Mike Barrett talked about the Spurs' interest in Blazer rookie Jarrett Jack during last night's TV broadcast. Barrett said San Antonio made an offer for Jack but were apparently rebuffed. The offer reportedly included 6-3 point guard Beno Udrih.

http://www.oregonlive.com/weblogs/blazersblog/

here is the statistic for J.Jack 6-3 Guard (selected as the 22nd pick by denver to portland)

YEAR TEAM G GS MPG FG% 3P% FT% OFF DEF RPG APG SPG BPG TO PF PPG
05-06 POR 32 0 18.4 .392 .143 .806 .2 1.5 1.7 2.7 .59 .03 1.03 1.50 5.6

his FT % (80.6%) don't resemble Spurs :lol

Oh! I was just thinking about Beno and hoping he made it safe through the trade deadline.
I'm glad they said no.

And if it included Beno who and/ or what else was offered?

Didn't Buford just say that they would make no roster changes. I think I read that somewhere.

Oh, Gee!!

nobody wants Beno. of course he'd stay safe, unfortunately.

beno is not worth much. I know you porbably think he's cute and all, but he's not a good NBA player. Sorry

At the very least he must have potential- after all he made it.

Safe trade.

Maybe its as simple as they liking Jarrett Jack game better than Beno's. Nothing more. Nothing less.

If the Spurs must get somebody from the Blazers, get Viktor Khryapa, that guy's got sick game, could be a Bowen understudy too.

I get the feeling that the Spurs are pretty ok with Beno. I could see them trading him under a package deal with another Spur for somebody big, but not for another rookie PG.

Beno's still a rookie??

Actually, I was impressed with how Beno played last year, until the playoffs at least, which I think is understandable. With time I'm pretty sure he has the potential to be pretty good backup PG, for us or another team. And when people start talking about trading Beno, what do we do for a backup next year when Nick is not here?

Why would Spurs want to trade one 3rd string rookie for another 3rd string rookie?

I can see two reasons :
- The FO think that Jack is a better fit for Spurs and for the playoff.
- The main reason : Beno/Jack will be the main backup PG next year. Jack will be a cheap backup for three years, Beno only for two.

Beno is not a Rook anymore.. he wears the Spurs ring.. kiss the ring fool.

Man talk about him like he sucks... hard to tell who is a Spur fan and not.

We really do not need a 3rd PG with Barry/Manu being able to handle that for short stretches and as well as Parker has played this year - I really would rather our roster if it changes, goes for a defensive tall forward for the Amare's, Dirk's etc. to spell Duncan, Nazr and Horry some.

Beno for Jarrett Jack

This is joke! :lol :lmao :lmao

Who want to trade Beno for some not proven PG??
That would be really stupid trade. For almost all minutes in last Beno games he played good. ast game his stats were 4 min, 4 pts, 3 asists. He just dont get enough minutes. And Nick van Exel is not so constant in games. Sometimes he plays 20 min and score shit.....

jack played for georgia tech in college. he was a pretty good player and led gt during their championship game appearance vs uconn 2 years ago when tech's leading scorer, elder, was out. he has big game experience and was a very solid pg in college. his jumper needs work, but he definitely has potential. imo we'd have to trade more than beno to get him, that's why blaze won't let him go.

Beno`s stats were better in his first season in less playing time. The only reason I think the spurs might want him, is if he is better on defense...

My league pass was blacked out here in Portland so I had to watch the local Blazer broadcast. It was my impresion listening to the broadcast that they were talking about this draft night trade possiblity as well. Not that the Spurs had contacted the Blazers recently. Of course these Blazer broadcasters are such jackasses they wouldn't hesitate to just make some stuff up.

also, i am not trying to bash beno here, but jack has played in high pressure situations in the ncaa tourney. it would not be unreasonable to assume he knows how to break out of a trap and keep from turning the ball over under full court pressure.

I don't know why you guys are hating. Jarett Jack will be a good starting PG someday, while Beno will never be more than a back-up. I don't hate Beno, but Jarett Jack is a very fine rookie.

i am saying the defensive intensity in the final four of the NCAA's is ratcheted up quite a bit higher than in euroleague. is that an unfair assessment? beno reacted to the trap of the pistons like he had never seen it before.

ChumpDumper

I doubt Jack would've fared much better against the best defensive point guard tandem in recent memory. That said, Beno needs to get better to stop the Spurs' looking elsewhere.

off topic, but my friend is a huge gtech fan and just drove down to sa from austin and got scalped tix outside for $80 apiece. still killin myself for not going with him. i went to the 98 final four and saw utah in the championship game. i grew up across the street from doleac in germany, his dad got us 5th row seats.

Rehashed from draft night.

Ill say again like I said draft night.

I would do that trade 1000 times out of 1000.

Jack last night showed he had game, and showed he has a nice outside jumper.

Beno is a scared dribble off his foot at the slightest hint of pressure stiff.

I would make the trade.

Dario

It would be funny if it wouldnt be sad, since he made that drible TO and had bad games with pistons there has been more then 50 topics opened how he cant get the ball over the court line etc.
Let it go allready, you'll feel better.

You're the one saying that we shouldn't trade Beno for a PG who hasn't proved himself yet.

If POR is really shopping Jack, then I think it's well worth it to take a chance at letting him develop in the system.

Jarret Jack>>>>>> Beno Udrih.

Plain and simple.

Hence the reason Portland laughed at the Spurs when they made that offer.

Hell Barry and Udrih, for Jack, and, uhhhhhhh, damn, maybe Theo Ratliff?

What the hell

Barry Udrih Oberto for Ratliff and Jack.

Does it work money wise??

if so??

DO IT.

Doubtfull...

Nah, i never said that, since i dont know a thing about the guy. However its bullshit, that someone is getting bashed over and over again for 1 TO he made half a year ago and making statements about his game on this TO alone. I understand the feeling, i dont like 1/3 of my team back in slovenia this year, but still i'm not bashing them for every mistake they make.
