Bush says wants to solve Iran issue diplomatically
WASHINGTON, Jan 13 (Reuters) - U.S. President George W. Bush said on Friday he would not prejudge what the U.N. Security Council would do with Iran, asked about whether he expected sanctions to be imposed if Iran is brought before the Council over its nuclear program.

DISPLAYING FIRST 50 OF 1394 WORDS -President Bush said today that the United States was trying diplomacy ''one more time'' to disarm Saddam Hussein ''peacefully'' and suggested that if the Iraqi leader complied with every United Nations mandate it would ''signal the regime has changed.'' The White House immediately said that Mr. Bush was not...

"regime ... changed" ??
deja vu on that one.
dubya/dickhead/Repugs don't have the balls to go after Iran. Repugs, faux machos that talk big and carry small dicks, like pushovers like Saddam, Granada, Panama Canal.

I don't understand your position. Are you wanting him to go in guns blazing like Iraq? Or do you think he is just saying the same things he did in Iraq and will take the same course of action.
Because if you mean that he's acting too scared to jump into war with Iran it seems as if you're putting him in the damned if you do damned if you don't position where if he goes the same path as he did in Iraq, he's dumb and hasn't learned anything. If he goes diplomatic, he's a coward.

That's a pretty standard approach these days....I wouldn't expect anything less. :)

I think they'd go in for the lone airstrike if it could really accomplish what it has against other programs. I'm not sure it would be very effective these days though. One thing for sure, invading Iran wouldn't be the relative cakewalk that was Iraq.

if USA goes for (just) airstrikes in Iran, Iran could retaliate on US positions in Iraq

Diplomatically for only a limited time.
Meanwhile... we got agents pouring in and over that place setting up intel for the attack. The leader don't take a crap without us knowing....
It's going to end with something getting blown up....

So how will our blowing something up in Iran play with their Shiite brethren now controlling Iraq?

That's why Dubya has not attacked yet. And Russia's interests...
Other than that those 2 sites would be rubble by now. I just think that Iran's lack of co-operation with the IAEA and turning down Russia's offer to make fuel was a bad move. If they wanted the electricity that would of been perfect deal.
Bush is playing his cards right now with the EU. He has already told EU leaders by phone (my guess on his style) to either take care of it or we will. But this way let's them try diplomacy and whatever 1st.
