SPURS: Getting Into a Rhythm
The Spurs can’t begin to thank em enough,
Fans in Denver, where it can be rough,
Rough anywhere to win around a New Year.
See the Pistons got to Ohio and lost their gear?
Nuggets fans, they did so much,
No chance of a sleepwalk or some such,
For SA when Ginobili was booed every touch.
Fans think he was gonna choke on the clutch?
Contrare, as anyone with TV knows,
Comprende, Mile High, who you oppose,
This guy plays with his own different deck,
Make him aroused, he’ll show you your neck.
Check it out – usually when SA’s been defeated,
Manu’s been out or a wheel’s been depleted,
At least if he’s out the Spurs can ably relieve him,
and still have a chance when they get to the gym.
Tony Parker’s still there to get in the middle,
Few smalls slide fast enough to solve that riddle,
Parker? A shorty who leads all scoring the paint?
Foul him often? The notion’s apparently quaint.

Left arm can kill him when he puts one in the air,
Relief might come via injection and a sleeve,
To relocate his confidence? He just must believe.
Beno Udrih is an answer too, awaiting a chance,
Pat Riley wishes he had this guy by happenstance,
When Udrih plays (10 DNPs) he shows some signs,
Of a guy who won’t now be abused inside the lines.
The guy who still makes it work is Tim Duncan,
Teams are so afraid that he’ll just touch the pumpkin,
That they play soft defense on many a teammate,
Duncan’s mates just have to wait, and then punctuate.
Like Rasho Nesterovic has cashed in this year,
In a league needing centers, he’s risen a tier,
In 05-06 he’s tried a new method to convert inside,
At least look at the target to your shot better guide.
Nazr Mohammed’s contract is up – he wants to play,
but big man is averaging just 13 minutes a fray,
Pop will unleash him soon, and that is pure upside,
That’s for a team already championship bonafide!
We’re talking the squad standing tops in shooting percent,
The demise of the Spurs defense, that came and went.
SA’s also best in shooting D, giving up 42 per hundred,
That’s current, based on 39 percent of the NBA sked.
To close most every quarter, the coach turns to Robert,
Even fans in Denver know Horry’s known to convert,
Yeah, straight back, straight through, up over the kickstand,
Net jumps again – yet his hoop wisdom exceeds his shot hand.

Am I hating on Owens? Bowen’s the anti-Terrell.
Think about this – the Spurs are on the inside track,
They’re on the rail to win it again. Detroit leads the pack,
That’s the truth. So is this – SA is still an inside team,
Guard-oriented, the Pistons’ boards are minus, so stats deem.
If Detroit is your worst nightmare, life isn’t that bad.
Pistons are great most nights, but they aren’t armor clad.
Dallas had eyes on 60, then stepped back from the work.
Trail Trail Blazers in assists, the Mavs had better help Dirk.
Unless Riles finds a way to replace J-Will,
Shaq isn’t climbing to the top of that hill,
Offensive how Indy, Donnie, and Larry insulted Baylor.
Now the Pacers must settle, Sterling’s not a wholesaler.
Best idea may be to keep Ron and tell him to dress,
Trading him in summer would get more from Artest.
At least get some attitude and chemistry going on,
Something like the Phoenix Suns always are rolling on.
The Colangelo’s made the active summer moves,
swallowed some pride and tried to improve,
If there’s a team that could take on the Spurs’ full measure,
It’s the Suns. Better get SA in 6, 7 won’t be a pleasure.
