliant concert, even for a canadian group! :)
Something for Kate,
Garbage (well, it wasnt officially garbage, it was the garbage members, but they were just f***ing around at the local bar)
Karnivool,
Fourth Floor Collapse,
Adam Said Galore,
and a whole bunch of other local perth bands - thats all you get to really see anyways!

One time I went to Sammy Haggar in the old Arena... pre smoking ban days..

We got so fucked up we ate like 3 boxes of fried chicken.. and that was just from breathing the air.. we didn't smoke any weed. But my eye's where red all night.

The first one I ever saw was Duran Duran in 1984. .

MAN I wish I had a chance to see Duran Duran in their glory days. SUCH an underrated band. Pretty boys or not they had some great music, and were damn good musicians. Seven and the Ragged Tiger is still one of my favorite albums...and I'm an admitted recovering headbanger.

And I still kick myself over missing Concrete Blonde the last time they came to S.A.

Gah, rereading this thread got me to thinking...I knew I forgot some...

Danzig (at Sneakers...White Zombie opened and just blew Glen off the damn stage.)
Savatage...anyone remember them?
New York Riot
Lynch Mob
Dangerous Toys about a hundred times. We used to joke that they must have had an apartment above Sneakers as much as they played there
Blue Oyster Cult (back when Las Emana was still cool)
Faster Pussycat (the infamous "Las Emana Riot")
Helmet...actually worked security for that one when they played at The Showcase
Galactic Cowboys...A band from Houston that coulda been HUGE if the label had pushed them
Trouble
Mindfunk
London Choirboys

And some of the best local bands of the era...Prezence, Pariah, Napolean Machinegun, Thin Ice/Judge Mental, Evil Mothers, Pitbull Daycare, Petting Zoo...

Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush...I think they opened for Nazareth one year...World Anthem is one of the absolute bestest live albums.

Somebody love on Ocotillio...thats sounds like a lineup ta die for.
Well done.

Not everyone listens to the same music or grew up in the same era which is why you may never have heard of some of them. I know I've scene names of bands that I've never heard of.

Priest Rocks (halford days only). That was my first concert it was the "Defenders of the Faith" tour. Rob may be Gay but that fucker rocks! :hat

A guy I used to work with actually asked us to turn off JP's greatest hits once...because he couldn't listen to a gay singer. He said he was a big fan of Priest until he found out that Rob was gay...I really wish I was making this up. I'm guessing he might have been a WEE bit insecure about his own sexuality.

Honestly, though, in retrospect...how freaking obvious was it that Halford was gay? I mean he all but wore a sign around his neck proclaiming his sexual preferences...but none of us caught on 'till he came out. A bit ironic, I think, that two of the greatest singers in the VERY testosterone driven genre of hard rock (Rob and Freddy Mercury) were gay.

Priest was the only arena metal concert that I ever had floor seats for (Ram it Down tour)...and they absolutely kicked ass. As Bruce Dickinson put it on VH1's "greatest metal bands" countdown...seeing the Halford version of Priest is like trying to stand in front of a freaking mechanized assualt. Arguably the greatest metal band EVER!
