- several nice dress shirts from Nordstroms
- Lacoste shirt/jeans (they are trying to turn me metro, bleh-- oh well, still nice stuff)

- row 5 tickets to Globetrotter's game, along with other members of the family
- several pairs of boxers

Got:

$150 toward an Ipod (dad is going to Vegas on the 1st... if he wins 'big bucks' he's getting me the Video Ipod and a new car that already has the Ipod thing installed. Woohoo!)
PJ's
A beautiful scarf
A Sweater
An "S" Pin
$35 visa gift card
$16 Walmart Gift Card (don't know why $16)
$10 Walmart Gift Card
Tix to the Saints Game
An "S" Keychain

I gave my stepsister a Tiffany's giftcard ($50). She was so happy she didn't even open the thing. She already knew what it was but they wrap it in this big ass box and everything and she thought it was too pretty to open. You should have seen how many pictures she took of herself and the box and bag. lol She's crazy. I'll post a pic later.

the video functions of today's mp3 players are surface candy, mostly because of the small sizes of the screens. I would say the appeal of the video function is most alluring when you consider the gadget as an external, extremely portable harddrive..
they're trying to make the screens bigger, but then, theres only so big you can get before you have to make the device itself bigger, and thats what the consumer does not seem to want

-Got an early Christmas present with a second interview with Spurs Sports and Entertainment and got to see a bunch of cool shit while I was there. Got to stand courtside which rocked - I'd never been there before. Can't take the job if they offer it :depressed , but still totally awesome.

-Avoided the flu that knocked out my mom (so far anyway).

-From my husband, I got a fabulous, comfy robe, a foot spa (he gives me home pedicures now), pretty earrings, tons of chocolate, and numerous movies (VHS and DVD)
-From my brother, a nice compilation of Winnie the Pooh (it was sweet of him to think of it) and his safe return from Iraq (priceless).
-From my mom, a beautiful Nativity set from her store that I'd been eyeing for months, a sweater, a silverware chest for my grandmother's silver (a wedding gift to go with the china she gave us), and for both my husband and me - a ton of stuff that was on our registry (new sheets, yay!).

Don't know about my dad, because we are doing Christmas tomorrow with him, but I think I'm getting a personalized bracelet (I know it's personalized, and he was measuring my wrist with his . . .).

I got an actually nice teapot from my in-laws (they believe I collect them . . . interesting) and bath stuff that seemed put together (last year it was clearly a raid of a cabinet to get rid of trial products). I got a big hug from my sister-in-law, and remain hopeful that we can build some kind of nice relationship.

I got to give my husband the opportunity to go see his family without me, which means no awkwardness or chill factor or hostility during the holidays, just time for them to be together (hasn't seen any of them in months - I don't think he's seen anyone since our wedding). I hope it goes well with them (I stayed home to take care of Mom).

I got to wake up next to my husband and have Christmas morning with him and with my mom and brother.

I got to cook Christmas dinner (a little unexpectedly), so I got to let my mom rest, and make our first married Christmas a little more special. I didn't burn the ham or most of the potatoes.

It was more about the money than the hours (J would have been working nights and weekends too if we moved back, and with no kids yet, it could've worked). It might just have worked with him going full time, but between having to pay for healthcare and an increase in rent by moving back, we'd be scraping it. Oh, well, it was still totally cool, and that was worth driving bacl for. . .

My mom has been sick since last Sunday. It seems to be working it's way out, but boy is she miserable right now. So vodka's the trick, huh? Who knew?

OOOOOHHHHHH!

I completely forgot about the greatest gift I got! We won six months of free rent, through a drawing my apartment complex did. We were entered into the drawing by paying our rent on time, apparently. And we won. Six months of free rent (the other reason I couldn't take the job - this will let us put money in savings and pay off a lot of our debt). That was a pretty sweet Christmas gift.

True, you only get 2 hours of video playing time. However, you can buy a car plug thingie. Also, you don't have to just watch Itunes stuff. You can download any video and convert them yourself. Apple just wants you to think that you can only watch thier videos.

Way too much, that is for sure. Both of our families did way too much. A sample:

Tons of jewelry, and most of it from James Avery. Always a good box to open :) My favorites were a charm bracelet (it's my third) and the number charms for all of the Spurs' starters, plus the spur charm. And a great gold & silver bracelet to match the earrings and rings my sister, my mom, and I all have. And some jewelry my sister made, she's awesome.

Kitchen Aid food processor

William's Sonoma serving tray

Lots of pretties to go around the house & to organize things

Book, music, DVDs

Scrapbooking tools

Tons of duct tape. Evil mother-in-law, she bought it because we'd never had any and she knew I didn't like it. Funny as hell though when I opened it.

John got a basketball signed by all of the Spurs players from last year's championship squad.

Don't be so quick to rule them out, it all depends on what she likes ... I love to cook, and it's something I have to do everyday ... and new pots & pans can get really pricy. I'd LOVE some knew ones. And I don't wear much jewelry, and I only like one kind of perfume....so getting that over and over every holiday is pretty unimaginative. :lol

I got this enormous grill I wanted .... and I was ecstatic. Well, I'd be more ecstatic if he'd hurry up and put the damn thing together....I mean, everyone else has gotten to play with all of their toys already... :cuss :lmao

I like getting practical gifts that make my everyday life a little easier. :tu :)

I was damn near on my death bed Christmas Eve. Falling to sleep randomly, and often times inappropriately, voice sounded like the noise a fog makes when you step on it with the heel of your boot, and in general I was hoping that Santa would bring me some form of euthanasia.

Until I took some Zithromax.

One more dosage to go (taken once a day, for three days- strong shit) and the only thing I have remaining is a minor headache. The flu has nothing on me!

Or Zithromax.

Thanks, Santa.

A TIVO with a free year of subscription. That started three days of frustration. First I had to remodel the entertainment center and make more holes for wires to pass through. Then I had to figure out to hook it up to my system since none of the 'suggested" installations included it being hooked up with a surround sound A/V receiver. Not that big of a deal, but it just took me a little while to get my mind wrapped around it. Then a trip to Radio Shack for a splitter, cables, etc. Then hook up everything (including stringing a phone line into the next room to a hardwire phone jack)...then...ready to fire that baby up!

Go online to set up the service...go through 4 screens of registration...decide to buy a lifetime subscription for $300 and take a credit for the gift subscription...put in the validation code..and...fuck...it says the code is not valid...check, double check...I'm holding the certificate in my hand and everything is correct...try again...not valid...fuck!

Call customer service...hold...hold...hold...finally a person...go through the registration process verbally, give them the credit card info etc..give them the gift certificate number...and you guessed it...it wouldn't take the number...she told me it was a glitch in their system and I wasn't the only one with that problem...but she couldn't fix it...it had to go to "corporate" for approval to overide...but I should be able to set it up anyway since it had six days of service programmed into the machine...but I would have to cal back next Wednesday to complete the registration...

OK...I'm cool with that...I'm 4 hours into the installation now but ready to go, right?

Wrong...

OK...go through the zillion setup screens and get everything ready...it then "calls" Tivo to download system info...it finally tells me everything is done and setup and I am ready...

I fire it up and half my channels are gone...including HBO...fuck!

Back to the troubleshooting manual...I go through everything 3 times and nothing helps...

Call the Tivo helpline...go through the automated menu...choose the tech help option...and it gives me a phone number to call...naturally I wasn't expecting this so I was madly scrampling to find a pen and paper to write the number down...fortunately it gave me an option to repeat the message after I found a pen...

call the other number...hold...hold...hold...finally get a very nice person...go through everything I have already done..still no channels...check the software version...ahhh...that could be the problem...it didn't download the latest version of the software...

Manually tell the unit to update...calls in...and twenty minutes later it disconnects before finishing...

manually call in again...go through the process again...and it disconnects again...fuck!

go the troubleshooting section again...change to a different number for it to call...go through the process again...it finally say it has finished the download...check the software version and it still hasn't updated...fuck!...since it "could take up to 12 hours" for the software to download" (supposedly the info just "trickles" in) according to the help line I leave it alone and go to bed...

Next morning I check it...and it still hasn't downloaded the software...manually connected again...the phone disconnects during the download again...do this three or four times till it finall says it's "done"

still hasn't downloaded the software. fuck!

OK...I go back to square 1...I hook the A/V feed directly from the cable box to the TV to check the feed...and FUCK! those channels are still gone even though I still have those channels on the other TV...

Then the light goes on...*bing*...Part of installing the Tivo involves putting in a cable splitter in ahead of the cable box and hooking one coax to the cable box and one to the TV...that way you can record one channel while watching another...

I take the splitter out of the line and hook it directly to the cable box and got all my stations back...it's either a bad splitter or the cable feed isn't strong enough to go through it...

soooo...after fucking with it for about 20 hours the Tivo now works but I can't watch another channel while I record. And it STILL hasn't downloaded the software upgrade and I STILL have to call back to get my subscription straightened out...*sigh*

Yeah...but this one will burn DVDs AND pause/rewind/slomo live TV...plus digitally store 42 hours of recordings...It has been a total pain in the ass setting it up but I think I will like it once I get all the kinks out...

I got Sirius satellite radio, the car kit that looks like a radar detector, but I don't have a radio in my truck. It plugs into the lighter, my lighter doesn't work.

I don't know what I can exactly do about that.
