How can I watch live TV on my laptop??

What would I need to buy to be able to do this??!??!

During the rodeo I have no access to Spurs games, so I would like to be able to watch em, or set something up on my laptop to do it.

Any help is apreciated.

Thanks.

I don't own it, but there is a device out there from ATi called the All-In-Wonder USB adapter that I think might work. It sells for about $70-$100 anywhere.

If you have broadband internet access to your laptop at all times you can purchase the slingbox.

they have the technology right now to make everything wireless, including tv signal just like satellite radio but the fucks that run the cable/satellite companies are holding back... it pisses me off........

you should be able to drive your car around with wireless directtv rather than playing bullshit dvds or using an antenna which gives a shitty signal.

I am talking about when you travel and rear passengers.

I am against the cellphone and TV crap for the drivers...

When I travel and its my turn to chill, I would like to tune into a game or something instead of fuzz/snow.

In theory: YES

The main question is whether you internet connection at the AT&T center is fast enough to watch the signal you are streaming from home.

Basically you need a broadband connection at both ends.

But if your connection is fast enough it is a sweet solution that I (and all the foreigners on this board) will envy you :):tu

Seeing it mentioned in this forum a couple weeks ago, I bought a Slingbox so I could watch Spurs games while travelling.

In my house, the video streaming rate is 1 to 1.4 Mbit/sec.

In a hotel in San Diego linked back to my house, the rate is 700 - 900 Kbit/sec, but perfectly acceptable. My Internet access is 4 Mbit/down and 1 Mbit/up.

A cellphone-type wireless access is less than 100 Kbit/sec, and wouldn't be fast enough to stream video.

Weirdly, I offered, in the Spurs forum, to anybody who couldn't watch the Pistons game yesterday a chance to watch it on my Slingbox, and had no takers.

The Slingbox has performed flawlessly. Never needs re-booting. And it alllows me to control my DVR from anywhere, not that any recent Spurs games have merited keeping.

To watch TV on a portable, google for "USB TV tuner"

You can get that Sequ.

I rented a H3 in Phoenix in the beginning of December, and it had a directv sattelite dish on it, and you could watch Directv on the small TVs in the back of the headrests.

I would love to watch the games, but your home connection cannot handle more than 1 connection (from what i read in your post). Maybe you just offered to any ONE.. so it's ok then :)

"your home connection cannot handle more than 1 connection"

The slingbox only supports one remote viewer at a time.

I figured somebody in Europe or Argentina would want to watch. I have two cable boxes, and 2nd cable box is dedicated to the Slingbox, so I'm not bothered when somebody watches the Slingbox since I'm watching TV on the other cable box.

Hey how fast is that internet card and how much does it cost?

Edit: I would suggest that you just get a cheap AM headset or portable. 1200 am has excellent game coverage and post game reax..

Then with internet you have spurstalk chat / blog and courtside live at same time.

T Park
12-26-2005, 08:17 PM
how fast? 1.8 MBPS

thats when the connection is excellent full bars.

its on the Cingular PC Card, under the 3G network.

Dont need to sign in, it automatically gets the signal.

Its fantastic.

I type this in the backseat of a moving 2006 Toyota Avalon near Slidell Louisiana.

Signal is excellent.

its fantastic!!!!

But, If you NEED a broadband connection on the HOME side, Im screwed cause i cant get that connection there..

Should be able to route data directly to and from internet using packets from the cell phone digital stream. Voice is transmitted as packets already.
