Great article on what life is right now in Calgary. That is hockey that is so popular in the North East and Canada.
I hope you are enjoying the Cups finals. The series is great. Lots of action and man oh man, had Brad Richards become a MEGA STAR over night or what? The guy is unreal and is starting to be Mr. Clutch. 2 more goals tonight.
Tonight i watched the game at a sports bar, it was packed. Every bar is packed to watch the finals, this bar though was awsome, because they had a band play during intermissons and after the game. I have a buzz. But tell me, what other sport brings so much to peoples lives as hockey? Hockey is life. Packed bar, everyone is like freinds even though i only knew the 5 people at my table, high fiveing each other after goals. During intermissons, while the band plays requested songs, i am talking to a kid i never met in my life about the Buffalo Sabres and next season.
The article i posted is life in Calgary right now. The time we lived thru in 1999 with the Sabres in the cup finals. Rankings are low, but it's ok. Hockey is life. Hockey will never die.
I'v seen each finals game from a bar, from 3 different bars 6 games, each time the bars are packed for the game. But tonight was even better because of the band. Everyone's into it, even though you're team isn't in it. People making bets. On the winner, on # of goals.
I guarentee you, the NBA finals don't get packed bars across America, with random fans, with a bar buying a band to play because of a FINALS game. You drink, watch the game, listen to music that you request the band to play, then after the game, when party in the bar. This bar had maybe 200 people there. All of which, came to see the game and the bar didn't advertise the band or them showing the game, people just expect it.
I went to the mall with a girl today, and her freind was at the mall so we stopped to say hi. This girl is really hot, and she is not a sports fan, you can tell by talking to her and i know her a bit so i know, she doesn't watch, play or fallow sports. She asks, what are we doing tonight. I say "going to a bar to watch game 6 of the finals" and when a girl responds with a "ohh, Calgary winning 3-2 right?" is maybe the most amazing thing, because that just shows how big hockey is. Ask a random chick at a mall after 4 or 5 games of the NBA finals to see whos winning and they wont know, ask ANYONE, whos winning the cup finals, they will know.
That is hockey. That is what i'v been trying to tell you Pooh the whole year. Just remember, Hockey is Life. Anything else is just 2nd.
Have a nice day guys. I'll post here more about Pacers as we near the draft and the off-season. But enjoy the last 2 days of the NHL Season, it might be the last for a while and enjoy Game 7. It should be awsome. I know Texas is not big into hockey, but trust me, you'll enjoy it on Monday Night. Prime Time. It's all about 1 night to sum up the entire season.
I hope you've been watching the games, because this is sexy hockey.
