Thats kinda cool.

The food they make though is quite gross looking.

There was one asian woman, who NEVER said she liked ANYTHING.

There's an Iron Chef America now? Do they make *normal* sounding food that doesn't look like it was regurgitated from a whale's intestines? :lol

T Park
01-17-2006, 09:24 PM
They have to make a whole course of meals out of 1 ingredient.

Usually its Turkey,
Lobster, hamburger.

Its quite interesting.

I really loved the Original Iron Chef better than Iron Chef America. There was something fun about the show being in Chinese or Japanese but being dubbed over badly in English. It ROCKED! :elephant

Paula Deen is Awesome. I remember I used to watch How to Boil Water about 4 years ago and they had this goofy comedian want to be guy and a pro chef on it. He was so bad it made it funny.

On Foodnetwork and Travel channel I love to watch the Pro Cooking Contest with the Sugar Statues. The best is watching those guys transport them to the table and there is always one team who drops the damn thing and it crumbles. I so wait for that moment.

I am sad I know people, but I am the same girl who loves Nascar, Wrestling, and Mystery Science Theater 3000! Enough said! :blah

Iron Chef is great and Rachel Ray is hot, even though her voice would get annoying. Just turn up the music and stick a sock in her mouth.

Iron Chef is the only one I will watch, however. I just love seeing them chopping live shit up. I've also been hopeing and praying that one day the secret ingredient is electric eel but they don't tell them that. HEY!

Paula is the best! I actually went to her restaurant a couple of years ago as I passed through Savannah on the way to Charleston. I didn't get to see Paula, though. She makes some amazing stuff. I have tried quite a few of her recipes.

I also like the "Almost Homemade" stuff that Sandra Lee makes because it's so simple and easy to make, but the things I have tried have been delicious.

Paula Deen might as well slather herself in butter. Her stuff may be good but it'll give you a heart attack after three bites. Dear Lord! Nothing but full fat stuff.

Did you see the Krispy Kreme bread pudding with rum sauce? It's made of 24 chocolate iced and glazed Krispy Kreme's and there is a POUND of powdered sugar in the sauce. A coworker's husband made it for his office and sent the leftovers to us, and we had all a bite. ONE bite, and I had a sugar headache for the rest of the day. Sick, man.

She had a "light" show the other day where she said she would not be using any butter or cream cheese ... and then used bleu cheese and peanut butter, and "a little bit of butter on the asparagus - it's not enough to count."

They all use a lot of fat, except the low-carb guy (George something?)and Juan-Carlos Cruz (and I can't stand to watch him...talk about an irritating voice!). With Emeril it's "a pork fat thang". Most of them use a lot of butter or bacon/bacon fat in just about everything they cook. Even Giada uses a lot of butter along with her EVOO.

The challenging thing is to watch the shows, get the ideas for the dishes, and recreate them without the excess fat if you have a problem with that. There are always ways to improve the ideas you get on there. The chefs are very creative and imaginative though, and I'm not, so I appreciate the range they give me.

my Dad and I have made a few recipies of Paulas, and they all rock!

What I usually do is go to the food network website and download some recipies and then we make them as a test, sometimes they need a little tweaking, but we make sure to get it right before giving it to family or friends!

and to answer your questions, YES KEDA can cook!

I love the original Iron Chef. The Chairman's crazy ass Liberace style outfits, the wacked out ingredients, and the annoying side line reporter-classic.

I'm convinced that when the bring in whatever young pop star as a judge that it's really the same girl every time they just give her a new name. I used to worry that I was falling into the "all Asians look alike" mindset but now I'm pretty sure about my theory.

You're right. Many Asians speak some weird ass moon-man language. Thank goodness that the Food Channel assigns meaning to it.

Actually, that's why I love the old Iron Chef- it is so funny because of things like bad dubbing. The American version takes itself just a bit too seriously, so it doesn't have the same oomph.

Oh, and if you guys ever visit Japan, you would eat all kinds of crazy things, so half the stuff on Iron Chef looks normal.

I wish Wolfgang Puck's TV show was on at a decent hour, his instructional show is top-notch. I also have a set of his knives that are way cheaper than Henckels or Wusthoff but almost as good (just wish they were a tad heavier).

I love the original Iron Chef.

I don't know...I kind of like the Iron Chef America better. I love their denim chef's coats. What says America like denim? And I love Batali's shorts and red clogs...no place but America. :lol

I get a kick out of the intensity on the show. I like Bobby Flay, but seeing him rush around and get flustered is hilarious...he's usually sooo laid back. I like that woman chef on there, too. She just made Iron Chef in the last few months. She used to be on there as an assistant a lot.

Horry For 3!

My favorite part of good eats, is how he explains how the "process" of something cooking happens in science terms.

Like why water boils, how frying anything works molecularly.

Its really quite interesting.

The "Man Show" was quite good. SHowed how to make corn dogs at home, even though its honestly not THAT tough.

the original iron chef is way better. the guy hosting it (not alton brown) is scary and moves like a robot. i also like the japanese one better because the challengers get to choose who they battle. the best iron chef americas i saw were when ming sai whooped up on flay, and the very few i have seen where wolfgang puck was an iron chef. i like him way better than cat cora... that being said, i would not eat half the stuff the japanese show has cooked, but i enjoy the process of seeing it made more than anything. the japanese one is way more dramatic! i also don't like rachel ray - she is a LOUSY tipper and i used to work in a restaurant - she tips about 10% max, and any decent human being tips 20% unless the service is god awful.
