Is Vince Young having second thoughts about entering the NFL?
Lisa Blumenfeld/Getty Images

It will be a terrific NFL Draft unless there's some truth to what we read on ProFootballTalk.com's rumor mill about Texas quarterback Vince Young possibly having second thoughts. Young evidently hasn't hired an agent yet and, according to the report, NFL insiders "expect" Texas coach Mack Brown to try to convince Young to change his mind.

Can you back out from the draft if you already had a conference saying you were going to enter?

I don't know if I know anyone who has done that....

I assume that he didn't make a verbal commitment that would prevent him from coming back. There would be a lot of criticism if he did back out.

I guess Tom Hicks and McCombs decided to open their wallets when they saw what was left at QB.

im pretty sure people have done it in the past. maybe not someone as prominent a star as VY but i think theres certain steps that cant be done and if you dont do thme then you can come back.
google it maybe?

you know, ever since he declared i was always thinking about if he was gonna regret it. it wouldnt suprise me one bit if he changed his mind. plus, he didnt look all that confident and excited during his press conference committment than was reggie. i think once you sign with an agent, thats when the NCAA revokes your eligibility (with honor). But then again, when Mike Williams of USC declared for the draft during his sophomore year when the court ruled in favor of Clarett before the appeal, he wasnt allowed to play college ball. i got a feeling that if Vince ever wants to return, its too late. welcome to the NFL.

Mike Williams already had an agent.

After a court ruled that last winter that Ohio State's Maurice Clarett was eligible to play in the NFL, Williams left USC, hired an agent and said he was turning pro. That made him ineligible to play for the Trojans.

oooooo ok, thanks for the clarification. so if Young physically inks a deal with an agent, he gives up his eligibility? or can it be verbal?

o wait, nevermind, USC was willing to reinstate him.

So I guess that means, if you get an agent = nfl, you don't don't get an agent = you have a chance to play in college again

Hmmmm, a loaner from an agent? Who knows but he is in.

Did JB go?

Now is a good time for him to go. He'll be drafted in the top 10(probably higher.) Obviously if he comes back, Texas is favored to win the championship again, but I think he would do well for himself to leave. The only benifit to coming back would be to work on becoming more NFL ready as a passer.

VY is going #2 or #3. Hou wants Bush.
NO would be so awesome w/VY because if he fakes a handoff to Duece going 1way & VY runs the other way who do you defend? Esp w/a blocker or two going w/VY? & Having a WR come from across the field so if the yardage isn't there VY can lob a pass to a WR who hoepfully got behind the D.
Yeah, fantasy stuff but VY, Duece & Horn could present probs for a D as well..Not only Carr, AJ & Bush. Carr isn't a serious threat to get 15-20yds on ya every time he has someone 1-on-1 in the open field either..VY is.
VY's O coor needs to realize what he will get in VY & let him play to his strength which should open things up for VY's team.

If you were going to move a NFL franchise to SA who would you want to draft?

Mr Dio

Buckeyes lose 4 O starters BUT 9 D starters.
UT loses VY.
USC loses geeeeeeez how many??

Who is going to take it next yr?
Hmmmmm, I'm looking @ LSU, ND & yeah, UT(I know I know).
I think next yr we go back to 1 of the teams in the Fiesta bowl will be playing for the trophy w/1 loss.

Maybe Penn State?

I haven't seen what shape they're in, but they're awfully young.

Depends who I aready have & what my cap is like.
If I was NO I'd take VY.
Maybe Bush is a better fit in Hou w/the O line they have & that Carr contract.
If I was Det or Az I would easily give 2 #1s for NO's spot. Both teams had 5 losses by 1 TD or less. Actually, Det had all 5 by 5 pts or less.

*Supposedly* the Saints don't want a "running" QB and in their early evaluations are leaning towards Leinart.

Isn't Penn State losing the QB who made their whole offense tick?

I'd put West Virginia in the pre-season top 5 next year. If Vince goes pro, OU will represent the Big-12 in BCS. Notre Dame, LSU, Michigan, West Virginia, Tennessee, Ohio State, USC, Texas, OU, and Oregon would be in my top 10 (not in that order) heading into next season.

they're losing robinson. but they still have those two good freshman that a new qb could work with.

earlier this year, i remember mike williams mentioned that he has everything he could want now, but he wished he could have his time at usc back. i hope that vince and all these other guys leaving early don't regret it.

usc is losing alot. 6 offensive starters (leinart, byrd, bush and 3 starters on the o-line - 3 left early), 5 starters on d (1 early), our punter, a couple backup defensive players with a few starts, a few backup offensive starters with a few starts including lendale (early). it should be an interesting spring.

Who gets the nod at QB for 'SC? Booty or do they just hand the reins over to Sanchez and let him grow? Did Sanchez redshirt this year?

personally, i think booty will because he has been in the system for 3 years. at one point, norm chow actually thought he was the most talented of the quarterbacks. he completed 67% of his passes this year, but he did have a few interceptions (those should go away with the first team receivers). sanchez redshirted this year. he has a ton of talent which is why alot of people think that he is going to start. i think that he will make an excellent qb one day, but i think now is booty's time. it would also make sense to make booty the starter and sanchez the backup because there is always the chance that booty might not want to be the backup again. iif given that spot he could always transfer... which would leave us with only a walk-on.

whoever wins the job will have an easier time with jarrett and smith returning. also, patrick turner will be back for his second year (he showed alot of talent in limited time this year). plus 2 wrs from the all-american bowl.

sooners are losing too much on the O & coaching staff to be dominant.
They might improve from 7-4 to 8-3 though. 9-2 is asking a lot but would definitely be their ceiling.

Saints wear black jeseys for home games and white for away games. They do not have gold jerseys. They have gold pants and/or black pants, depending on the season. I haven't seen them in all black since the 2001 season. They wore all black for the season ending 2001 Niners game that was re-scheduled after 9/11. I was 12 rows back from the bench that God awful day. Doubtful they will pull those unis out again.

So, it's gold pants with either black or white jerseys. Based on my personal collection of game played jerseys, the white ones are the nicer ones. Something about how the fluer-de-lis looks in the rightful form versus the adjusted scheme on the black material.

I think Young would make a good pick for the Saints. But, this far out of the draft, just about anything could happen, including deals with other clubs. Houston holds the cards right now. They may be cooking some trade options. Then again, until these guys come around for visits and meetings with various teams, who knows? Vince may be a great player but the mix could be bad at any particular club.

We have months on this issue, guys. Months.

We are losing a few guys on the O-line, but all the major players at the offensive skill positions will be back. Bomar showed a hell of a lot of improvement at the end of the season, especially considering we couldn't even call pass plays at the start of the year. Peterson (hopefully) will be back at 100%. With Vince gone, Peterson is hands down the most dominant player in the Big XII. Two freshman who were our starting WRs will now be sophmores with a year of experience... so what is the "too much" we are losing on offense?

Didn't Clarett take his case to the Supreme Court over this exact scenario ?
He tried to go pro and force his way into the draft, lost his case, but the NCAA rules were, once you hire an agent....you're done as an amateur athlete and he couldn't come back.

I think you return 1 season long starter, ONE on the O-Line. Maybe, mayyyyyyyybe you will get another back that started for a game or 2. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the game is won or lost on the line of scrimmage.

THAT, is the TOO MUCH.

sooners finish 2nd or 3rd in Big XII South.
ou scored 12pts on UT's D..Guess what, They're baaaaaack.
The O Line that mustered 12pts vs UT's D has the corps of it GONE.

12pts
