Seven-time All-Star center Alonzo Mourning, who retired early last season to undergo a kidney transplant, is expected to announce that he is making a comeback to the NBA, a league source told the Bergen County Record.

Mourning, 34, has three years left on a four-year, $22.6 million deal he signed with the Nets last year.

"If he can play, if he's healthy and can play, obviously it's very good [for the Nets]," team CEO Rod Thorn told the newspaper. "It wouldn't surprise me."

"Alonzo Mourning wants to come back," the source told the newspaper. "He's going to make an attempt."

Mourning would succeed Kenyon Martin, who was traded during the offseason.

He averaged 8.0 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 17.9 minutes in the 12 games he played last season.

I hope he does well
I may not like kidd as a spur player

injuries are no fun
if he can give them 20 minutes a game he would be a better assest to them

hehehe...

The "comeback" gig has worked pretty good for Grant Hill...he worked it for four years already...hopefully Zo can stick it to the new Nets owner and do the same thing...:lol

I like Zo too...thats why I want him to stick it to the Nets and get all of his 22 million out of that scrooge Ratner...I will get great pleasure out of seeing Zo in his Armani suit sitting on the bench waving a towel at Kidd as the Nets get their asses kicked on the way to a spectacular 25 win season...:lol

If the kidney is working, there is no real reason for him not to come back.
