With Ginobili's slow start and then his injury, do you guys think he could still make the all-star game?

I doubt it. He's got a pretty high number of votes considering the amount of time that he's missed, but I don't see how an All Star coach could pass over some more deserving guys for someone who has been fighting injuries all year.

January will be decisive! If he plays like in the playoffs, we should have 3 spurs in the allstar game as we are #1 in the west!
Every coaches know Manu's value and they can't not select him if he regains his 'all star' form!

Holy crap, is that a triple negative?
can't = not
can not not select him.

Doubtful. The way the voting's looking Duncan will get one of the two at large spots, and I don't think many coaches are going to be voting to put three Spurs on the all-star team.
I hope he doesn't make it anyway. The boy needs all the rest he can get.

True, better see Manu rests at home than watching him get injured by ben wallace & oneal! :lol

I'm no expert, but the sentence is gramatically correct. At least the part that looked strange to you ("every coaches" is wrong). If you heard the sentence spoken it would sound better due to emphasis ("they can't NOT select him"). There are better ways to have written it for clarity ("can't avoid selecting him") and a teacher would suggest that sentence be rewritten for a number of reasons.

I love Manu, but he shouldnt be an all-star due to the amount of time he is injured. But, if they are letting international fans vote, Manu might just make it.

I think that if manu comes off bench, that situation won´t let him to be all star. Nevertheless, manu has a lot of votes and i think he will get more through these months.

Not gonna happen this year.

Manu doesn't deserve to be in the All-Star game this year. With all of the injuries, he hasn't played like an All-Star. Hopefully, Parker gets in so we at least have two Spurs in the game.

What should be more important for consideration, the performance during the past playoff and the finals? or the performance during the first months of a regular season?

:lol Neither. Just ask Chauncey Billups, Mr. 2004 Finals MVP and runner up 2005 Finals MVP and Rip Hamilton. The All star game is based on popularity. Period.

Talking about consideration on coaches decition, when they choose the reserves, not about the Ballot.

Histroically, selection as an All-Star reserve is based upon performance in the first half of the regular season.
Performance in the playoffs and Finals is rewarded with championship rings and banners.
Couldn't have said it better. People who do all badass in the first half of the season are the ones going to the all-star game - that simple.

It will come down to the coach's vote. Anything can happen from now to the end of the balloting. If Manu plays well, who knows, the coachs might send him in. I think that would be unfair though
Manu isn't going to get voted in by the fans or the coaches.
He isn't as popular as the other guards to drum up votes from the fans and he is averaging lesser numbers than he did last year so he won't get voted in by the coaches. If he makes a reserve it would be really suprising in a bad way.

Nope said it last yr that it would probably be his first and last yr being an All Star. To many popular guards in the west. Kobe, T-Mac, Nash, Allen, Davis, Richardson playing better, so is Parker.

I thought so too. But I just read that Manu is still 3rd in West guards voting while Tony is 5th. So the only way Tony will probably get in is by coaches voting.
Although, I'm thinking if Tony doesn't make the All Star game, that may drive him to be even better from Feb-June :) to prove that he should have been on the team.

Beyond Tim Duncan, I don't think that a current Spur will get first team, but I remember last year that there were coaches saying they were surprised that TP didn't make the team, so they will probably vote for him over Manu this year. Manu was obviously thrilled to be there, but we know he didn't get to do much during the game. Since Tony is a PG, he'll be in a better position to control who gets the ball.

McGrady is listed as a forward this year, which is why Duncan won't start.
