June 2, 2004 -- AUBURN HILLS - Kenny Anderson wants to come back to New Jersey.

Anderson, once considered the Nets' future, has been an afterthought on the Pacers' playoff bench. But when he sees the plight of the Nets' point-guard position beyond Jason Kidd - who "definitely will have his MRI this week" on his left knee - Anderson has definite interest. And the feeling is mutual from the Nets.

"I thought about that. Friends, family they saw Jason Kidd, how he plays big minutes, was hurt. They said, 'You could finish your career back home.' I've thought about it," free agent-to-be Anderson said before Indy tried to fend off elimination in the East Finals against Detroit here last night. "But [Nets CEO] Rod Thorn would have to be interested in me. I would definitely like that, sure.

"I'm fine. I can play 3-5 years. I've got my speed. I can run a team, I'm healthy. I just need the opportunity to play some minutes. That lookswww.nypost.com/sports/nets/25106.htm (http://www.nypost.com/sports/nets/25106.htm)
